Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #114,861
I wish everyone a safe and happy July 4th. And my thanks to all who served.

Last night’s meal takeout was really good. This little B&B restaurant has gone through several owners and has always been challenged $’ly mostly due to its remote location. I hope they can survive financially. This place will probably be the first restaurant that we go to when We decide it’s safe enough to dine in. Actually every place where we do curbside pickups seem thankful for our patronage.

A overcast, humid 62ºF for today’s low temperature. I got the dump and fuel run completed early and spent around 2 hours on the rider mower until a popup shower curtailed that activity. Currently a rainy 74ºF.

Tonight I plan on grilling some decent looking steaks and baking rosemary encrusted potatoes in the BGE.

BEF- Nice drone pics.

Bruce- Yesterday afternoon I saw that overgrown squirrel heading into the garden going for the Bok Choy and suddenly it took off at full speed. I do not think anything spooked it, but I do think it took a bite and got some serious hot mouth. I do not feel sorry. That pepper spray solution I made is pretty nasty.

rswyan- Lamb Vindaloo is one of my favorite dishes. Your bird house looks to be sturdy and high quality. I hope you get some residential activity. I really miss not feeding the birds, but that bear was getting much too comfortable around here.

Kyle- I hope your daughter can work through her depression. It’s hard not to be depressed nowadays. :(

Drew- Good luck with your housing search and getting out of assisted living.

Ron- I love your pics. Your jumping crane is awesome.

Bill- My BIL is convinced that those deer whistles attract deer from his experiences in NJ.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for everyone here and Our Country.

We have speed queen washer and dryer pleased have had several years basic but dependable

We got my mom a basic top loading Speed Queen also after her fairly new Kenmore would cost too much to repair. My whirlpool front loader like all front loaders must be hand dried or mildew will form on the boot and it will turn black. We found out the hard way and already replaced the boot once.

The Stihl weed eater repair is done, now it is hard to start and cannot go full throttle. Arg. So I put the old carb back on and it did not start at all. So I put the new carb back on again and am looking at some tubes to find adjustments. But the temp is in the high 90s so another day, glasses keep getting spotted with sweat.

Homemade hot dogs were great with the crispy microwave potato chips from the garden. Dessert was homemade banana nut ice cream. Mid afternoon watermelon break time now.

Anyone hearing any fireworks, I heard some last night far away outside the city limits. All the displays around here are canceled.

The golf cart parades were canceled also. Drew this is a good time to be healing/recovering you are not missing anything.

I think the birds would have to find their own food if it also attracted bears, except in the middle of winter when the bears hibernate.

I have not heard a single firecracker, but of course, it may be a bit due to my bad hearing.

I had to go outside after dark last night to hear them. Apparently they are not as plentiful as last year because Whipper ignores them instead of treating them as thunder.

Everybody bought a 2 year supply of TP and no money left for fireworks..........

I didn't get mowing done either, but I spent an hour and a half on the weedeater. Got plenty hot and called it enough hot work for the day. It got up to 103-105F depending on who you ask.

Watched neighbors shoot off a truckload of FW, then watched the VFD do their annual thing.

Good morning all. Our grand kids came over yesterday for the first time in over 3 months. The youngest (2 1/2 years) has really changed, he hasn't said much when we have seen him on face-time, so it was a surprise to hear him putting a few words together into little sentences. We are supposed to keep over a metre away, which was easy enough outside, inside was more difficult with the little one climbing up onto my knee if I sat down for too long.

The soon to be 10 year old has a much better technique for keeping people at a distance - watching videos of other people playing "fortnite". I don't see the fun in that, but then kids always find ways to enjoy things that their parents and grandparents are not so keen about. RNG, that was certainly true of you and your stinky groundhog vaporising firework, great story. I would never have done that - no groundhogs in England :)

Roy, probably a good job you sold your 5.56 version of the Ruger, getting those cartridges mixed up sounds like an all too easy disaster. I am surprised they supply it from the factory with an inappropriately marked magazine, you would think that would have the lawyers queuing up to file a lawsuit.

JB, glad to see you both made it through some tough times. Your home made pepper spray sounds potent stuff, if what we hear about American lawyers is true, maybe those squirrels will be filing law suits too ! :)

good morning all.
75 out now going up to 91 today, little cooler than yesterday but not much. Normal for here in middle of summer.
slept through the fireworks, though woke up at 10pm briefly and heard some booms out there. Pretty sure festivities this year
were a little subdued.

Jay,hope your steaks last night were yummy. I bet Brogen was sniffing around...

103 is just too hot Kyle, time for iced tea and shade. Glad you got to see some fireworks.
I watched one of the military bands play last night for a few minutes and they
were all mopping sweat off them, as they were wrapped up in those heavy uniforms.

my friend in Delaware sent pic of their veggie, flower and herb garden. They are using plastic bottles for drip irrigation.
I remember reading same thing 60 years ago in my father's Rodale organic gardening magazines. Will be interesting to hear
how they worked. Not the most attractive devices though, first I thought they were upside down, then thinking a bit, realized you needed
a way to fill them.
