On one of my drives to the creek in the ranger I chased out 4 deer.

I could never decide which grapple to get, EA long bottom, 60” or 55” root rake. I don’t see a lot of need for one, but would be handy at times. I bought tractor with 3 rd function.

Saw a Thomas English muffin semi and thought of Thomas. They have a factory in town.

Waiting for wife at Costco.

5-25mph winds all night, expected to increase today. 34F when I got up. Daughter told me about the weather pattern off the west coast, thanks Jay for pic

Grand daughter doesn't have school today so she wants to play games and do stuff.

My phone battery is not lasting very long, often does not make it over night.. I think there is a app running (that doesn't show) that is taking power. I have some other issues, time for a factory reset.. but I really don't like going through the setup. It seems that I never get everything backed up either.

Stay safe, enjoy the holidays, prayers for those in need.

Checking In:

An overcast 27ºF for today’s low; 32ºF presently and the sunshine is increasing through the cloud deck; and I anticipate increasing cloudiness at some point with high PM temperatures in the mid to high 40ºF’s. The calm before the storm. I am hoping for that backend 1”, but NWS/B-N does not predict any accumulation. A windy day tomorrow to smoke that lamb. I spent this morning prepping the garden and property for the snow that will be in my future at some point this coming Winter.

BEF- I like the fire pit; nice job setting up the blocks. I have not eaten a smores since the “Smores Incident” at the secure Alzheimers unit that I managed. I ended up with 26 agitated and combative to care residents covered with smores. Smores were everywhere in the unit; I was finding smore-stuff months later.

David- Nice load job. Another project successfully accomplished. Thanks for sharing it.

Eric- That’s a solid looking workbench; good job:cool:

Drew- I wish you a safe and uneventful trip.

Billy- All vultures see when they are eyeballing us is determining how much meat is on the hoof.

RonJH- I am sorry to read about those frames causing an allergic reaction. Good luck getting a new glasses frame Very nice Christmas decorations. Thanks for sharing.

Rick- Good luck with smoking and frying your turkeys in tomorrow’s wind. They read to be great eats. Brining is the only way to go with turkeys. I do a lot of brining.

RNG- The TV ProMets were not exaggerating with the bombogenesis hype this time with this storm. This system will morph around and there’s a good chance Sunday-Monday that I will see enough snow to manage with the tractor.

Randy I am sorry to read about Ellen’s and your GI challenges today. Hopefully they will pass by tomorrow.

BEF- Have a safe trip.

Paul- Between the Thanksgiving Holiday and predicted storm I am sure shopping in supermarkets will not be for the feint of heart. Luckily the Full Moon was November 12th.

Thomas- I am glad that you had a productive walk.

David- Good luck with the shopping, the holiday prep, and my + thoughts and prayers for Sophie.

I hope everyone on the road and/or in the air and their friends and family have safe travels for Thanksgiving, a great Thanksgiving celebration, and the return trips home.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Good evening all. 58F for the start, cloudy, calm wind, wind increased through most of day, stayed mostly cloudy through the day, high temp 72F. Cleaning lady prep, worked on Christmas light got light mounts on both gables, got the C7 light strung, got the icicle lights on one gable, need to put icicle lights on other gable ad plug all the light string into photo-eye switches. Did get bike ride in, not enough motivation to work on lights.
Roy, Sunday rode with a friend who was excite about "red dot" sight system on some pistols. Are you familiar with what he id talking about?
Drew pic of light when up.
Buckeye, good to hear you can cut back on meds.
Ron sorry to hear about your glasses.
Randy, do listen to the nurse.
Eric hope you get the workbench finished. I don't miss the honey wagon at all.
RNG busy day yesterday!
Buckeye cool pics.
Hawkeye pray that diughter get better soon.
David impressive pics.
prayers for all.

Since no one has answered your question about the red dot sight I'll add my 2c . About 6 years ago I lost the vision in my right eye due to a retinal artery occlusion and the only thing I can do well left handed is wet my pants, so a friend who was a Navy seal told me to try the red dot and I can shoot a pistol right handed and left eyed pretty well. The sight I settled on is a Tru Glo with the choice of red or green dot,I prefer the green for most conditions. My sons and grand sons have converted several of their guns to them for near range shooting. Most that I know of have no magnification but that may well have changed. In short I really like mine and would readily recommend them.

I have Crimson trace laser sight on a couple of handguns. It puts a red dot on the target, not always easy to see. The idea is to be able to be on target when light conditions are low, and for that it works well. I have not looked at the green ones yet.

Hope you all are having a good day. Ellen is much better, eating and working. I don’t see much change. I have felt worse but can’t keep anything down including liquids. At least not for long. Have a good evening.

50 and cloudy most of the day rain passed over only lasted a few min
Out to pick up last of what's needed for tomorrow's Thanksgiving Dinner the did some prep work for the stuffing
Will be up early tomorrow to head to the lake to get the bird in the oven.
Alarm company called me this afternoon asked if all was ok or should they send the fire department quick guess was that wife started a fire in the fireplace when I called her and asked she told me it was the apple pie for tomorrow smoked pie.
Randy hope all passes before turkey tomorrow.
Hawkeye I have the crimson laser on my Kimber old habit on shooting I never had much use for then, but can see benefit for a quick low light situation.
BEF nice fire pit
David nice job getting that generator on the truck.
Safe travels to all who are hitting the road for the holiday. Did you know that there are more drunk drivers on the road the night before Thanksgiving than any other holiday, drive with caution.

We threw ours out. Would not have known except I took my wife to lunch Monday and they had a sign up "No salads" due to Salinas lettuce problem.

We had some too and threw it out. Romaine from Salinas, packaged in a ziplock type bag. Wife says she had eaten some of it about a week ago...

Got to work on the boy's DT80 yamaha mini bike. I've torn down everything from the frame to give it a new paint job. Will take it to work and glass bead blast it, then cover it with some rustoleum primer. My buddy says Appliance black works fine for a "less than museum quality" restoration.

Also worked on the smaller CS40 Deere chainsaw. Needed to blow out the packed in wood dust from the oiling slot on the bar.

I washed the dishes to help the wife. She often says I look my best when helping her with housework....

Have a Happy Thanksgiving all!

Kids are watching the old Charlie Brown Thanksgiving cartoon. The one where he serves popcorn, toast, pretzels, and jelly beans for Thanksgiving Lunch.

Son wants to watch the Thanksgiving parades tomorrow.

Smoked Apple Pie, in Mexico it would be called pie de manzana al carbon! Hope all is well and if you need me to bring my ozone odor relief service up there, it would be quite the travel fee...

Has anyone shot enough to just be able to shoot "from the hip" accurately like the real fast gunslingers do? I used to be half decent, but would have to get back in practice to get even close to accurate again.

Good evening all. 38F for the start, partly cloudy, light wind. Cloud moved in early afternoon, Wind moderate, and high temp of 50F. Rain started about 6PM, on and off light rain. Men's meeting to start day, then off to Sherman, hit bike shop, got brake cable replaced, new shorts and shoes, lunch at RED Lobster, hit shoe store and book store. Made it home just in time for nap, no ride today.
Kyle thanks for link to Triumvirat, been a while since I heard them.
Eric nice pics and bench.
Drew know what you mean about deer, have not seen any road kill here in Texas but know they are out there. Pic is from old house, could not believe how close they came!
Bill, have fun plowing snow tomorrow.
Ron thanks for light display pic, enjoy family this Thanksgiving.
Rich, is outlasting your boss a good thing?
RNG hope weather cooperates good to hear end of fire season.
Randy bad time to be sick, get well soon!
Bird enjoy familt for Thanksgiving.
Buckeye, safe travel tomorrow.
Rick, interesting route to Branson, I go US 69, I40 to I49,US 412 to US65. Don't get close to Texarkana. Turkey prep sounds yummy.
Thanks for reply Jim, friend said he did not have glasses that would help him see sights and target at same time.
prayers fo all and Happy Thanksgiving.

38 right now...and, according to the weather report, that's where it's going to stay all day. The report calls for a bit of mixed precipitation this morning.
Since my stepdaughter has to work today, we had our Thanksgiving dinner last evening. Ham was the main course along with mashed and scalloped potatoes, salad...and a few drinks of Jameson whiskey. Nice time! As usual, no body ate too too much and we'll be having ham sandwiches for a week.

Happy Thanksgiving, All!

Hope everyone celebrating thanksgiving has a good time, what better day can there be to skip the lettuce.

Traditionally no turkey in this country until Christmas, but that's ok, we have plenty of dry bread left and an abundance of water...

... Or maybe not, this morning's toast is toast - the bread has gone mouldy

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving to all.
45 degrees in Markham VA, and my what a windy noisy night it's been, gusts up to 40mph today

Yesterday's drive was ok, easy in the beginning, then hit rain, and lots of traffic, as expected.
4 serious car accidents on way up, one bad rearender I took a pic of, and two nasty ones where cars were on their roofs.
The bad ones thankfully on the South side so just a lot of looky lou slowing down. I went up 234 instead of 17 off rt 95 and it was a nice drive.
New roundabouts installed on 15, apparently they have reduced traffic accidents immediately. Seems many folks don't know right of way rules in a circle, gets to
be a game of chicken sometime. But sure better than getting t-boned at an intersection.

I put the cruise at 6 over and just let the traffic mostly pass me. Got 31mpg on the way up, cruise control seems to add at least 1-2mpg.

I was so exhausted last night was asleep by 8pm. Of course that means up early, feel like a truck ran over me, sore all over.
Now you've got me thinking of all the salad I ate before I left...
first cup of coffee, can't find SIL's sugar bowl, groan, waiting for her to come down and get it for me.
She made a delicious dinner last night of tuna steaks, which
were both too big and not cooked enough for me, but everyone likes minimally cooked tuna so I simply picked around the edges. Today will be a traditional dinner at 2pm, though my eyes are on the two pies on the counter. One made at Red Truck bakery, well known bakery locally and listed in the Good Eats book too. Give me a cup of coffee and a big piece of pie and I'm a happy camper.

Toppop, hope you feel better soon and lose the crud.
David, hope Sophie's medical procedure went well

remember to go easy on the salt today, don't need anyone in the ER tomorrow...

Good morning everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating!
Currently 38 here with heavy rain. Hopefully it will calm down some as we have family coming around noon.
Safe travels for all and I hope those sick heal quickly.

Happy turkey day all,
temp is 22 and going to a high of 28 °F. Wind N 15 gusting to 30 mph. 30% chance of flurries.
We've got snow on the ground, I just don't know how much. Probably not enough to bother plowing.

We lost hydro while it was snowing. I figure the wires got landed on by a snowflake.

I have a very sick Maine Coon cross. She has denied herself all food, is very weak, to the point where IF she moves at all she staggers. We've blocked off the basement door so she cannot get down there. I will call the vet this morning and make an appointment to put her down. I think, I am not sure but I think she is full of cancer. Both her kidneys are enlarged about twice their normal size, she won't eat and drinks for a long time at the fountain. Both of the Himalayans had cancer and had to be put down. It is heartbreaking but a fact of life that we humans will probably outlive our pets.

I usually celebrate either the Canadian or the American thanksgiving. I hit the Canadian one this year.

Have a safe day all

Brewed a full pot of coffee this morning. 36° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with cloudy skies all day. Son arrived at my place close to 7am. Spent the day reminiscing about all the good times we have had at our place. Had the required lasagna for dinner. Only this year it was Stouffers. Lots of wind, rain, and lighting thou out the day. Lots of branches but no real damage. I can put the Trac-Vac away and get snowblower on the mower. Wind sent all the leaves into woods next door. Thanksgiving will be at a restaurant in town where youngest son lives. Oldest son will be back on the road with his truck this evening.
Had a different bird at feeder yesterday.

Mostly, I have looked into a laser sight for my pistol. Haven't purchased one yet. At local gun shop I was able to check out all the different models. My eyes say a green dot is the best all around especially if it is going to be use in daylight. Now that I have time I need to get over to the shop and get one for my 9mm.

Drew, glad you made the trip safely. Took a long time. But I weened myself off anything in my coffee.

David, hope Sophie's procedure went well.

Kyle, Detroit has a very good Thanksgiving Parade. No sure you cans see it in TX.

Mostly, nice picture.

Buckeye, glad you are off the meds and feeling better. Enjoy your OH trip.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

Good Morning All.
