76 outside this AM. Heading to upper 70's. Storms came through and missed us last night. Pick up sticks day is on order. That and tent caterpillars which seem to be in abundance this summer.
Prayers for all in need. Speedy recovery to those ailing. Stay positive. Be safe.

A kink in the jet stream is drawing warm air up from the south. Should be around 29C/84F today, then rising for the rest of the week as hot air from Africa is pulled in. Ideal for making hay, except thunderstorms are coming too :confused3:

Truly America at it's greatest. :drink:

 - Although I can't help adding a few words as a "neutral observer"

Putting the first men on the moon was incredible. Something that was hard to believe was actually coming true at the time and still fascinating to watch and listen to again this last week. Although literally "out of this world", I now look back on it more as an example of what the president of a wealthy nation can achieve by throwing an enormous amount of money at something.

Yes, the people who worked on Apollo were clever and the astronauts very brave, but probably no more than their counterparts in Russia who prior to that had easily led the space race and to this day are being relied upon for anyone wanting to hitch a ride to the ISS and safely back again.

Oops, I better duck out now while you all start throwing moon rocks at me :)

68 and rain most of the day we need it. Nice cool 80s rest of the week. Big storms yesterday took a good second shower after getting caught in the storm directing traffic while Equiptment being loaded

Prayers for all in need Buckeyefarmer and the rest who are in need

That kink Eric is giving us cool weather

good morning all.
still a warm 78 going up to 89 today, with rain coming in late morning.

taking veggies to food pantry for distribution morning, then food shopping and home.
haircut yesterday was fine, though he cut it too short, despite my asking him not to.
Takes a while to sort this out...next time probably better. Folks here have short hair for sure...
Not like I have that much hair to get long anyway...
Same price as other guy, 15 bucks plus a tip. I thought his pricing sign was interesting, for just a quickee buzz around,
5 bucks. I had to look at sign a second time, yup, 5 bucks. Still a lot of money for someone earning a few hundred bucks a week, and considering
how poor this area is, makes sense.

had fun continue to work on planning rv trip. Seems there's a nice rv place in LaGrange TX. Now I wonder who might be around there?
Wonder Class C RV - Leisure Travel Vans
I've tried a Class A gasser, a pull behind travel trailer, and now a mini rv. Hopefully third time will be the charm. This little rv puts the least physical demands on me, plus it has adaptive cruise and other modern features. No slide out, nothing to break, Ford diesel motor. 17mpg
Hope to go see it next week. Just not sure it has enough room in it, but for parking, less is sure more, particularly since I won't be towing a car and this rig
has to fit in restaurant lots, etc. Canadian built rv, brand is well respected. No more Winnebagos for me...

No signs that bear visit last night...hmmm.
E muffin feed little critters slow roll to work.

Enjoy the day all.

69 and some rain just now coming in. Last night's storm missed us again. Temps should be going down today to 61...about 40 degrees less than Sunday. :)

Eric, we may have been a wealthy nation, but are now $22 trillion in debt. :) But it took a lot more than money to achieve a trip to another world and back.

BEF, hope to hear a better report today.

Got some lopping and string trimming done yesterday, and a little target practice. Pulled one poke out that was growing up through the middle of a crape myrtle...14 feet tall...hidden inside the foliage. Every step in the yard yesterday was a crunchy dry grass sound.

/ Good morning!!!! #96,830
Wngsprd grass here was same way until Sunday and yesterday’s 1.5 in of rain

/ Good morning!!!! #96,831
Poured second cup of coffee. 53ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 78ー with chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Got trimming and some weed pulling done yesterday. Continue on that today. May be OK to put some weed killer down if I get out there before wind picks up.

Enjoyed the moon trips.

Buckeye, prayers sent.

Drew, I like the Leisure Vans. Just not sure that I could put up with the Murphy Bed everyday. Maybe you could find one too rent for a short trip. My idea would be to find a Class B with a dry shower and a good bed. La Grange has a very nice state park. No Camping. The park overlooks the Colorado river and Colorado Landing RV Park. I like the parks in Bastrop better. Ask Kyle if you can stay in his driveway? :D

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

Only a rich nation might throw money at an obsolete, decadent monarchy that has evolved into nothing more than second rate soap opera family!

I thought the weatherman was going to be wrong about yesterday, it was 64 until mid morning.. seemed to be headed for a 75F day, but then the overcast moved out and we went to 95. I stayed inside, no reason to go out in the heat. Grand daughter played outside in the evening when it had cooled down to 89F. House never really cooled off last night, expected to be in mid 90s again today, with some thundershowers cooling things off tonight.

Prayers for those needing them, stay safe.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 100F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

What a unique perspective, Eric. It took Sputnik and The Bomb to wake America to the new global threat, and it took the moon shot to free up the resources needed to develop a credible defense. The moon shot wasn't about the moon; it was about keeping a free world free. You're welcome...

Ron makes a good point about a try-before-you-buy rental, Drew. Just make sure it has an air conditioner you can run all night; you're gonna need it "camping" next summer!

Hope you folks back east get some rain soon, but not too much!

Spent yesterday morning hanging off the sides of a ladder, angle grinder/wire brush in hand. Made short work of the blistering paint, and a lot of trips up and down the ladder. More trips up/down for a coat of primer, and if I can find it, even more today with a bucket of brown paint. I'm not hopeful that paint has survived years of sleep on a top shelf in the garage, but at least it'll have the recipe so HD can make more. Then there'll only be three more to go.

Heard from the solar power lady yesterday, and got a very impressive e-document with everything and the kitchen sink in it but not the one thing I actually need: the signed, stamped, engineered copy of the plans for the solar panel mount.:muttering:

Touched base with another neighbor that has a backhoe mounted auger, but learned he needs an extension in order to drill a hole 7' deep as required for the current panel mount plan. Might be able to rent one, but we'll get together later this week so I'll know just what to look for, or build...

Cook top took a dump this morning 13 years old replace brain or new depends on repair price if it’s like TV repair I am screwed

Good Morning. It's 76°F this morning and high is forecast to get to 92°F this afternoon. We had some rain over night but doesn't look a lot, haven't checked rain gauges yet. No more rain in our forecast until Saturday.

I'll take advantage of the "slightly" cooler day to do some more tree trimming to make it easier to cut more of the 9 acre "yard" with the 55 hp cab tractor. Maybe some weed spraying along fence lines as well.

Drew ....I agree with Ron, can you rent a similar RV to see how it works for you. One thing about a bad haircut is they they heal themselves in a couple of weeks.

BEF ..... hoping to hear of great improvement for you.

Eric ..... the US space program generated a lot of pride in America. We demonstrated, for the world, what could be done in 8 years if we got behind it. And .... competing with the Russians wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Lots of technology and many products came from the space program. It remarkable the that the lunar landing was controlled by a 32 bit processor.

Thall ...... that's a pretty rude comment .... IMHO.

Thomas ...... BOO BOO is plotting his return. Stay vigilant!

Hoping for an excellent Tuesday for everyone.

Prayers to all.

I had the same plan when I took a can in earlier this summer, but the label had faded so much that we couldn't read the last number. A computer match of the color worked and gave us the last number.

Good morning! 77˚F heading to the 90s, partly cloudy as this cold front does not change the temperature just shifts the wind about. At least in these hot climates we have half a day to be active outside.

A little jousting from England this morning. Treading in dangerous waters.

The night we landed on the moon was a historical night for Great Britain also:

"The actual night of the Moon landing on 20/21 July was also historic for British TV, as it was the first all-night broadcast on British television, with both BBC1 and ITV remaining on air for 11 hours from 11.30 p.m. on 20 July to 10.30 a.m. the following morning."

:D

A great event deserves a great audience!

Buckeye stay with us, it will be a slow healing process once you get the GBS in check.

Gray2 is outside very interested in the 7 new (very fast) turklings. They are the size of a softball.

Yep, that's what we've got 68 degrees going for 89 instead of the 90s. But I just got back from Walmart and it's HOT out in the sun.
