Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #102,982
you guys are up early.

38F here, going to 72F, postcard picture day with low winds and humidity.

Wish I could stay home. But really busy at work.

Drew, Hope they figure out your truck and don't give you the runaround.... You guys have me wanting to buy an old truck like Randy and Ellen, with all the electrical gremlins.

Have a blessed day all. Prayers for our team.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:45AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 63F. Winds light and variable.

Glad you're OK after your fall, Randy. Sometimes I get dizzy if I try to stand up too fast. Something to do with low blood pressure to the brain. Makes my legs weak at the same time. So like Kyle, I've learned to take it slow and steady, and be ready to park my butt back down if I start to feel wobbly. We don't bounce as well as we used to, eh? Ain't gitten' old fun?:confused2:

Good color on that chair, Bill. Does it come with a seatbelt? Maybe I should pick up a couple for the van? We expect a full report from your first test drive!

If the temperature rise in the sound deadening was significant, Kyle, the stuff in the van would've melted already. Your daughter has a keen eye for color and shape. Thanks for sharing her work with us.

Had tubes in my eardrums when I was a kid, Drew. It was my first encounter with ether, and it took three people to hold me down on the operating table when they put the mask on me. Scared the heck out of me, and it's still a very upsetting memory. Hope your procedure goes better...

Spent most of yesterday gathering spec sheets and other information for the new solar system, and getting docs and emails put together for the building department. Sent it off and haven't heard anything back, and no response from a voicemail, either. Poor gal probably got hammered yesterday, being a Monday after a four day holiday.

Took me a couple tries to find the right breaker, but once I cycled the power on that wonky wall switch, it started working again. And it took the firmware update, too. Just have a motion sensor to replace batteries in today, and that little job should be done.

Replaced the three water filters under the kitchen sink yesterday, first time I can remember doing it in the ten years they've been under there. Found and downloaded the owner's manual, and now I see that two of them should be replaced every six months, and the reverse osmosis filter every three years. Then I went shopping for replacements, and the three of 'em cost a couple hundred bux! Might be time to start shopping for something that uses less expensive filters?

In between I got all the old programming moved to the new DVR, a few shows at a time. One of 'em was A Charlie Brown Christmas, but it's still too early in the season to watch it.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today, but I'm sure I'll figure out something...

Good morning! 34˚F clear skies heading to the 60s. FireWise clearing on schedule for today.

Ron already took down the lights but not enough time yesterday to re-install. Had to get an estimate for the car - a lady crashed me, not bad just hate to get the first scratch. Estimate $1200. Her confessed cause - cell phone - not a SC resident.

Good morning,
Temp is 11 and going up to 23 °F. Wind N 9 mph. Sunny.

The storm that was supposed to happen didn't. All of it went south.
Once the overnight temps dip below freezing my tractor is always plugged in. I can turn the block heater on from the warmth of my kitchen, off too if need be.

It looks like today will be a sacrificial anode changing day. I'm not looking forward to it.

Have a safe day all

Well, we got it down near Dorset, but not too bad.

More came overnight, but not much more. It was a nice soft fluffy ride back to town yesterday, at least for the first few miles early in the morning!

Morning all,

Got more snow the. Expected getting use to the tractor better now, I have a 5ft high by 6ft long pile I have been making. IMG_4607.JPG

Wife is having her first day at her new job she is very excited. Hopefully everyone has a good day and stays safe.

That is a good looking pile of snow Ramman666. It can take a few times to figure the most efficient plan to plow a yard/driveway/path. Looks like a good start on a significant amount of snow!

Now that you have your pile established, push up and over the top. You can make your snowbanks as high as the tractor will climb + the height of the lift arms.

Don, sorry your car got messed up and glad you are ok.
must be the morning for that, I put a scratch in my truck trying to get around a dumb volunteer this morning who despite seeing me trying to turn around in a very tight space, parked right in the no parking zone, and it was super tight getting past. Too tight, thankfully I scraped wood and not concrete. His reply was I've been parking here for two years and tough. Really? His parting words to me were FU as he went in the door. Nice.
I believe my email to the President will get him escorted to the door. Nasty man, wonder why he's volunteering. Maybe he has to, lot of community service folks cycled through.

Ram dealer said coolant down by a pint and a half, not much in my mind...
made another appt to flush all the coolant, he said there was a residue in it and did I put Stopleak in the radiator.
Of course not, five year old truck under powertrain warranty, I know better. He had no explanation for residue on a 26,000 mile truck but thought
a flush might help. He also had no explanation for why transmission lost its brain one day and wouldn't go forward or backward. He said I might have a gremlin.
Great. No codes either. He said water pump runs all the time, and radiator cap looked perfect. Maybe the thermostat, but why would it always work perfectly after shutting off the truck for 30 seconds. Doesn't sound like a plug if it goes back to perfectly normal.

I think it's time to downsize my truck too.

It was my first encounter with ether, and it took three people to hold me down on the operating table when they put the mask on me. Scared the heck out of me, and it's still a very upsetting memory.

Yep, I still remember my first encounter with ether, too. It was just to have my tonsils out, but when they put that mask on there to suffocate me, I decided I'd better fight. Instead of using more people to hold me down, they just went and told my Dad, and he just stuck his head in the door and told me to lay down and do what they tell you. Now you'd have to know my Dad to understand that I immediately decided I'd rather be suffocated than beat to death, so I quit fighting.

It was several years later when I went into the hospital for surgery on my left foot and ankle to correct polio damage. So I was really dreading being put to sleep, but a few days before the surgery, I told the doctor about dreading the ether and he told me they could use ether but I preferred, they could put me to sleep with an injection. Naturally, that was a relief and I opted for the shot.

Good morning to all! Low wasn’t too bad, only 25. The wind (50-60 mph gusts) finally subsided yesterday. Today going up to the high 40’s. Next chance of rain/snow is Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Depending on when it get here will determine which it will be. I hope it will be rain, the previous snow is now basically just hard ice.

Randy, sorry to hear about your fall...glad you’re ok. I remember my BIL had a ‘73 Chevy 2wd. Both of us loved that truck. He ended up selling it for 3 times what he payed for it a few years later...I wanted to buy it, but couldn’t. I still look for trucks like that to restore, but then reality sets in... I don’t have enough time or money to take on a project like that now... it’s ok to dream though!

Wng, hope you’re able to find that perfect tree and the tradition goes on...

Don, OH NO! A SCRATCH! Wow...can’t believe that estimate....at least it wasn’t your neighbor who did it!

Jay, nice snow pics... I do like the white on blue:D. Hope you are staying warm. Sure looks like Brogen is enjoying the weather!

I got a surprise yesterday, the new computer was not expected to arrive until Friday, got a text yesterday morning that it was ‘ready for pickup’. Spent the afternoon getting it set up. Boy it is a pleasure to use compared to the old! Wifey is already saying “If you use up too much of the bandwidth, I’m getting a new one too”.... “My” old computer was her ‘hand-me-down’ which worked for me for the last 4 years...that’s ok...

Haven’t done any work on the son’s garage since last Wednesday just before the storm dumped the snow on us. We did get it all closed in except for the garage door, we screwed a big tarp up across the opening. Hopefully it will rain and get the rest of the snow off the roof and we can get the metal down. The synthetic underlayment keeps it dry and can stay exposed for 90days, but sooner is for sure better. We will probably get started on running the electric stuff on the inside.

Welcome :welcome: to Ramman! Great thread here.

RNG, do you have an expected completion target date on the van or are you just planning ‘as you go’ approach....

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent

Drew, sorry to read about your troubles.... unknown / undiagnosed vehicle problems are frustrating to say the least. Then to have to deal with an arrogant rude person like that just tops the cake! Time for you to get some tractor time, even if it’s just to drive it down the lane and back...

When I had the last two knee surgeries, they were both under general anesthesia. Both times when I woke up, I said “that was the best sleep I’ve had in years!”. I still remember having to ‘go under’ as a kid.... fighting it all the way....
The next knee replacement surgery is supposed to be done with a nerve block and I’ll be awake.... I’m not sure if I will like that approach. To me it’s a more complicated surgery...why do they want me awake? I really don’t want to hear that bone saw going.... maybe high dose nitrous oxide?

It’s giving me chills... off to another subject....

32F this morning, snow melted yesterday (only a light dusting), stove was out this morning when I got up at 6:40, but was running fine when I checked at 5am. I took a look down in the pilot area with flashlight, it appears the thermocouple or thermopile (whichever one keeps the pilot going) is not getting a pilot flame. I suspect a plugged orifice. I am sure a pilot flame was hitting both posts previously. Perhaps this afternoon I will be able to poke a tiny wire in and see what is going on.

Daughter is doing better, but the cough is hanging on for all of us.. I think the steroids they prescribed helped her turn the corner.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need.

Now that you have your pile established, push up and over the top. You can make your snowbanks as high as the tractor will climb + the height of the lift arms.

That’s what I just figured out this morning when I was out, I’m going to play a little more tonight and make everything neat.

   / Good morning!!!! #102,995
hawkeye, if you can get to your local napa store they should have acetylene torch tip cleaners. the smallest cleaner should clean out your orifice.

   / Good morning!!!! #102,996
ramman; if you do it that way, then try to make the pile twice as wide as the tractor and pack it all down. Twice as wide will ensure that you don't slip sideways off the ramp and roll it.

67°F and .06 inches rain.

Trip to PO this morning, then back out in Tractotshed.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Got released from PT. Thought they would keep me longer.

Eating a burrito bowl at chipotle’s, then to eye appointment.

Good morning. It was 36° this morning. Sunny and already up to 62°. High forecast to get to 73° this afternoon. The LT forecast indicates a string of nice days.

It’s been too windy lately, to light off any more burn piles and we need a good rain to wet the ashes from last pile burned.

Our gophers have been busy but ... I’m catching up with them. I need to drag the chain harrow over a few old mounds today.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.

RNG, do you have an expected completion target date on the van or are you just planning ‘as you go’ approach....

The original estimate from the ex-mechanic was 12 weeks. I was also told I could do the roof swap in two weeks; it took me six.

At this point, I'm still dealing with problems caused by the use of substandard parts and poor workmanship while the van was at the shop. And I'm spending a LOT of time repairing fire damage on the property and making improvements to the house for better fire safety. I begrudge every moment of that time, as it's not what I signed up for in retirement, but then that's life. I don't have any inside space where I can work on the van now, so there will be weather delays, too. I have a punch list, and at this point there are more items marked complete than there are left to do. But each one has a way of blossoming into a bigger job than I thought it would be, either because I have to learn more, or I run across another dragon egg. Goal wise, there's a campout down on the Sacramento River I attend every year, up to now on a motorcycle. It's one of the VW bus/motorcycle events, and the past few years I've been passing when the weather doesn't cooperate. I'm hoping to drive the van down there this year, and that by then I'll at least have a bed in it. But so far, plans have been made only to be significantly altered, but I'm so used to rolling with the punches I don't get too excited if goals are met or not.
