Spotted the Snap-On truck in the parking lot when I swung by the Subaru dealer yesterday, just as he was pulling out. I waved at him to stop, and asked through the window if he had a 10 mm stubby combination wrench in there somewhere. He smiled, put the truck in park, and invited me in. He had exactly what I needed, and even broke up a set to get just the right size. It'll save me boogering up the flats on the jamb nuts that secure the cable adjustors on the top of the Bing carbs used by the BMW motorcycles I ride, and probably keep me from burning my fingers on the hot heads and cylinders as well. Coulda had more than a few sixpacks for what that little darlin' cost, but what kinda price can you put on safety equipment?
Half way through the transaction, a dealer big wig came to the door of the truck and told the Snap-On man to get rolling because he'd been causing too much of a disturbance. Seemed a bit short sighted in my view, since he'll have fewer come backs if his mechanics are using good tools to work on customer cars. And if the mechanics are spending their paychecks on tools, they won't have anything left for beer, and have a better chance of showing up on time in the morning.
