My poor little tractor doesn’t have HVAC, stereo or power windows, but it fits between my holly trees.

Down to 24 and only going to 41, but two years ago it was only in the teens for highs with lows around -5, so I’ll take it. Supposed to be 62 tomorrow and 70 on the weekend.

Monthly Breakfast with my friends this morning, first time I’ve seen them all since my surgery. I think they’re going to be surprised. I know I am.

Bird I had AAA for over 50 years. One year I called to put my Motor Home in storage for a few months. The AAA agent did not do it. Blamed me for not telling him. He did remember to put car back out of storage. Cost me $500. Had house and cars with them.

I guess everyone knows that you get some kind of discount if you have both house and cars insured with the same company. I have had for several years. But the problem was that they expired or had to be renewed at different times, so it was a little hard to accurately compare all the other offers I got in the mail from other companies. So about a year and a half ago, I stopped by the AAA office and told their new insurance guy that I wanted both to renew at the same time. He said, "OK" but then called me later to say that they couldn't do that. I assured him that they could, but he was adamant that they could not. I told him there was a real simple way for me to do it, that I could just cancel my AAA insurance and buy both home and auto insurance elsewhere. His boss, the office manager, got involved and assured me that he could do it, AND DID.:laughing:

Sometimes these agents just need a little incentive. Many years ago, before I retired, we had State Farm insurance and our agent was a lady who was also in our Sunday school class in Church. When I retired and we took off traveling, I called her office to get the insurance on the truck and on the RV to expire at the same time. Our agent had hired her son to work in the office and he said he didn't know how to do it, so he'd have to ask Judy (his mother). I told him for one of them to call me back right away. After not hearing from them for many days, I bought insurance elsewhere and cancelled the State Farm insurance. And THEN Judy called and told me she could change the insurance the way I wanted, but I told her she was just too late.

Good morning. It got down to 58° overnight but it's already 62° here. Forecast now says 76° this afternoon and 77° tomorrow.

The weather guessers are predicting a front coming thru Friday evening with maybe 1-2" of rain ... we sure need it.

It stayed windy here all day yesterday so ... tree trimming is postponed for now. Maybe I'll cut down a few more cedar trees today.

I made a big pot of red beans and rice, with jalapeño sausage, for dinner last night. It's supposed to get cooler this weekend ... so I've got everything to make a big batch of chicken noodle soup to celebrate our "cold" weather. This edition of Texas Winter will be short, as next Wednesday is forecast to be 79°.

The Corvette is the only vehicle I ever have battery issues with cause it doesn't get driven much. It's a super PIA to get to the battery. You have to remove the lower part of the driver's side quarter panel and then slide it out sideways. It has side battery terminals that aren't real easy to connect to. I keep a "Battery Tender" on it that goes into a maintenance mode ... if I remember to hook it up.

Randy ... your step looks good ... maybe some of the non-slip material for it? I guess, with your MMM deck removed, that is a big step up.

Drew ... hope your symptoms are just a result of hard work.

Interesting. My current insurance company has my 3 polices ending on different dates. All getting maximum discounts. My savings are with home owners insurance. Nothing good about Michigan's no fault car insurance. Most expensive in USA.

Full coverage here on a moderate priced new car is about 700 dollars, which I think is a little on the low side.
Multi policy discount is simply an easily entered code used on most policies, no need for same renewal dates unless the personal lines policies are part of a proprietary bundle policy similar to a commercial business owners policy which has commercial auto attached. Most companies offer a 10-20 percent discount for multiple policies, but sometimes restrict that discount to drivers under the age of 80.

Blueberry muffins came out fine but ruined a double batch of cranberry orange muffins forgetting to add the eggs. I cooked them anyway but first bite was a spit out, cooked but consistency of glue. Into the trash it all went. Going downtown to get much needed haircut this morning and will go to bakery and simply buy some muffins there. Don't feel well enough to do much more.

Toppop, agreed, no fooling around on this. I've always had somewhat low BP, never prior issues so I'm pretty sure this is a spinal issue, of which I've had tons of prior issues.

46°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 55° today. Rain is expected to start this evening. Tomorrow is supposed to be heavy, with several inches of rain predicted.

We've had a rat at work getting into the office area over the last couple of weeks and chewing at the doors and frames of a couple offices. It's been long accepted that there are rats out in the shop ... big, inner city rats ... I've seen a couple that were almost the size of a dachshund. This is the first time they've encroached on the inner sanctums, though. So, I went to Rural King last night to buy a rat trap. All they had were those new plastic jobbies. I'm skeptical, but I'll give it a shot. Doesn't look like anyone around here carries the old-fashioned wood and metal snap traps anymore. The Wife found them on Amazon, so if this toy doesn't work I can order some there.

Kyle, our chickens started slowing down big time in December. We were only getting maybe 2-3 eggs a day. Last week, we got none for four days straight. Then, this week they started again, and just like that we're back up to 4-5 a day. We even got a little tiny one from a new layer two days ago. The ducks have stopped all together months ago, probably in protest because we won't let them back in the pond while the work is in process. The Wife is finally determined to re-home them. They eat probably three times as much as the chickens. I call them the feathered pigs. As entertaining as they are, I'm not going to miss them.

Good morning to all! Low of 25, going up to 47, but cooling down this afternoon with an approaching front. Chance of a few inches of snow. Windy right now.

Yesterday was like a Spring day! I finally took the time to put LED fog lights and a 14 inch LED bar on the truck. I had taken them off the Jeep when I traded it in, but never put them on the truck.... only took 9 months to do.... went out last night and they work great. You would think that with today’s technology, they could make better stock headlights.... but.... then what would happen to the aftermarket stuff.....it is a conspiracy I think....

Randy, nice step on the tractor! Definitely needs some anti-slip something on there.... I have a factory step on mine already, but it is still too high, especially with my bad knee. A guy on another thread added an additional extruded steel step (think cheese grater) below his stock step. He sent me the scrap piece so I could add one to mine.... it is still sitting in the shop. Another project that keeps getting put off....

Jay, glad the new crampons worked out. Looks like you will have an opportunity to try them again by this weekend.

Today, I am going to try and battle the wind outside and get some seat time. The ground has finally dried out in front of the son ‘ s new garage. I need to grade it a bit so he can get some stone dropped. Probably need to lower the grade by about 4 inches, and slope it better away from the garage. I probably should have done it when we were leveling the building pad, but I figured it would be easier to do once the final elevation of the garage pad was established. We will see how that plan works out!

A clear and sunny 9ｺF for today's low temperature; a clear and sunny 11ｺF presently; and I anticipate a clear and sunny afternoon high temperature in the mid20ｺF's. I like these early morning conditions for walking the dog, and my lungs seem to agree. The hot stove and hot coffee is well appreciated. Plan for today = take Wifey to the orthopedist and pick up some needed items during her appointment.

Randy- I like the step and Rick's "lift" suggestion. I hope you have a great time at your monthly breakfast get-together.

Bruce- I am on my second Fitbit. My first lasted ~3months before it crapped out. I got a warranty this time. It really does help me lose weight.

Kyle- With this crazy winter weather so far this year those new crampons really help walking on the ice/snowpack. This weekend逞ｴ warmth and rain will take the existing conditions to a new level of slippery.

Ted- I am happy that you have been able to take advantage of some decent weather. hope your seat time today goes as planned. I think those crampons will be in use till the Spring melt the way the weather has been.

Storm coming.. got email from power company letting us know they are ready and how to report outages should one occur.

Installed the replacement steering angle sensor on Tahoe last night.. had to drop steering column. Cleared codes, test drive successful. Glad to have that done before storm arrives (error caused ABS to disable along with Stabilitrac)..

Transition to new job going slow, new manager is great so far. Gave me some training links to fill my time as I transition. Next Thursday I move over to the new manager in the HR systems. There is still a fight going on in management about whether they are replacing me or not. The folks left on the old team are not wanting to take on my work, but moved a big part to them this week. Already one of them is getting a feel for constant disruptions my old job has. Wait until he is traveling and unable to respond promptly to the emails coming in (almost all urgent) to see how management handles the escalation.

So I did the math and came up with 2.935kg, or 6.47 lbs of meat equivalent. Since 3.48g was the median, there were some who ate more purines than this. They likely ate other purine foods besides meat, but the other food purine reference was spinach, which would have had to have been 13 lbs, a lot of spinach. I hope I did the math right.

One of the companion articles said cherries reduced the risk of gout by 35%.

The purine content in organ meat ranges from 444 to 773 milligrams per 100 grams serving.
Maybe some of the meat was organ meat.
