Well, after dreading changing the starter on my Triumph.....gotta say, the dread was worse than actually doing it. First project in a long time that went smooth and easy. Never dropped a tool, never dropped a screw or bolt, everything came apart, everything went back together. It was time consuming, and I definitely took my time.

Seemed at one point, half the bike was laid out in pieces.

New starter works awesome, especially when the engine is up to temperature. Old one was getting weak. Gonna take it apart to see if the brushes or bearings were failing. Both are known weak point in that starter. The new starter is an upgrade and was slightly larger that the original.

Took the bike for a test ride. Realized during the ride, I brought that bike home 8 years ago today.

Leading a charmed life no doubt 🤙

So much going on here (as usual)
Even great news, especially Drew. (Didn’t expect you to share any info on Jay). Appears Google may cough up a #.

Forgot to add, I did get the Ryobi 40v Brushless motor trimmer. Was a hard choice between it and the EGO. Wife concerned about EGO weight/balance. Had to give extra points for Ryobi Expandit and I have additional shafts. Also liked the 3 in 1 head. Likely never use the bump mode though.
Decision was reinforced by a great deal. Cashier honored the Ryobi site price of $179 and then applied my 10% military discount. 🤙🤙

good morning all.
going to be a scorcher today, 94 predicted, that plus humidity makes it plain unbearable
first cup of coffee going down nicely. Then a small bowl of granola and fresh blueberries to start my day.
Probably a lot of food shopping going on today for tomorrow's festivities.
Facility here did a special hamburger and hot dog dinner last night as early July 4th party,
had us all sit in doorway so at least we could see/meet our next door neighbor. Mine was older fellow in wheelchair who
clearly had been through a bad stroke, but he really enjoyed talking to someone. He was a tobacco farmer and we talked about that.
lot of staff going home today for long weekend.

Kyle, your machining talents are impressive. I hope that business for all small shops picks up, otherwise lot of talent being laid off. Unemployment is trending
down but if that's all restaurant employees, maybe not that much of a help. Still at 11 percent which is super high. So many small businesses only maintain one to three month's cash reserves, what is going on now is crippling to many. Likely that bankruptcies are on the rise. Read that largest Pizza Hut franchise just declared BK, though a workout variety, meaning debtors take the hit while business tries to continue without paying much if anything on loans. Must not have been enough take out pizza being ordered. Even if business still did 60 percent of volume, could be their break even was at 80%. Close friend with coffee business was running at 60 percent, had to lay off half of staff, and rely mostly on family. They say business is slowly recovering but no vacations for them this year.

hope you all have a great Friday.

Good morning all. Not so pleasant outside today, wet and windy. An inside day and a bit of a rest is just what I need, had a slight overdose of fun yesterday digging a channel by hand back from the railway boundary, beneath the willow trees and back to the wetland outflow drainage channel.

Good work on the wheel spaces Ken, every bit of pucker reduction for slopes is worth it. Did you cut freehand or make a jig ?

PJ, sorry to hear of those laid off at your workplace. An extra day to do what you want in exchange for a slight pay cut would be many peoples dream, when work picks up again you may find yourself reluctant to ever go back to a full week.

Kyle, your friend is lucky to have someone like you to help out with all that machining. Can't be too bad a place you work at either if they don't mind you using the machinery after hours on big jobs like that.

Looks like a wonderful day shaping up. Road trip and shopping. Need to find something for the grill besides chicken.

Hot and dry is the order of the day.

Have a good day all, prayers for those on the mends, and enjoy the holiday! Be safe.

Heading to 96 today, with lots of humidity. Glad I mowed yesterday.
Ellen got up with a migraine this morning so I’m helping with what she usually does, which is more than I do.
She says I’m a pretty good house husband.

Mostly, that fish is all mouth!

BEF, what a difference a year has made in our health!

Drew, you’re headed in the right direction just keep motorvating!

Jay, where are you?

Prayers for all.

68 going to 94. Already pretty sticky out there, once the sun came up...before that, felt good.

Rick, I cleaned up along our road especially well before Independence Day, too. Did some string trimming out there yesterday. I agree, good news about the economy coming back...it won't be everywhere and across all business evenly, but as some return, others related will, too...pretty soon..6 degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Ken, great job on those spacers.

Buckeye, glad your cat is feeling better. Surprised a good Ohio boy would pick the Pirates over Cincy, but you did live on the eastern side of the state.

Roy, "fightin' weight' is a good way to express it, but hope you get your appetite back.

Buppies, thanks for thinking of Coco...when we took her to the vet Tuesday, thought we'd get a reco of putting her down...but the vet was happy and pleased she made some progress and is cautiously optimistic....go back today. I spend about 4 hours a day caring for her, which I am pleased to do. I've had a lot of dogs of many breeds, but never one like her. She's only 6 years old, so hope to have many more years.

According to some friends that stopped by yesterday to pick up some squash we picked, bears are taking over Beaverdam...they are on a Facebook group that shares info, and the hot topic is bears. I talked to our across-the-road neighbors last week and they are seeing a mama and 2 cubs...and a mama with 3, and we're seeing what we believe is a young male and an older one.

Rip, probably not worth your drive down here, but we are getting overrun with squash, zucchini and jalapenos now. All could be added to the grill with your chicken.

Happy Friday and Happy Independence Day Eve.

Waiting for first cup of coffee to cool. 62° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 91° with mix of sun and clouds. Dogs got a bath yesterday. Painted some primer on barn. Today my family is having a get together wishing my aunt the best as she moves to VA after selling her MI home. Everyone will be social distancing and wearing mask. I have a Dr appointment after the gathering.
Deer that I got picture of awhile ago was out with her fawn yesterday. Did not have a camera with me.
Another lily picture. Picture shows more yellow than it is.

David, I bought a Ryobi Expandit gas trimmer during the winter. Now have 5 different attachments for it. I found some great deals on parts and attachments at Direct tool outlet. Not a Stihl. But they work good for my place. My HF Lynxx stuff works good. But I needed something that would use a metal blade for heavier stuff like Thistles. Not sure about shipping to HI.

Drew, hope you can get place you want in PA when you leave NC.

Eric, I like the water flow you created.

PJ, layoff are tough even without CV. You are going to like 4 day work weeks. Do you have a choice witch day you take off?

Rich, glad repair went well.

Don, is getting the exemption worth it. Maybe out in Pecos?

Kyle, one of the reasons I like my job that lasted 40 years. Something new almost every day.

RS, have not looked in birdhouses. Menards has extended 11% another week.

Roy, good friend got new teeth. Lost weight in the beginning. Back to normal weight after he got adjusted to new teeth. Takes awhile.

Everyone be safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

BEF, what a difference a year has made in our health!
.

A year ago today I had pneumonia, but I was packing the camper and leaving for a 4 night camping trip. Didn’t end that well. At least I didn’t get stranded on an island with gilligan. Lol

Wngsprd, my best friend was Reds fan. We went at it a lot.

As we expect, unfortunately, Summer has arrived in north Texas. 74 degrees for a low temperature, going for a high of 97 and not a breath of air moving; not a leaf on a tree moving anywhere in sight.

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Saw what I took to be a smoke cloud to the south evening before last, and it came from a 136 acre fire. Several more fires in the same area yesterday, kept small by rapid responses from firefighters. Now there's some speculation that there's an arsonist at work.

Seventeen new CV19 cases in the county yesterday, and the death of an 80 year old with complications. Seventy-One in isolation, three in hospital. The total here has climbed 10x in just a few weeks here, and I'm having second thoughts about trips to town.

I'll join the clamor for Jay. Facebook's no help; his last post there was in 2017. Hope he's doin' OK, and your note gets a response, Drew.

That's good news about Coco, Billy, hope there's more at the vet's today.

The deer here would make a banquet out of your lilies, Ron. How do you keep them out of yours?

Glad you have a new friend, Drew, and hope your progress continues.

Looks like a lot of water in your new channel, Eric. Is it due to all the rain you've had lately, or are you draining the pond you were excavating?

Glad your mechanical adventure had a happy ending, Rich. Hopefully with that upgrade, you'll never have to do that again!

Sounds like my kind of fishing, Bruce. That one looks like it was all mouth!

Sounds like you're back to your old self, RS, quite a busy day you had! Sounds like a big clutch of bluebirds, too.

Wish I had a CNC wiz like you as a neighbor, Kyle. Just not in Texas. Hope you get to the bottom of the tomato mystery chomper. And soon!

Glad the spacers worked out for you, Ken. You're an inspiration: I ordered some for the Kubota yesterday. After looking at a couple of other suppliers, I settled on a set from Bora, who turns out to be right over the mountain in Reno. One piece aluminum, six inches a side. Also looking forward to safer side hilling.

Christmas came early yesterday, with no less than seven mail orders showing up at once. Several were well ahead of the week or more predicted at Amazon, so maybe they're starting to catch up. One of those was overnight, a beautiful Kukko gear and bearing separating set I've been eyeing for quite a while.

Got half way through wiring the door lock relays for the van yesterday, only to finally realize I don't have enough of the correct relays. They should be here on Sunday. Ran the harnesses for glass break, shock, and tilt sensors, only to find out they all need to be spliced together in parallel because the "brain" only has one sensor input.:confused2: Now it looks like an explosion in a spaghetti factory under the dash, even after neatly bundling all the unused wires. Turns out remote start is a pretty complicated thing to implement, and it's a good thing I have no interest in it. Got far enough along I can start testing today, after first pairing one of the keyfob remotes. :crossfingers:

Enjoyed a beer or three on the back porch, waiting on the chicken to cook on the BBQ. A lizard friend decided to join me; ran right over and took meal worms out of my hand. Another one saw what was going on and got it's fill, too. Then the two of them just kinda hung out; Jimmy Buffett was on the stereo, do you think they might be Parrot Heads?

TGIF gang!:drink:

Good morning! 74˚F heading to 100˚F.

They count covid19 Negative test in Texas as "False negatives" if the person has any of the symptoms. So my Mom was counted positive until her 3rd negative test and a more precise blood test before she was allowed to leave the covid unit. Up to 40% of the negative cases are reported as Positives (False Negatives). So my question how many other people like my mom get lumped into the positives and then get unnecessarily exposed? How many then become positive?
New COVID-19 definitions by the state could raise case counts in Collin County | Community Impact Newspaper

Bird if your wife got tested they would call her a False negative and count her like they did my mom.

Just bars are re-closed and restaurants are back from 75% to 50%. Today is the first full day of mandatory face mask.

With several projects around the house there is no need to leave.

I'm glad Coco has a good caretaker. I hope she keeps making progress. I'm glad you have the time to do it.

Garden sharing....is a good thing.

Leaping lizards RNG. That van system sounds complicated. You should've bought my neighbor's house. :) No telling what projects a couple of us codgers could get in to. Speaking of, where's our Wyoming buddy CWB?

Eric, will this lower your pond's water level?

Drew, hope you share stories with your neighbor.

I hope all of you have a great day.

Prayers.

It was an overcast, humid 67ºF for today's low temperature and it was a humid 74ºF, H = 83%, DP = 68ºF while I was éelepathically communicating with one for the frequent flyers here to my north.

I am probably personally dealing with a long term cycling depression and May-June seems to be the time where I am at my most depressed and I just shut down until my attitude improves. I think this happened here last year as well. C-19 really has not helped, but honestly/sadly not that much has changed for us other than no movies/museums and eating out excepting takeout. My Wife has only been out of town 1X since April.

I am rarely at a loss for words, but I still am having challenges trying to describe what has happened during my absence here other than my Wife had some kind of "bad" interaction/reaction to a new BP med to add to her mix of BP meds and other meds that she is already taking. In the 30 years that I dealt with diagnostic/clinical assessments I never saw what my Wife was exhibiting. The research that I did on her med mix did not "fit" the behavioral and cognitive presentation that I was seeing. There was a mix of delirious and dementing behaviors. For a week I was afraid to leave her alone due to her agitation and unpredictable behaviors. That posted her mental status has since returned to normal. In hindsight, there was probably some infection driving this.

I do not scare easily. I was freakin out with this.

Lose a day here and it takes almost forever to get caught up; miss a month and one is lost.

In a nutshell:

Ongoing activities outside.

Curbside pickups are a way of life and other shoppers continue to exhibit social avoidant behaviors in the supermarket.

Our bear problem got out of control and We are no longer feeding and counting birds. We are lucky only screens and screen frames where destroyed. Brogen tried to get through one of our 2nd story windows, but did not fit.

A woodchuck ate all our sugar snap peas and did a number on our bok choy and kale. I have since resorted to active biological warfare = dog turd bombs in all the woodchuck holes that I have found and today I sprayed the bok chop, kale, and bush beans with a seriously high % of hot sauce (357,000 Scoville Units) mixed with 1 G of water. I marked the garden afterwards and I am still burning where the sun don.

It looks like I will be spending a few rainy days trying to get caught back up.

Thomas thank you.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.
