I think most of us on the Eastern side are feeling some nice cooler breezes today, drier air.
I spent my morning walking farmer's soybean and corn fields this morning with Ag Extension group, wind was whipping right along at 10-15mph,
all the corn was rustling away, just a gorgeous blue sky and standing in the middle of a corn field. Simply marvelous.
Soybeans involved a test plot, 75+ varieties of soybeans, planted two rows at a time. They keep checking to see what works best, what is
resistant to this year's pest. Reminds me of flu vaccine work. Need to keep current for sure.
Should have taken pics, all that dark green corn was pretty. Wasn't yet at tassle but ag agent cut apart several stalks for us and we could see
the innards of the plant, the corn cob could be found with magnification.
Don, what a nice job, used the best stuff, and it should literally last forever since the sun doesn't hit it.
The very toughest job for traditional varnish apparently was on
the spar of the old wooden ships, so the very best varnish was called spar varnish.
That still seems to be in use today. Although now it's part plastic and infinitely more durable.
now need to check on fruit in orchard. Since I got those two plums before, might be more
I need to pay attention to. I also need to check for bugs and fire blight. Mean world out there for fruit trees.
