supermarket pretty empty this morning, no sanitizer, no wipes. Otherwise everything was the same.

yesterday I mowed a little, today taking tractor out to mow roadsides of onion grass and tall weeks.
Will mean picking up a lot of trash on the way, goes in the FEL bucket. Also have to be on lookout for broken glass.
Going to be 70 and sunny, nice day to be out. My trans is in Low and staying there...

Good morning to all! Low of 34, going up to only 56. The showers forecasted yesterday were a bust. We just got a few sprinkles..... enough just to curtail outside activities. Sunny and clear as can be right now....

Mostly, nice pic, I cannot believe that the fields are so green already! I also agree with Eric about the socks.... even though HE was checking out your legs...

Eric, that number of lambs caught me off guard.... For some reason, I was thinking maybe a third of those numbers. You DO have a lot of work ahead of you!:sheep::sheep:

Buppies,I am envious of your equipment... if you ever need any proving grounds to try any of them out, I volunteer our property.... :thumbsup:

Paul, nice car! The Kia brand puts out some really nice vehicles with all the extras that others charge for. Congratulations. :drink:

Drew, I am glad to hear that you are getting some relief and feeling better. Be careful, sometimes a side effect of Zofran is drowsiness. You can also get a generic called Ondansetron, which would be cheaper. The drowsiness usually occurs within the first hour if at all. Are you still pursuing seeing a specialist?

Roy, nice compact pistol. The smallest I have is a Bersa .380, about the smallest that fits comfortably in my hand. My favorite is my H&K .45, it is just a good fit and feels right. It gives quite a kick, but not like a Desert Eagle 50 AE ... that is just a portable cannon!

He did not get a chance yesterday to put on the acrylic topcoat on the garage floor stain. It was still damp. Turned out really nice. Hopefully he will send me some still pics that I can post in the meantime...

I went to Walmart yesterday for a few items. Every last bottle of bleach was cleared out, the rest of the detergent / cleaning solutions isle looked like a mob went through it... hardly anything left and in all disarray.... lots of other items like canned goods were all cleared out too....

This week is another pre-op appointment week. Final clearance from the primary and to review blood work, then meet with the surgeon for his pre-op, then the hospital for pre-admission stuff.... I will be busy.

Today, I will be anxiously awaiting FedEx delivery of the mower. I never had FedEx deliver a large / bulky item like this. I did not request a lift gate delivery, thinking I would use the tractor to unload. Hopefully they do not have it crammed into a little van....:shocked:

Another nice nuthatch, Ron. Had one land on me once when I was wearing TreeBark camo while bowhunting, so the camo was doing its job. Still have that outfit somewhere, but I'm now sure I'd still be able to get into it now.

That is a steep bank, Buppies. You and that mini-ex are doing some fine work on it, though! What will you put on it to keep the weeds at bay?

All the talk of melting snow and new lambs are good signs of spring. But doesn't it seem like the switch to Daylight Savings Time keeps getting earlier and earlier each year?:shocked:

Anyway, here it is again:

We picked up another 0.02" of rain overnight, but yesterday morning the wind was light and flying the drone was much easier. I learned that when the propeller guards are installed, the drone is smart enough to know it and imposes a 100' altitude limit on itself. So off they came and I was able to get it to 400', where the pan shot in the video was taken. I also learned that the iPad used with the controller on that flight doesn't have GPS, and I had to interrupt the automatic return to home feature and fly it back myself, which explains the near miss with the roof. The bigger screen sure makes for some easier flying, though, so I might be in the market for a used iPad Mini to go with the Mini drone.:laughing: Spent most of the battery practicing "O"s, using one joystick to go forward and the other one to spin the drone right or left. More like flying an airplane than a helicopter. And a lot like operating a backhoe, with a stick in each hand and having to coordinate the adjustments to get smooth operation. Which means there's a certain amount of muscle memory that must be learned, and I don't expect much smoothness for a while yet. I wonder what kind of issues that'll make when I get back on the backhoe?:confused2:

Not nearly enough rain to get the trench dirt wet enough for good compaction, but it made it easy to get it through a sieve made from 2x4s and half inch hardware cloth. It's set up to ride back and forth on the wheelbarrow, and will do six or seven shovel fulls at a time. After a couple of those, it's so full of rocks it has to be dumped. Probably a third of the dirt that came out of the new terrace was made up of rocks. ullinghair: Once dumped back into the trench, it was like fresh powder snow and my boot would sink in up to the ankle. Got out the 4x6 lumber and cut it in half, stacked it up in the trench until it was high enough to run over with the tractor, and that did a pretty good job of compaction. Took three lifts to get the trench full, but I don't think there will be much subsidence. With the sifting and fooling with the lumber, it was a slow process and I only managed to fill 10' of trench in the hour or so I worked at it. By that time, Mr. Back was ready to knock off for the day, so I'll take another lick at it today and see how much more gets done.

Your assumption is correct, Lou. There's been no rain here since January 26th, normally a time when we get most of the rain for the year. Snow levels in the Sierra are a long way below normal as well, and we're already in mild drought territory. Everyone around here is hoping for another March Miracle. Fortunately, the authorities only let the water level down 125 feet last year; it's been down 200' in years past. David, can you wump up another of your Pineapple Expresses and send it this way, please?

With some high level clouds a mostly sunny 38ºF for today’s low temperature and with increasing sun the temperature is now 49ºF presently. I anticipate a sunny afternoon with high temperature in the mid60ºF’s. A couple of large “V’s” of Canadian Geese were headed north earlier. Today may be a good day to hopefully fire up the tractor which has been parked with the battery connected to a PV battery tender since February.

Kyle- I am sorry to read about your Friend’s dog’s passing.

RNG- I am definitely impressed with your videdos. Thanks for sharing. I stopped working on the “FC” when the image stabilizing gimbal I bought had a grand mal seizure when I set it up for calibration. . I wonder how I can manage to get a Mavic Mini and still keep what’s left of the “jewels.”

David- Thanks for sharing your projects and dog pictures. Kalani looks good for a dog her age thanks to having a great master and mistress.

Randy- I am glad you were uninjured with your fall and were able to get yourself up independently. Good luck with the rehab tomorrow

Billy- When I got the “Drone Bug” most of the current technology was not available or if it was was cost prohibitive. I was happy just to have self leveling on the “FC” with its primitive KK2 flight controller. My backing into landings was/is a bad habit. If I had headless mode now I would use it as well as RTL.

Buppies- Nice dirt work. Thanks for sharing.

Drew- I am happy to read that you are + responding to the Zofran. I too + responded to chemotherapy medications for treating my BOOP. My pulmonologist/immunologist loved the fight with my insurance carrier for authorization.

Yes they would, but then the cost of the mower would have been increased substantially! :thumbsup: I do have heavy lifting straps and chains.... not as much fun / ease of use.... but we gotta do what we gotta do....

I told my friend he had condolences from all over. He is left with his male Golden, who is 14 yo too. He says when the male passes, he will buy another male and female. He got the current ones at the dog pound or rescue place.

Changing of clocks, then full moon, week wrapping up with Friday the 13th, stock market getting hammered... got a flood of emails this morning with my "termination date" March 20. My credit card will be cancelled a week from today.. all expenses must be done and paid before then. Glad I found my laptop box and didn't have to purchase packing materials.. my experience is the expense system is slower than management thinks and there is no way I would have been able to purchase packing materials and get the expense report completed before they cancel the card. It takes up to two weeks for the expenses to show up in the company system so you can submit expense report...

I had a bit of panic when I couldn't locate my company ID (only use it when traveling since I work from home).. I found it finally, along with some other items that I had been missing.. LOL

Reassuring, not that I’m expecting a problem. Also like the Breathe app, 1 minute of deep, controlled breathing. Also using the Indoor Cycle when doing my recumbent bike. Wish the wx app used Wunderground or Davis made an app so I could see own wx station.

Close Hand and Foot game yesterday, but the wives surged to the win in the end.

Somewhere a while back I read that the authorities are supposed to hold 20% of the dam's capacity in reserve for flood control. If you fool around with that graph I linked to, that happens at about the 705' elevation level. Right now the elevation of the water in the reservoir is at 804', so either I've miscalculated or they're well over that 80% level. The measurements available in that tool only go back to the early '80s, but if you go back that far, there's no obvious rhyme or reason behind the reservoir level except how much rain fell in a given year. The goal has always been to stuff the thing as full of water as possible, and that's what led to the failure of the spillway a couple years ago. We're in borderline drought now, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that if rain had been normal this year, the reservoir would be much higher than it is right now. So near as I can tell, the dam wasn't being managed properly in the past, and it still isn't, at least from a flood control perspective. To understand that, all you have to do is follow the money...
