Looks like those vise jaws will be better than new when you're through, RS.

Hopefully the screws will at least hold this time around.

Glad that I didn't get in too big of a hurry and waited until a (theoretically) "good" solution presented itself.

I've never seen vertical notches in one before, and they look like they could be very handy.

They are. I've used them a number of times for holding pipe and round stock while working ...

Hope you are able to get your solar installation adventure fully resolved to your satisfaction ... ;)

RS, yesterday I went to use the vice for a quick fix of something and I could not get it to cinch down.... ? ? ? .... sure enough one of the screws was backed out and the other was really loose... then I see your post / pics this morning..... strange.

:D

LS,

One of the problems I was having with mine was that I could get it to tighten up and close, but when I went to loosen and open it up, the jaws would loosen but not open up - you had to pull it open by hand ... :confused3:

The bolt that secures the top half of the vise to the base (via the internal "nut" for the Acme screw) had worked its way out ... so the top half was mostly just sitting there by virtue of its own weight (and the clamp/locking mechanism for the swivel)

Good luck with your painting project ...

very depressed this morning, first they insinuated out of here by end of week. Now another 9 days.
Going to be hard to take. I was acing PT, no idea why big delay, feel like I'm in jail
more chemo next week

Drew,

I hope you can find out what's going on with the apparent delay.

In the meantime, try not to let it add stress ... it is whatever it is.

Get well soon my friend ...

A clear and sunny 58ºF for today's low temperature. *Presently a mixed sun and clouds and 78ºF, *Today's high should reach into the low 80ºF's. *I am hoping for some rain tonight-tomorrow. *Hopefully with a couple of embedded T-storms. A bear come by this morning ~4:00AM, but there was nothing to eat nor break. Brogen made his usual ruckus, but there was nothing for him to break either. The Baltimore Orioles have shifted their attention from the oranges that we put out to the sugar water in the B.O. feeder = they have a successful brood. The tomatoes are now planted, caged, and staked. Plan for the remainder of the day = stay out of the heat, take a shower, travel down the road to the bakery for a curbside pickup of a white pizza and some bread. Today their special is sourdough rye.

Drew- My ongoing + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

BEF- Thanks for sharing your sunset. There was quite a bit of weather action to your north and to my south. I had a non-weather event here.

Bruce- As to all the rain it’s like Mother Nature turned off the spigot. This was the pattern the past 3 years if I remember correctly. I have to water the gardens daily this year.

Eric- Thanks for the laugh and the picture of Max speaking with a forked and hairy tongue.

Buppies- I am sorry to read about your cousin. May he RIP.

RNG- Nice moon picture.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

... Birds use my waterfalls for bird bath.

Nice ...

Don, over the years I had to replace fuel line on my Stihl saw a couple of times. There is better fuel line than OEM.

Yup ... been there and done that ... several times now.

IIRC, Tygon fuel hose is what you want ... it's very flexible, almost resembles silicone rubber.

It's less prone to deterioration with ethanol ... but I believe it too will eventually breakdown, just takes a lot longer.

Eric,

Hilarious picture of Max ...

I couldn’t sleep last night. Too much stuff going on in the world. Got up for awhile at 3 am, went back to bed at 4:30am or so. Finally got a little sleep till wife woke me at 9 to see if I was ok.
Working by 9:30. One nice thing about working from home, the commute is short, and clothing is optional.
Wife went to her mom’s for a few days. Some family drama going on with wife’s sister, I’ll leave it at that. My wife will do some zoom meetings with her dad in hospital so her mom can see him.
Need to transfer one car to my son, time for registration renewal and he paid me for it.

Haven’t seen dad since thanksgiving.
My sister and BIL who both had Covid went to see him for first time since they are recovered. They said they wore masks, wiped things down. They had to do his taxes and give him a haircut.

Year ago I had my first of 2 pneumonia’s that led to my GBS and 2 months in hospital/ rehab.
An awful time except the PT and OT people were excellent.

In MD numbers of positive tests down to around 8% of those tested, had been high as 30% when you had to have the symptoms to even get a test. But still over 800 per day.

Be your best advocate, Drew. Make them explain and keep asking until YOU understand. They should count their lucky stars GM is not there in person.

RNG,check voltages at combiner box, same voltage going into CC? Hopefully they started CC correctly, set voltage first.

rswyan- That's a great recipe. It reads to be great eats. I am happy to read that you were able get fresh rosemary.

Jay ... it turned out very good ... although I was surprised that the lamb "flavor" was a little stronger than I expected it to be ... (the cuts were really well marbled with quite a bit of fat, so maybe that had something to do with it)

Since most of the lamb I eat is prepared with a spicy Indian recipe (Vindaloo) I guess I tend not to notice it as much I guess ... :confused3:

In any event, The Woman actually liked it ... which I found to be pretty surprising, because if it ain't chikin she usually isn't really very interested ...

We eat a lot of lamb and dried rosemary does not cut it = I keep two rosemary plants. I keep them under grow lights in my cellar garden all Winter and replant them the following Spring. Mine are going back to the garden tomorrow. Another nice rosemary recipe is rosemary encrusted baked potatoes. Fresh rosemary is best, but dried rosemary will work with this dish.

The fresh herbs really do make a huge difference, don't they ? :D

The Woman has been wanting a little herb garden for the longest time ... guess I need to add that to the list for this summer ...

I spent the morning taking out trip hazards in one of my walking paths. I've been tripping over these tree/sapling stubs on my walking path for years; I do not think that I'll miss them. My new hedge trimming attachment is really sharp. I cut myself removing the scabbard. It worked as expected. Tomorrow I'll be taking out the branches that I've been ducking under for the same time period with the pruning saw attachment.

That Kombi system looks pretty slick ...

Yep, Tygon's good stuff, but not all of it is compatible with the new gas. I've been using Tygon F-4040-A for a while now with good results. It's an ugly translucent yellow color, though.

It was the end of the day, they guy had been hurrying all day, and he was almost three hours late in leaving for home with a two hour drive ahead of him. He was POed, losing his patience, and I think it's just a mistake made somewhere along the way. Probably in the configuration or programming, and my money is on the programming. That kind of thing never goes well under stress.

I did get through to the salesman this am, who was surprised (he hadn't heard from any of the crew), and he said he'd nose around to see what's going on. I emphasized to him that I didn't want anyone thrown under the bus, but do need some action to ensure the system is as reliable as promised. We shall see...

Sounds like the stuff I've been using ... same color at any rate ... :D

Wow. Your experiences with the highest levels of incompetency over the last few years have been an incredible roller coaster to read. Have you considered writing a book? Maybe along the lines of a "If You Want It Done Right, ..." kind of thing?

Dangerous Thunderstorm Alert issued just before I was about to hop in the shower, currently experiencing a torrential downpour ... :(

This promises to be another one that has the culvert overflowing if it keeps up ...
