A clear, sunny and windy 7ºF for today’s low temperature; windchill = ~ -15ºF, and the present sunny/breezy 13ºF/ WC = -10ºF may be close to today’s high temperature. No surprises with this AM’s eye examination = no changes in prescription, no changes in my retina wrinkle, no changes with my cataracts, and no evidence of diabetic retinopathy. Spent the rest of the day so far making lunch, moving firewood and kindling, and clearing the ice off the vehicles. Between the last snow storm and lake effect snow we got an additional 3” of new snow. It now appears that I will be seeing some accumulating snow Saturday into Sunday. right now it looks like I’ll be seeing 6” - 8” with little change over to mixed precipitation/rain. The NWS issued a Winter Storm Watch Saturday-Sunday. We are hooking up with friends for dinner tonight; not the best restaurant but the company is great and beers are cold.

Kyle- I am happy that there is some resolution with the fencing.

Eric- Thanks for the laugh, but maybe poor David suffers from Ammophobia or a rare variant of Eremikophobia. The flip flops may be a symptom of reaction formation.

Rich- I am happy to read you all returned home safe and sound and made a decent showing in the races.

Randy- I hope that you do not catch Ellen’s respiratory infection and more importantly Ellen recovers quickly.

Drew- Safe travels.

RonJH- Sassy is a good looking pooch and thanks for sharing your nature pictures.

RNG- I am sorry to read about your ongoing and now new challenges with permitting your solar panel installation. I had challenges with the permitting but they were minor irritations compared to your challenges. “I have a feeling we're all starting to have trouble keeping up with this thread, as it's somewhat gotten away from the original idea of one quick post in the morning with a weather report and a tidbit or two about what's going on.”- I will agree I almost always finish a post feeling that I missed something/someone.

Ted- I hope you have some ice creepers. Good luck with the CEU’s.

BEF- I am sorry to read about your FIL. My late aunt-in-law lapsed into deep sleeps like that and it only got worse. The docs were always messing with her meds which did not help. I got the sense of a Depressive illness + a Dementing illness. My + thoughts and prayers for your Wife and FIL and you.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Friday and + plans for the weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

woe is me, though doing fine in Fayetteville NC, left laptop charger under desk at home and this laptop battery goes down
like a 454 gas gauge. already ordered a new one to arrive at my friends home in Delray Beach. But until then, hi and goodbye, I'm about to be sucking wind here. Going to be a lot of catching up in three days. So if you asked me something, I'm not ignoring you.
Well actually I am...
my day started in my home town having a tree branch smash off a 14 foot plastic cover to my awning. CRASH Until I stopped at bank and looked up...ah, that's what the innards look like. Ok, got that out of my system. Storm last night had dropped it lower.

ALL: I'll probably start doing multy posts answering questions as I can later, but for now i'll answer a few questions you've all asked.

the picture of downtown Seattle was from Alki just west of the city and my parents bought a home up on the hill about a mile away in 1963 that they still live in.

we were going to flip this old rambler maybe a year or two after we bought it in 1987, but as it happens my bride came with a 10 & 12 year old and we had a little girl in 88 and twins in 1990.

so now that the kids are adults and they've all moved away the house is about the right size, but NO BIG SHOP.

All our parents are still alive and my 87 year old parents live 15 minutes north and her's that are both 83 live an hour south. At the moment their health isn't great for the guys so if we move it would still probably have to be in Western Washington. if that changes and Washington gets their state tax approved then i might be able to talk my bride into Oregon Coast (not on beach cause too much maintenance and spendy, but close enough would be good).

my health is decent for 64 in a couple weeks, but I could afford to lose a few pounds. i'm doing my best to not opt for pills or operations where maybe better eating and exercise can be the fix and knock on wood I don't want a bunch of pill bottles on my dresser when I get older.

I may pop in with healthy tips or ideas if any of you ask otherwise i'll just follow along and try to sort of keep up with the good posts.

speaking of a manual transmission car I've heard the thieves don't try to steal them CAUSE THEY CAN'T DRIVE THEM so I may opt for an older one as my daily driver. also I kinda like them and shifting without using the clutch pedal could keep me young trying to hear the engine timing.

hope you all have a great day and here's one of my favorite spots to watch storm waves on the Oregon Coast. NOPE I'M not dipping even my toes in that sewer, but it sure is PURDY.

Drives- Thanks for sharing. Wifey and I really enjoyed the 10 days that we spent in the Seattle area in the early 80's. It is a very scenic area.

Maybe this would work, Drew. Fine a big hotel, like a Marriott or a Sheraton, and go over there, but park out of site of the front desk. Find an entrance where the front desk can't see you either, and go inside. Sidle up to the front desk like you're a guest, and explain your charger problem to them. Chances are they have a huge box of chargers that guests have left behind, and one of 'em'll probably fit your laptop...

Wx gods having a laugh on me. Was all set to cut open 1st bag of quikcrete and dump in wheel barrow when thick clouds rolled in. Thick enough to cause a pause long enough to rethink the consequences. Pause likely extended to rest of day as we’ve gotten a quarter in past 2 hours but not over. Doesn’t sound like much and considered being able to cover, but pour area is down slope from main driveway which would likely wash the concrete away from the flow.

Got the Primo fired up and the rib roast slowly cooking, about another hour. Smelling good. Getting hungry.

10.5 months. When people come to the door. I tell them to watch out for the attack dog. All she wants is attention.

Is it not funny how these little ones think they are big dogs? We used to have a Pomeranian / chihuahua mix that thought he was a Doberman....

Thanks for sharing drives.

Good idea RNG. Drew, living vicariously through you. Safe travels.

Sodamo, I can almost smell it from here.

J, glad the eye exam went well.

Ron, cute dog. Are you teaching her some tricks?

PJ, I'm still wishing I had a thimbleful of musical talent. Not getting to practice much, because autistic daughter throws a fit. Maybe tomorrow in the barn.

Wife just got back from visiting with her dad in hospital. They are stumped as to what is going on. They have him on strong antibiotics in case it’s an infection. He is in deep sleeps. Her mom is taking it hard.

She did get to see niece and nephew she hasn’t seen in years. They drove up to see him.

I’ll take her down Sunday again.

Made Costco run after work. Bough big rack of ribs, will do tomorrow. Saw young guy at Costco gas pump that didn’t know how to put the nozzle back in the pump when done. He eventually got it, but gotta wonder.

Went ahead and stocked up pellets in porch box while cold and ground is partly frozen.
Son not feeling well, went to bed early.
