Good Morning. It's 75°F and 91% humidity here this morning and clear. Forecast says we'll see 94°F this afternoon.

More yard mowing to get done today, getting ready for mid-week Independence Day holiday next week. ZT this morning around and under trees, tractor and RFM when it gets hot.

Ron .... I bought an extra set of belts, when I bought our John Deere Z820A back in 2007 because Ranch is 35 miles from the JD Dealer and I assumed belts would break on a weekend. The JD had one deck belt and another belt from engine to deck. The deck belt went bad when the ZT was a bit over 10 years old, on a Saturday afternoon. I was so pleased that I already a spare that I almost bent my halo, patting myself on the back. So, I installed the now 10 year old belt and got back to mowing. About 5 hours of mowing later, the newly replaced belt snapped too. It was starting to dry rot from just sitting in storage for 10 years. I don't keep spare belts any more.

Drew. That storm system that hit the dock also produced another ef-1 tornado near Paducah and a micro burst. It was a rough storm day.

Farmer, what kind of wind will your main buildings take? When do the chickens fly away, perish the thought... 80mph? 100mph?

took the last bag of my red, white and blue potatoes up to the local Massey dealer, owner was holding down the Saturday morning parts desk duty.
Sure enough I was followed in by a guy with a broken pto part.

place looked kind of deserted, not a lot of new tractors out there, but what they had caught my eye, for under 20 grand their baby unit with a backhoe was a looker.
I need to rent a small mini ex, not buy a new tractor though.

90° in the shade at 11. Mowed with ZT places my son doesnt mow, along road and hills and along creek. Wore a mask. Most along creek was wet and shady. Time for the oil change, but too hot.
Shower felt good.

Now go look for propane for the camper and get some diesel.

Not sure Drew. Don’t know what they were rated for new. I’ve seen them withstand 70-80 mph straight line gust. April 2011 had a storm come through. Took a locked sliding door off a building. 12 ft tall and wide. Locks were in the steel plates screwed into the wood. Pulled the track and track boards off the building. Stood door up in the trees 100ft away across the fence. Didn’t hurt the fence. I wasn’t home when I got the tornado warning from the nws. That storm went on to produce an ef-1 that would move 3-50,000 grain bins off their foundation and partially collapsed them. About 20 miles away. I believe my damage was from a funnel.

The pictures I’ve seen of tornadoes hitting chicken barns are the building is missing and the feed bins and birds are still sitting on the pad. Most die in the storm.
