wouldn't hurt my feeling if mistletoe got zapped either.

Does anyone remove the mistletoe from trees? How do you cut it off? Does it come back? There is a tree right outside my back yard that is about 12' high and has more mistletoe than it's own branches.

Good morning! South wind has returned. Cloudy and 50˚F, heading to the 60s. Several possibilities of things to do today, I'll see which on pops out at me after sunrise.
Cards tonight. Ended up in 4th place for the final quarter of 2019. Only 1st-3rd place get recorded on the 12 year board, just missed it. After the first set of games in 2020 I'm starting out in 27th place (about mid way on the list) and starting a slow climb up I hope.

Buppies hope the bruised butt is the last of the surprise fall injuries.

The mistletoe out here thrives on the oak trees. Only way I've found to get it out is to cut off the limb where it's growing. And if I don't get it all, it comes back with a vengeance. Nasty stuff; it'll kill the tree if it's allowed to flourish.

Warmer here, 49F this morning. Cloudy and chance of rain most of week.

Drew, waiting to hear from you.....Prayers

Bupps, you too.

I always did enjoy playing that "Whack a Mole" game. Similar to the real world of life.

Neighbor came over yesterday to saw up some fallen widow maker branches for his firepit. I could tell by the time/sound/struggling that his chain was dull. New Stihl MS171. But since he's recently transplanted from up north, his tools are still up north. I loaned him my old trusty Deere CS-40 (Efco). The chain on it was about 90% sharp, but it still impressed his wife and kids how fast it went through the wood. I used my round file to sharpen his chain, but the consumer safety chains have such a bump in front of the cutting edge tooth, they hardly cut IMO. I told him he needed to grind them down a small amount.

Time to make the donuts. Figuratively.

35 heading to mid 40's far cry from yesterday when we were at 70.
Sitting at GM dealer after had a brake system failure on my truck last night, no ABS, brake went to the floor not happy this is the second trip. Just told the sales rep I should have went with the Ford. Funny thing the issue started after I had the recall done that was the fix so it didn't happen. Computer gremlin.
Drew and Buppies thinking of you.

Yikes, if I cut off the branches with the mistletoe there won't be much of a tree left. IMG_3466.JPG

Saw an animal moving on side of road on the drive in, thought it must be a squirrel. When I got close I saw it was a hawk. It either had just caught something, or had gotten hit by a car and was injured, couldn’t tell but it never flew off

Falls are really serious if you are on a blood thinner.

Relatively easy commute, only 1 major accident my direction.

Good morning to all! Low of 26, going for 50. Sunny, a bit breezy.

Drew, hope you are feeling a little better this morning. Maybe the doc will give you a better indication of what is going on.

Buppies, prayers sent for a speedy recovery, hopefully nothing but some bruises will be found.

We do not have any mistletoe up here, but morning glory vines. They will spread across the ground, then go up trees / shrubs. In the spring and early summer, they have white flowers that look like a bunch of wadded up tissues thrown across the yard. I have been battling with them for 25 years. I have even used a rototiller on them and they will be back in a month.

Got all of the ceiling done in the son ‘ s garage, looks really good. It will be a while before he gets it painted. He is going to start with insulating the walls, supposedly each evening when he gets home from work.... I am taking bets.....

A neighbor called me last evening. He wanted to know if I can go over today and dig 6 4x4x4 holes for some trees he is going to bring home from work.
Would have been nice to get a little more advanced notice... he knows I would not say “ no I cannot do it”. Hopefully I will be able to tell where his utility line are, otherwise I will not dig that deep....

Everyone have a great start to the week! Prayers for all needing.

31°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 46° today. Near 60° by Wednesday, then plunging back down into the teens and 20s by the weekend.

I had one of those much sought after weekends; parked my car in the garage when I got home Friday evening, and it stayed there until I left for work this morning.

Lots of rain Friday and Saturday, about 4" overnight. It turned to snow briefly Saturday evening, but we only got maybe 1/4". Mostly gone this morning. What's also gone is some of the rip rap rock the landscaper put in the new swale last week from the pond to the road. I questioned whether or not the rock he had there would be big enough to stay in place ... but, what do I know.

Piddled around in the studio a bit, but didn't really get much done. Too distracted by other stuff.

We've had two foster dogs for the last couple of weeks. The one we've had for a couple months (blind and deaf Australian Shepherd) left yesterday for her new fur-ever home. The temp puppy (an all-white Border Collie, neither blind nor deaf, and a very boisterous barker) is leaving next weekend to go to a foster family in the Kansas City area. Wife will drive to Columbia MO to meet them halfway. We both readily admit that five dogs in the house was just too much.

Hope you guys with aches and pains get things sorted out.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

An overcast 25ºF morning low temperature; 29ºF and till overcast; and I am hoping for some clearing skies and an afternoon high temperature in the low 40ºF’s. Two frontal nuisance rain/mixed precipitation events this week bringing down colder air and a possible snow management event Friday-Saturday. that may change over to mixed precipitation/rain.

DABSGT- Your CN soup looks like great eats. Corelle® ware? I love our Corelle ware; almost unbreakable. I am sorry to read about your truck.

“… Watched most of the Houston-KC game...what a huge swing from the wild beginning.”- Billy I agree.

“… daugen; you need to get your health straightened out BEFORE you go galivanting all over the U.S. of A.

buppies; do you get the impression that we are nagging you? You need to get checked out and x-rays.”- Bill Nicely posted and I agree.

Ted- I hope that your hole digging goes as anticipated and without incident. Those morning glory vines are problematic around here as well as the wild grape vines.

I hope that everyone is having a decent or at least a manageable Monday.

My + thoughts, wishes, ad prayers.

You'll need to use a product with ethephon to control the mistletoe. It needs to be applied after it starts to warm up but before tree buds.

The University of California has done a lot of research on mistletoe and control methods. Almost all recommend mechanical control first.

I got a text last night that school was running 2 hrs late today due to weather. My wife didn't get the text, so I forwarded it to her so she had the info.. Then I got a call with the same information... then my wife got call.. daughter got both text and call.. seems they are improving their communications (good thing).

Then this morning, daughter got a text from bus driver about it.

The storm Friday dumped 6" or so, but the rain that followed compressed it down to 2-3".. winds last night, 3" of snow.. some areas locally got twice those amounts. Daughter in Idaho got 16" from Friday storm, a bunch more last night. She got Friday's storm snowfall cleared from driveway by working all day Saturday on it, not sure when she will get out to their property to clear snow from Sunday's storm..

Stay safe, prayers for all
