It hit 70° here today, beautiful day. Still 50° outside.
I accepted the offer of the part time job at the dealership. I can name my hours and he only needs about 16 hours a week, that about suits me. I need some structure but not too much.

I understand since it's been only 5 month I retire...hmmm.

46F clear sky mid 50's for high.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Super moon or some may call worm moon made lot easier to notice wildlife last night
Plans for today...Rake areas where I can pickup branches limbs where I can until rain arrives early afternoon.

Enjoy the day all.

RNG, drone flying is supposed to be difficult, you make it seem far too easy. Next time try zooming over the water while standing on one leg, blindfolded - your GM audience enjoys a bit of "mild peril" :D

Dodging the chimney and roof was plenty of "mild peril" for the foreseeable future, Eric. I stand in awe of all the pioneers like Jay that pieced together their own drones without the benefit of fancy stability algorithms and miniaturized components, and still managed to take very decent video. All the credit on my end goes to the drone, which almost flies itself. If there's to be a crash, it'll be because I pushed the wrong button or lever. If we're lucky, there'll be video to share, but I often forget to push that button, too...:confused3:

58 mild and breezy this morning started filling in large low area three loads another 10 to go and more trees across the front removed

Good luck with tests today Drew

Sounds like nice walk wngsprd

Prayers for all

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 50° with light rain this morning. Heading to 52° with some sun as temperatures dip into the 40° in afternoon. Got some garden cleanup done yesterday. Not sure what will get done today. My 91 years old aunt is visiting me. While her inside of her house is being painted. It will be all I can do to keep up with her.

RNG, great video. I have a iPad Pro with GPS. Must have cellular. Sitting down and operating drone looks like a good way to keep drone controls in right prospective. Still waiting on my tax refund.

PJ, I like your new car.

LS, mower looks good in blue. Good unload. As far as pallet forks. When you have a set there are many more projects you will find to use them on.

Wngsprd, I will back up Rick on the Lynxx pole saw. I will give good reviews on all the Lynxx tools except the trimmer. Not up to my standards after owning a Stihl for years.
Sounds like a good walk. Some people get big dogs without considering their ability to control them. I went the other way. After a 1/4 mile walk. Sassy puts the brakes on telling me she wants to be carried.

Randy, enjoy the part time job.

Red Top, :welcome: to GM !!!

Roy, say it isn't so. I see mowing at least 6 weeks out. Only snow left here is where I piled it up clearing an area.

David, good brace project.

Jay, now you got me concerned about my spending on cameras and lenses.

Buckeye, glad Dr appointment went well.

Hawkeye, one of the most complicated part of my retirement is keeping track of the company I retired from benefit package. They have changed administrators 4 times in 16 years. They have sent me the data. But where did I put it? :confused3:

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 4:00AM. Sunny. High 77F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Don't do too good a job, Randy, your boss'll be wantin' to increase yer hours!

Lots of nice things come from California, Drew, but I don't think coconut water is one of 'em...:yuck:

:welcome: MF243RedTop. If it's already this warm in March, what's it gonna be like in July?

The Super Worm Moon is casting shadows outside this morning, Thomas. Very bright!

Glad you pulled off the delivery without a hitch, Ted. I take it there was no lift gate on the FedEx truck?

Hope the Rio lasts at least as long as the old Soul, Paul. It wasn't that long ago that 100K miles was unattainable in most cars, at least not without regular trips to the auto shop. We've come a long way...

Bound to be some bumps on the way out the door, Hawkeye, but you'll forget all about it that the first Monday you have no one, except maybe the wife, to report to!

Nice job with the press, David. Good to see someone having good luck with hydraulics; around here that's often not the case...

Found an iPad Mini 4 store sample on ebay yesterday that should be here Saturday, which will make a great window in the sky for the drone. Fingers crossed it's as described in the ad, as so many of my ebay misadventures have not been. Turns out my iPad Pro, being WiFi only, doesn't have a GPS chip, and the drone can't tell where I'm at during flight as a result. This new Mini also has cellular capability, and I'm very tempted to see if the AT&T signal here is strong enough to support streaming. We shall see...

Got word yesterday that the bone density scan showed osteopenia and borderline osteoporosis, which helps explain the back pain. Doc sez start taking calcium and vitamin D, and I found a combo pill on Amazon that's almost the perfect dose. Sheesh, another pill to take every morning; I must be gittin' old or sumthin'.

Got almost all of the propane trench filled yesterday, and the 4x6 block idea worked fairly well for compacting the dirt. At least I think it did; how do you tell?:confused3:

Going to see how far my pile of road base gravel goes today spreading a pad for the propane tank. I know I need more for the generator pad and the area under the solar panels, and I'll know how much more once that pile is gone. I'll be using a 16 foot section of 2x6 from the burned out driveway entry that the fire left charred on one side as a grade marker, and later as a concrete form. No sense letting it go to complete waste.

62° headed to 67°, clouds and wind though.
The big all club’s breakfast is Saturday, but not sure I want to be jammed in a firehouse with 300 people with all that’s going on.
Our monthly former coworkers breakfast is this week, I feel a little better about it.

Got a pot of sausage chili in the slow cooker, if it tastes as good as it smells...

We have to drop off Ellen’s Edge for Armor coating, whatever that is.its actually a package of coatings for all the surfaces, paint, leather, carpet, etc... Probably not something I would buy, but they threw it in to help close the deal. I’m not stupid enough to think it was free, but she is happy as a clam and I ain’t stirring the pot.

Have a good day guys, check in later. Prayers.

43°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 51° today. As much as I'm not in favor of monkeying with time all the time, I surely didn't hate having all that daylight when I got home from work last night.

Good-looking mower, Ted, made better with a little blue paint.

Welcome to the GM thread, MF243RedTop.

Wifey and I were talking yesterday about getting the mowers and trimmers tuned up for Spring, Roy. Things are starting to green up around here, too.

Congrats on the new position, Randy.

Yeah, RNG, I remember when 100K miles was almost an incredible achievement, the domain of over-engineered German luxury cars and that ilk. Now, we seem pretty spoiled with pretty much every car hitting that mark and beyond. The experience with the Soul has admittedly tainted my outlook on vehicle longevity, though. With this one, I suspect I'll be looking to trade again once it gets around 150K. Not looking to get stranded 250 miles from home again because I put my faith in an aging vehicle.
But then ... we get the occasional story about some guy who's coaxed over a million miles out of an old Volvo or even an F-150, and it kind of renews hope, even for a cheap Kia.

Good morning! 57˚F foggy. I have scalped, fertilized, top-dressed and watered the yard, with the warm temps I expect the brown yard to be green by next week. Too wet to do much today after a day of light rain yesterday.
Lot's of new toys on the morning thread, mowers, drones and cars, we are having way too much fun. Randy hope you enjoy your new PT job and Drew hope they find the name to your ailments.

Had cards last night and the couple that taught us how to play hand and foot has moved to 2 bed room Assisted living, They are just in their 80s, moved good and were "with it" but he has a terminal illness.

24F this morning with winter storm coming this weekend (at least that is the current forecast).. temps in teens for a few days..

FIL had a procedure yesterday that is supposed to help his vocal cord (one is being lazy) along with swallowing. He is on 72hr voice rest and not to talk. He has a button on his chest saying that and a sign on the door. He is not supposed to talk until Thursday, he doesn't usually talk very much so perhaps it won't be too bad for him.. if he starts swallowing ok then they pull the feeding tube and get him on regular food and then he will be released to care facility.. if he doesn't start swallowing, then they put a port in his stomach to feed him and the tube in his nose comes out. He can be released to care facility with stomach port but not with tube in his nose.

Markets have been making us nervous about retirement for sure.

Stay safe, prayers for all.

Good morning to all! Low of 36, going to a high of 64, party cloudy.

Not much going on today, Drs appt. for pre-op clearance, stop at Wally World for a couple of things, then home to assemble the mower.

Thanks for the + comments on the mower / blue paint. It is one of my OCD things.... equipment has to look good as well as perform. I clean all of my hand tools, power tools, etc....

Hawkeye, hope your FIL does ok with the swallowing issue, that has to be hard.... Good luck with the countdown to retirement!

Drew, good luck at the Drs visit.

Got to get moving, stuck in a rut this morning....

Everyone have a great day!

After practice flying "O"s the other day, I thought I'd get some tips from YouTube. Found this video, which shows an experienced pilot trying to teach his noob buddy five different maneuvers. They were using a budget drone, and it was not easy. Lots of crashes, fortunately in nice, soft grass, lots of out of control flying. Now I understand why the Mavic Mini was so strongly recommended for newbies like me: Once you take your fingers off the control sticks, it stops whatever it's doing and goes into hover mode. And honestly, I lean on that feature a LOT! Takeoffs and landings are similarly automated, and again, it removes all the drama. The video talks about headless mode, which the Mini does not have, and that's where I still have my biggest challenge. With such a small drone, it's very easy to lose track of which side of it is pointing in the direction of travel. But again, when I lose track. I can let go of the sticks and it just hovers where it is. Then some gentle prodding of the left/right or front/back stick gets me reoriented again. Now I understand how spoiled I've been, right from the beginning. It's not me, it's the drone doing most of the flying!

Here's a better beginner intro to basic flying techniques...

I got several emails yesterday from the HR system, termination notice, questionaire, etc. Manager apologized to group about all the emails, but he had to put our last day in the system and it auto generated all the notifications.. I went in this morning to complete the questionnaire and it is no longer available, in fact in now shows my termination is rescinded.. Manager says they are going to do them all at once. Interesting that another person retiring at the same time was able to get in and complete questionnaire..

They are using the "generic" checklists for leaving the company and they should have created a specific one for this program with instructions for both managers and individual contributors.

RNG, a drone was on my wish list, but retirement budget does not support it (especially with market bouncing around right now).. I enjoy the discussion about it and will have to just be happy with that.. perhaps an improvement in retirement income in the future will fund a drone..

Good Day all.

I have been back in town for a few weeks now. Playing serious ketchup (lol) and what not. The wife is doing good, and so well in fact, she took the lead and went and purchased a new Kubota for us. A fully dressed MX6000 should be delivered in the AM.

I am trying to find housing for it on the property, but my wife has recommended that I think about rebuilding an old barn that burned down many years ago. The foundation is still in place (rock and concrete) so I think I better do just that.

And yes, I was in quarantine. And have been instructed to stay remote for the foreseeable future. :(

Scanning the last few months, you all seem to be doing well. On the aches and pain front, I seem to have some meniscus damage that developed on a mysterious fashion. But nothing like the issues some of you appear to be dealing with.

I hope all are well, and doing what you enjoy.
