Good morning!!!!

I can't even remember when we ever bought anything but Miracle Whip.

Of course I grew up in the days when we made our own butter. And now we keep some real butter on hand at all times, but we also use more Blue Bonnet margarine; Blue Bonnet because it's cheap, and margarine because it's easier to spread.:)

I seriously doubt the cost difference would significantly impact our food budget. Some items just aren’t price sensitive. As for spreadability, I grew up that only time the butter dish was in the fridge was if hot enough for the butter to puddle, otherwise it was in the cupboard, ours stays on the counter. Can’t remember ever having to discard due to spoilage.

Same here, it takes a heat wave, or me stoking the woodburner too high in winter for butter to stay in fridge.
Life is simply too short for us impatient spreaders. :)

Good morning all. My arms ache this morning. Not a virus, just the after effects from carrying the youngest grandson around yesterday in places where there was too much dung on the grass to let him walk for himself. I had been told that he is saying a few words and indeed he pointed at Max and said "doggy". Very good - except he thought that same word was perfect to describe everything on four legs, or two, or has wings, or even after a bit of contemplation, the temperature :confused2: :)

I learned about the joys of leaving butter out in a covered butter dish here in Slovakia after 23 years of having to take butter out of the fridge an hour ahead to be able to spread it. Actually, I've survived all sorts of food handling practices that my mother is horrified by when she visits.

Btw, butter can be frozen without any problem, so if on sale, you can buy a whole box and drop it in the freezer.

30 °F and going to a high of 52. Wind NW 9 mph. 60% chance of showers.

I don't have much planned for today, so I think I will conserve energy.

I was raised on butter. At some point Mom switched us to margarine, I think I was around 9. You guys remember the margarine that had the dye pack in with the pure white margarine to make it 'look' like butter. Well it was my job to take a fork and stir in the dye.
Over the past 25 years I have been using butter exclusively. I especially like salt free (sweet) butter.

Have a good day all

57 going to 77.

Butter, mayo, yum. I'm not much for miracle whip, though.

LS, enjoy your period of anticipation awaiting your new tractor.

CWB, hope Big Boy makes it to the celebration. I'd love to be there. Did you ever hear of the TV series called **** on Wheels? Great show that followed the railroads building and fighting to ultimately get to that point in Utah.

Got to see Steve Winwood/Traffic in Williamsburg many years ago, but we were just as excited to see JJ Cale, who opened the show.

good morning all. Lovely morning, 63 going up to 78 today, rain has cleared out, wish we had gotten a little more,
now nothing in forecast until next weekend.

drinking black coffee this morning, AIC test at 8:30am, doc worried about sugar level taking prednisone. Well....I've stopped now, curious how my score is but
admit I likely won't be happy when I get it. Has been creeping up...
Then home to till some weeds and fertilize the potatoes with fish/seaweed emulsion.

have to admit, off the steroids, aches and pains are back and I sure don't feel in high gear anymore. More like struggling to
get from first to second...but at least my ear is somewhat better.

very pretty outside, everything is just as green as can be.
