Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 7:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High around 100F. Winds light and variable.
Are the cranes building nests, Ron? Noticed the grass in its beak. How many different lilies do you have, anyway?:confused2:
Everybody bought a 2 year supply of TP and no money left for fireworks..........
Didn't hear any fireworks here, either, even with the windows open. Most all of the festivities were cancelled. One fireworks stand said they were rolling all their profits into next year's show. Only two towns have legal "safe and sane" fireworks for sale, and the county DA said he would vigorously prosecute use of any kind of fireworks anywhere outside those two towns. Two new wildfires were reported nearby yesterday, but no word on whether or not they were linked to fireworks.
How do you plan on eating anything from your garden with all that hot sauce on it, Jay? Or do you like it that way?
Not sure I've told this story here or not, but years ago we, a group of motorcyclists, were at a national park in Utah and the chipmunks were begging for something to eat. I had a bag of redhot peanuts in my pocket, so I figgered Why Not? One little begger got almost all of them, and instead of eating them, he was filling his cheek pouches. He had so many in them he could no longer close his mouth. Then all of a sudden his eyes bugged out and he started using is paws to push all those red hot peanuts out of his pouches. My buddy and I were laughing so hard our sides started to hurt. But his girlfriend got mad an threatened to tell the park ranger...
I've had good luck adjusting the carbs on most of my Stihl products using the instructions that came with them. There are electronic versions available at their website, too, Don.
I think that firework would have worked just as well on a hedgehog, Eric...
Drove an hour to meet a friend returning from his house hunting trip in Klamath Falls yesterday morning. On the way over I was listening to a garden show on the radio. Lots of call in questions and answers, but none of them about using bottles for drip irrigation, Drew. Be a good way for brown thumbs like me to control how much water the plants were getting, though. Turned out that the restaurant we met at was closed, and neither of us had much of an appetite anyway, so we just stood out in the parking lot and gabbed for half an hour. His best prospect so far is a 40'x60' Mexican restaurant turned church, now vacant, that he thinks can be converted to a shop with a little living area inside. It's part of an estate, though, that might take more time to settle than he'd like; he's retiring in March of next year. On the way back I listened to a car show, and some of what I heard didn't sound right at all. It got me wondering how much of the garden info was bum, too, that I was just to ignorant to detect.
I've rebuilt several Speedaire compressors, had to put new valves into the big two stage one just a couple years ago. Parts used to come from Sears; is that still the case?
Had another go at the alarm system yesterday, and noticed that it would only work when the ignition was on. It uses two power leads, both of which the instructions said to connect to always on 12 VDC. I'd only connected one, as the other was supposed to be to power the remote start feature, which I don't intend to use. But since the alarm wasn't active with just the other one when the key was off, I hooked up the remote start lead. And everything else in the van came on, too, even with the ignition key in the off position. Figured it had to be coming in from something else on the control module, and it turned out that the satellite link for the GPS had it's own power lead. As soon as I disconnected it, things went back to normal. Read the instructions for the GPS link again, and there was a very tiny asterisk that led to a line at the bottom of the page that I think means it doesn't need its own power if the controller module provides it. But there was nothing in the control module instructions saying it would power the GPS link. So more homework today.
by then it was scorching hot out on the driveway, and a cold beer and the lizards were calling from the back porch again. More Jimmy Buffett on the stereo, and as soon as it started, one of the lizards walked up to where I was sitting and started watching me. Begging. Ran right up and jumped into my hand to get its meal worm, then it's bigger buddy came over and did the same. The big one got the next three in a row, at which point the little one chased it away. The little one got the next two, then the big one came back and started circling it with it's back arched up and walking all stiff legged. Not sure what that meant, as the little one just ignored it. Neither one seemed interested in another meal worm, though, so it must've meant something.
The hummers have emptied the feeders again, so I better get up and feed 'em. Gonna be another nice, but hot, summer day. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
