Good morning!!!!

For 24 winters I have been clearing out the mail 'group' box at the end of my road. I informed the Post Office this spring that I would no longer be doing that. Now it will be up to the other 16 people that collect their mail there to clear it. I did my part.....Next.
????.

Not as many mailboxes you were doing but also said no more, and some mailbox owners weren't to happy guess they thought it was giving.

Good Morning! It's 63°F here and clear. Forecast says we'll see 84° this afternoon and thunderstorms expected this evening.

I tried mowing, with the ZT around house yesterday but ..... still almost too wet so gave that idea up after 30 minutes as I was leaving tracks.

RNG, my neighbor has a land clearing business and has a John Deere tracked skid steer and forestry mulcher head for it. It will go almost anywhere and is very stable but, if working on grass, the tracks can really tear things up. His SS is quite a bit bigger than you're probably looking at but, tracks are not kind to grass when making turns.

He came over last fall and "ground" out several big stumps for me. This thing is a land clearing beast.

If the wind stays calm today (not likely) I need to finish spraying around the edges of our large pond and a bit around the small one. Still have some Sedge that I missed last fall. The lily pads seem to be gone for good now. I've been using a 3.5% Roundup Custom Glyphosate mix and Aligare 90 surfactant, with really good results around ponds.

Glad your report was good, Kyle and you're feeling better. As others have advised, take it easy.

Ron ..... take care of that finger.

LS ..... were all looking forward to seeing new tractor action pics.

Don .....following your FireWise activities. We have many neighbors with heavy brush within a few yards of their homes.

Snow in May? Glad I'm in Texas (until July / August ).

Hoping everyone has a great "Hump Day Eve".

Prayers to all.

45°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today.

I was a half-hour late for work this morning due to traffic. Inspectors found a crack in the structure of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge across the Mississippi on Sunday, and closed the westbound side indefinitely. As the only way in and out of South St. Louis County from Illinois, all that traffic is now flowing up onto the downtown bridges. Traffic was backed up on I-64 for about 5 miles by the time I got to I-255, moving 2-3mph. Going to be one of those weeks.

Wife sent me a video yesterday of a helicopter pilot doing crazy turns over the house and barn while crop dusting the field across the road. She said it scared the you-know-what out of the dogs ... literally; one evacuated on the sunroom floor, and another while running down the stairs to hide in the basement. I've seen a few crop dusters in the area, but never one using a helicopter. Looked like fun to me. Told The Wife if this Quality thing doesn't work out for me, I might consider that for a career change :D

Great news about your doctor's visit, Kyle.

RNG, when we were looking, The Wife suggested we look as skid steers as well. She was working for a construction company then, and several of the guys she worked with suggested it. I looked at Bobcat, Case, Takeuchi, and NH, both new and used. New, they are quite expensive. Not so bad used, though. What turned us away was the cost of implements. Wow. Some were 2-3 times as much as their PTO counterparts. Ultimately, a tractor made more sense for us and our needs. Our neighbor with horses, though, went with a skid steer. Much handier for him cleaning out his barn.

Good luck with your rat, Randy. .222, .223, and .22-250 all seem like good medicine for that ailment. I've actually had the most success with proper application of .22WMR.

Yesterday a California jury awarded a couple a two billion settlement (that's billion with a "b") over their claim that glyphosate caused their cancers.

I've been using a 3.5% Roundup Custom Glyphosate mix and Aligare 90 surfactant, with really good results around ponds.

Heard about this on the news while sitting in traffic this morning. Aside from the completely ridiculous award amount, I wondered who people sued before Monsanto/Bayer when they got cancer. (shaking my head)

I've tried other products over the years, and always keep going back to Roundup. It just works.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

A cloudy, drizzly 35ºF, a cloudy 39ºF presently; and I anticipate a cloudy afternoon in the mid 40ºF’s for today’s high temperature. I actually got the wood stove going this AM and will probably do so again tomorrow. Maybe some sunshine tomorrow and Friday with the weekend looking mostly dry until late Sunday. It was squish, squish, squish walking the lower perimeter with Brogen this AM. Our garden area is almost as wet.

BEF- I am happy to read of your safe return and your FIL is getting out of rehab. I hope that your GI illness resolves quickly.

“… This is when it's just smart to get behind a truck in the right lane and turn up the music.”- Drew. I tend to respectfully travel with the Big Rigs on the interstates.

Kyle- Thanks for sharing your good news. Please take care.

RNG- Good luck with the NH dealership.

RonJH- I am happy to read that your finger is healing and good luck with the dentist.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

BEF, see if that college education makes them better mowers!
.

Lol, i doubt it. The graduate has previously stated he wants to live where he didn't need a tractor to mow. I think I went wrong by using all the tractor seat time.

The general idea with skid steer versions of PTO driven implements is to mount a hydraulic motor on the implement, then power it with the auxiliary hydraulics of the skid steer. The motor adds about a thousand dollars to the cost of the implement. Not cheap, but what cost safety? Here's one example.
When i drilled my pole barn holes i rented a skid steer with front 18" auger. That was sweet.

69°F and no rain.
Dentist went well yesterday. Jaw just a tad sore from extended opening.

Wife’s sister and husband gifted us with a Keurig coffee maker when they said goodbye. Will be trying it this morning.

Borrowing metal detector for friend this morning. He has expressed concern that the rebar and wire mesh maybe be problematic. IM hopeful that scanning from dirt side will be effective.

Typical of GM, lots going on here. Fascinating to read and observe.
RNG’s tracked skid steer exploration should be informative.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
