Heading to Connecticut this morning to deliver a tool and parts to a supplier. I'm a Quality Engineer and delivery is not usually my function...but our truck driver is out and I do have a truck. Shouldn't take more then 5-6 hours for the round trip...

Not my normal function as the Quality Manager here either, but I seem to do it quite a bit, too. Usually just dropping off or picking up stuff from our tool maker over in Illinois. But sometimes it's a more adventurous trip across Missouri or to various parts of Illinois. I don't mind too much, and generally try to see it as a field trip ... a chance to get out of the facility once in awhile.

Have a safe trip, Roy.

63F, overcast, intermittent rain ... so no outside work today ... :(

Cleaning that 4th bluebird house is definitely still on the list.

Also have two more that I forgot about that need cleaned, repainted, and refurbished - they are a couple of wren houses that The Woman picked up at a garage sale or something for next to nothing. I believe they might be made of pine - although I might be wrong about that. They still have enough of the original decorative paint left on them that I can probably use it as a pattern to restore them.

Today's work schedule will mostly be "technology-focused" though ... :D

Hope everyone has a safe, productive, and enjoyable day.

Good morning to all! Low last night? The wind was just horrible! Quieted down around 3am. A cold front moved across, stirring everything up. Beautiful morning outside now, nice and cool. High should be 78, not high eighties like previously forecasted. Heat returns by the end of the week. We definitely need some rain, but none in the near forecast.

Wng, speaking of motivation, I usually am really motivated to start projects, get them about 98% completed, then really find it hard to do those last few little touches to officially complete. A prime example... I started the porch roof, have it mostly completed, but hard to find the motivation to paint a small 16’ beam. The landscaping project is almost complete, but it was to have a double layer of the wood border logs.... still only a single layer. It is the last thing to do for official completion... half of the wood is laying where it needs to go, the rest in a pile...

Now I have to decide if I will paint the beam or finish the wood border.... or .... should I start on the next project?.... decisions, decisions.....

I remember hearing something about that a true craftsman always leaves a small something that has to be completed.....

Ron, anxiously awaiting the next drone video...

RNG, you too.... an aerial fly around the new tractor.... some action shots digging with the new BH....

Thomas, any new signs of BooBoo and family?

Looks like RNGs pic is poking someone's eye out. My doctors at John's Hopkins may like a word with that operator.

Oops, sorry Rip!

I opened the door on the van and propped the iPad on the driver's seat, and got kind of a crooked, cramped, shot. Just not a lot of room left on the driveway with that tractor on there...

David, hope they can get Sophie’s schedule figured out. Difficult times to try and arrange something like that. I hope she is not in much distress and continues to be able to manage it.

Time to go prioritize some projects and complete something....

It's on the todo list, Ted, but today's a bit gray for good photography. Besides, I need some practice before I can show off with the tractor for the camera.

... RS haircut? I am jealous ...

Yeah ... you might wanna hold off on that.

I decided I wanted to take a break towards the end of it (sitting on a stool with no back support for any length of time bothers my back) so we did.

She had it all done - except for the final pass on the top which still needs flattened out.

When I asked later if she wanted to finish it up she said she didn't feel like it ... so it got put off until who knows when ... :D

Your sidewalk is looking good ... I need to do that here ...

54°F and intermittent rain this morning, going up to 57° today.

Wife and I were getting ready to go to bed last night when our phones started going nuts with alerts. We'd been watching the storm front getting closer, and had planned to lay in bed and watch the light show through the windows. One of the alerts was a tornado warning. I hesitated a bit, thinking that we get warnings now even if there is a tornado in an adjacent county. After looking outside again, we decided to head to the basement. We turned on the television to a local news station to see them talking about heavy rotation between Highland and Trenton. That's us! When they zoomed in on the radar, it was moving right along the Madison/Clinton County line, which is about a mile north of us. It was moving east at 40mph, so it passed quickly. When I left for work this morning, I took the northern route to drive through there. I saw a bunch of trees down, with one against the front of a farm house just about a 1/4 mile north of the county line, and one barn further north and east that had some significant damage to the roof and at least one wall. Most of the damage I saw seemed to be in and east of the St. Morgan area. Nothing too serious, but a lot of chainsaws will be buzzing today.

Speaking of chain saws ... I called the Harbor Freight store in North St. Louis County yesterday afternoon, and a kind young fella there checked and told me they had a few of the Lynxx 40v chainsaws in stock there. So, I swung by there after work to pick one up. When I got there, there were none on the shelf, so I asked one of the guys at the checkout counter. He asked if I'd called earlier, and when I said yes, he turned around and picked one up sitting on the counter behind him, which he'd set aside for me. Very cool. Used the coupon from the HF coupon database to get it for $149. I also noticed that they'd rearranged that store since the last time I was there. All the isle are now running sideways, and they've clearly acquired some more space next to them, as the place is huge now.

I also stopped at Walmart in Highland on the way home to pick up some fruit and bread at The Wife's request. Since they never have any of the smaller carts inside anymore, I always grab one from outside on my way in. They had them all strapped together, so I loosened the strap and took the first one from the stack. When I pushed it in the front door, there was a guy in there disinfecting the full-size carts. He stopped and gave me the most entertaining sneer I've seen in a long time. I smiled and went inside. Found everything I was there for, and left through the same door, with the same guy still sneering at me. I smiled and nodded to him, and out I went. After loading my stuff in the car, I took the cart back to where I got it, and noticed they'd re-strapped the other carts together again. I understood why they were not taking the smaller carts inside during the holiday shopping season, but I'll never understand why they are continuing to do it in April.

Welcome to the GM thread, gstrom99.

I just got up from being up most of the night due to the storms. We ended up having 2 strong thunderstorms, each hailing on us marble sized stones. I can't sleep when this happens, just listening for the "locomotive" sound and watching the radar. We ended up with 2" of rain. We needed rain.

At one mfg facility I worked at on night shift, our QC guy weighed 400+ lbs and did everything from a roll around office chair. One night a torrential rain hit us and it over flowed the drainage ditch beside the building. I had him out there manning battle stations with a wide squeegee.....in his roll around chair. He only lasted about a month at our place and he quit.

welcome gstrom.

wng, your truck is getting better mileage than my altima. :)

Had to quickly go through a bunch of posts....Happy Belated Anniversary Bird and wifey.

Prayers.

The Mini supports three flight modes, Ron. Cinema mode slows down the time the drone takes to respond to pushes on the joysticks, and I've found it helpful when recording video. If I remember correctly, it is accessed by hitting the circle with a letter in it at the upper left hand corner of the GoFly app. Default mode is Performance, so that circle will probably have a P in it. There's also a Sport mode that offers faster speeds and faster reaction times. Could be useful if combating a stiff wind to get the drone home, but I won't fly in anything stronger than a light breeze, so I leave that one alone.

I used Cinema mode to take the video. I did try sport and found it way to fast for me until I get better at controls
