Need to pour first cup of coffee. 35° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 59° with abundant sun. Got equipment moved around between 2 barns yesterday. Now I can get a attachment with having to emptying barn. Day 20 of stay at home. Going to break the string on days and go get the 5 gallons of gas I need. Mask, gloves and hand sanitizer already out ready for use. Then it's back home and start count all over again. Going to start cleanup of yard. Our Governor has declared a State of Disaster yesterday. Not sure what is going to mean in the future. Whatever that means I am OK for another 3 weeks.
The count keeps going up here in MI.
9334 cases, 337 deaths.
Oakland County
1910 cases.
99 deaths.

Eric, glad you made it back from the swamp.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Good morning. Chilly 32 now, supposed to get to 53 or so today.

Working on cup #2 of coffee. Finding this working at home has reduced my coffee consumption.

Mowed part of the yard yesterday for the first time. It really needed it. Other parts need no attention.

Work at home almost came to a halt. Internet service went out last afternoon yesterday. Call to technical support was painful. This service has had so many outages in the 3 years we have had it, I usually know what is wrong with it. After 1.5 hours on the phone with technical support, they FINALLY did a system check which is what I told them they needed to do to start the call. Yep, their system is done.

Then this morning, an advertisement for their å*µreat internet service showed up in my Facebook feed. I left some appropriate comments, suitable for public consumption. But pretty clear what I thought of the service. It was amazing how quickly they were in contact.

So far, got everything functioning off my phone hotspot. Hope it keeps working

Locally, we are up to 14 cases of the plague 0 deaths

Everyone stay safe out there

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 4:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 67F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Glad you survived your swamp adventure, Eric, and that The Creature From The Black Lagoon stayed asleep at the bottom of all that muck. Does all that still water act as a breeding pool for mosquitoes?

When the emergency declaration was issued for California, the main justification was eligibility for federal disaster recovery funds. When the local town of Chico also declared an emergency, it became eligible for certain funds at the state level, and the City Manager was given authority to act without City Council approval so as to improve response time. In both instances, I haven't seen any sweeping changes such as curfews or rationing, but there seems to be a lot of money in the federal bail out bill that can only be defined as pork for special interests. :2cents:

Glad you have a path forward for your back now, Drew, even with the delays in treatment. Strong hopes for a positive outcome when the time comes for the procedure.

Thanks for your masterful recaps, Mostly. It's a Herculean task trying to keep up with GM these days; maybe I'll just read your daily contribution instead?:cloud9:

For the second day in a row yesterday, I received a USPS delivery notice for a package that never arrived. I called the PO yesterday about the first time, and they said they'd talk to the carrier about it, but that doesn't seem to have done the trick. From the posts on your neighborhood Facebook group, I'm not the only one having problems with the new person in the job, but I hope they get the hang of it sooner rather than later.

It was such a pretty morning yesterday with bright sun and big puffy white clouds, and light wind, I couldn't resist spending a few minutes with the drone in the air. I wanted to see what all that gravel looks like from overhead, and it's pretty apparent that the edges need some attention once the backhoe comes off the tractor. It's also obvious that I need to practice my flying more regularly, as several times I got disoriented and sent the thing off in the wrong direction. It's easy to do when it's 80 feet up and looks like a tiny dot in the sky. I was hoping that the bigger screen on the iPad would make the control screen easier to see, but the developers at DJI haven't taken advantage of it and the display remains cell phone sized. I do like the glare shield, but the screen still isn't bright enough in full sun. Mostly, though, I just need more practice.

Manged to get the forms and rebar set for the first of four concrete pours yesterday, and I hope to get the first 3' x 13' section done today. Forty something bags of concrete, mixed two bags at a time, ten minutes a batch, gonna be a long haul.

The propane folks are still working, and thought they might be able to come in and finish installation of the new tank on Monday next week. Only trouble is we're supposted to get an inch or so of rain on Sunday, and I'd rather not see their big truck go sliding down the hill in the mud. So we'll see how it looks on Monday morning, and probably reschedule for later in the week.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!:dance1:

I could never tell if or when I was in afib, my wife could.
I would have to get the blood pressure cuff and reader and watch the readings.
I had 3 conversions at different times and several different meds and they couldn't get under control.
Ended up getting an ablation (were they go in and scar the heart to prevent the electric pulses from traveling),
as the afib is unwanted electrical signals.

I had one conversion last August and ha not had problems until the change in meds.

Made it back from rest of the world. At gas station people were talking to each other and not keeping distance. TSC is across street from gas station. Ran in there and got 2 hydraulic hoses. Not one person wearing protection. Person behind me at register did keep distance. I used one mask, 1 pair of gloves, 2 small garbage bags and sprayed and wiped everything down with disinfectant. Washed face and hands with soap and water. Threw coat and clothes in washing machine. Then took a shower.
Am I paranoid? :confused3:
Or don't people understand what is going on? :confused2:

Good morning,

Despite paddling for a couple of hours in the wetland yesterday, I wasn't able to get a definitive answer as to where all the water goes. The flow was visible, however instead of flowing down to a single point, it spreads and then disappears over 20', so I think it must be passing through the base of the rail track instead of in the drain below.

View attachment 648767 View attachment 648768

I found the faded baler twine that I tied to the railroad fence some 17 years ago, which lined up with the outfall on the other side, but just like then, I couldn't locate any pipe entrance on my land, I think it must be buried deep under silt on the railroad property. My neighbour's brother once went at it with drain rods from the other side of the track. I wasn't there to see it, but by all accounts he came home looking like a swamp creature from a horror film.

BEF, do take care - a search for wicked club shows people getting a lot closer than CV social distancing guidelines :confused2: :)

Rick, may I ask what the stump killing active ingrediant is in the "Remedy" that you mix with diesel ?

Its triclopyr Eric.

I said “Remedy” because that’s what many are familiar with. I actually use Alligare triclopyr 4. It works on “woody” plants. I use it clearing yaupon. I cut it about 12” above the ground, brush on the diesel / triclopyr mix and leave it. Usually within a few months, the stumps decay right at ground level and just break off. The roots just decompose.

Triclopyr 4 EC Compare to Garlon 4 and Remedy 1 Quart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M8C4YNM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_68DHEb60EVBT3

44°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 66° today.

Wife and I took a walk around the pasture when I got home from work, and discussed the plan to clear the existing fence line and add new fence along two sides. We talked entirely too long with the neighbor Dave, who's new fencing around his horse pastures inspired us to do the same. He's a painter by trade, and said he's been busier than ever the past few weeks, as everyone is sitting at home and looking at the things they want painted.

Finished the mowing after that, all except the still swampy area down by the road.

Boss just called me and told me I'll likely be making that trip to deliver parts to the customer today. Looks like I'm getting a field trip after all. At least it's a nice day (not 20°F and snowing) and I have a new car this time . It's also only about 140 miles, not 250.

39 and sunny here. Put out a new bird house yesterday and today need to reshuffle some gravel. Hope to get the tractor out to move some stone. Finished painting the skid plate, will try to attach before I go out for the rocks.
Phil, I used to be up in Savoy and pass through Holyoke every now and then, I hope the folks in that home make it through ok.

Good morning! 61,cloudy. Off to a rough start. Almost stepped on snake in the garage then realized it was a present from Gray2. Put ground cloves on oatmeal instead of cinnamon. Posted my good morning post on the Coronavirus thread.

Like most things, I think it varies greatly from person to person. I stopped at a UPS Store on the way home from work yesterday to return a wrong Amazon shipment. As I was walking from my car up to the door, an employee came out and wiped the door handle. When I got inside there were a couple people in line and two at the counter, all spaced apart about six feet. The store had installed plastic shields across the front of each register station, leaving openings for packages to be placed on the scales. No contact with the girl behind the counter at all; I put the box on the scale, she scanned the paperwork while I held it, then passed me the receipt.

A breezy mixed sun/clouds 33ºF for today's low temperature; conditions unchanged and 37ºF presently; and I anticipate increasing clouds and maybe winds later today with an afternoon high in the low to mid 40ºF's and rain later. An impressive looking retrograding low pressure system off the coast today. I really have to take a look at all the tree work done here today, and figure out as to how I am going to process and stack the new cordwood.

Randy- Good luck.

Phil- I had a couple of cases at the Holyoke Veterans Home years ago. There have been occasional complaints about the quality of care provided residents for many years. I remember smelling urine there which is a very bad signal of what's going on or more importantly not.

"... Eric....you are a brave man. No way I would go in that muck."- Mike I agree. Ever since I saw the leech scene with Humphrey Bogart I've have 2nd and 3rd thoughts about entering muck.

"... Thanks for your masterful recaps, Mostly. It's a Herculean task trying to keep up with GM these days; maybe I'll just read your daily contribution instead?"- RNG Bruce does us all a favor.

RonJH- I really do not think that you are being paranoid or excessive with your "Universal Precaution" routine.

Paul- Good luck with your road trip. I think those sneeze guards shields at customer service and checkout is a great idea.

Ken- We were almost neighbors.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Having been in charge of the safety section in the police department many years ago, I don't fault anyone for taking all the precautions he can. Unfortunately, I have no masks, disposable gloves, or much disinfectant, but I AM trying to stay away from other people.

I just got a shower and a load of laundry going. 59 degrees this morning, going for a high of 73 with a southerly breeze; only about 16 mph at present. But there's supposedly a 20% chance of rain today and a much greater chance the next few days, so I got an early start and mowed, edged, and trimmed the yard while we didn't have a heavy dew today as we've been having.

went out and mowed a little up and down the lane, mostly to pull the leaf blower behind me and blow off
all the junk that came down in last night's wind.
I was outside the door all of five minutes before I started sneezing.
Came back in a half hour later, eyes itching, tearing, had to wash my face carefully to get the pollen off me.

The house looks as nice as I can get it for pictures, took a lot of piles of paper and stuff and put them in plastic bins, temporarily.
Replaced one light bulb in storage room, it's only been out for a year...

I think I'm wearing my mask while the realtors and camera man are here.
Now if I could get one with the Nike logo, I'd be extra hip...;)

Phil,
We used to go fishing on Cheshire lake and swimming in Mohawk park off route 2. Lots of great people up there, miss the maple syrup, used to get it from the neighbors. Our place was right up against the State forest and we used to hike the trails all the time.
One of the reasons I live in eastern PA, get a bit of mountain but close to family and cities.

Greetings morning guys. Here is a link to instructions for homemade masks. Might be better than nothing.
