RNG, pretty picture. Sounds like a great campout.

came in to sit down before I fell down. Picking collards since the sun came up.
Help came at 9, we filled all ten boxes of collards, 150-200 pounds, and my legs said
that's all. Food pantry van due shortly to pick up full boxes and drop off more empties.
This morning's helper is coming back this afternoon, to finish her row. The challenge is it used to be easy to
finish the row and claim that one for yourself. But now...whole lot of plants in there and it takes boxes and boxes and boxes to fill
to get down to the end. All good actually.

Easy to see now I planted about twice too much...

update: if you zoom in on the top of the first picture, with the sun coming up,
look for red flowers at the top of the field. These are American Legion red poppies, the same that grow
in Flanders Field in France. Grown for local garden club who asked for someone to grow them in a field.
I have more, tiny tiny ball bearing seeds, now that I know they will actually come up, I'll plant the rest.
Small American flag at far left, hard to see. Just trying to show my respect.

Good Morning. It was 69°F and overcast here this morning. Its already up to 72°F and 95% humidity. The forecast high of 82°F will feel like 88°F. Too early!

I mixed up a batch of 2.5% Glyphosate and surfactant, yesterday morning, to spray around the base of about 80 oak trees in our "yard". The winds stayed down and that went well. When finished I went back to the shop and mixed up a batch of 3.5% to spray around two ponds. I had no sooner got to the edge of the large pond, when the winds were blowing 12-15 mph, which scuttled my spraying for the day.

I got a call mid afternoon from one of my neighbors. He had cut down a huge live oak tree and another neighbor was coming by to get the trunk of the tree. He asked if I could come over and pick it up my grapple. I'm glad I took the 100 Hp tractor, as the log was about 3' in diameter and 15' long. My loader is rated for 5000 lbs. at the pins and the log was close to the limit of what I could lift. I had my big 3-point Bush Hog on the rear and loaded rear tires but, when I pick up the log, I could tell the rear end was really "light". I picked up the log but, had to back up a slight incline so, our neighbor could pull his trailer forward for loading. When reversing slowly the rear wheels wanted to spin so, I had to turn on 4WD. We got it loaded, strapped down, and neighbor went down the road. I'm expecting a call to go "unload" it soon. I was going to take a picture but, left my cell phone at the ranch. Guess I'll get some pictures when I go unload it.

Ted, John Ryan was shooting straight with you. Most tractors down here just have water in rear tires. I added about 25% RV Anti-freeze to mine on both tractors. If you can get a good deal on bulk washer fluid, that's a good way to go.

Jay, glad your getting good use from your new Air Fryer. I've got a new "kitchen toy" that I'll try out tonight.

Kyle, glad you getting better but ...... don't over do it.

Don .... do you know anyone who's got any talent in re-setting pavers? . I was watching Mark Levin, on FNC, last night. The floor of the area where he interviews his guests ..... looks somehow familiar.

Edit: oops ..... forgot picture.

Hope everyone has a good start to their week.

Prayers to all.

52°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 75° today with on and off rain. There is rain in the forecast for every day this week through Friday.

Was 39° yesterday morning, and never got warmer than low 50s all day.

Wife decided Friday evening that she wanted to go see the new Avengers movie this weekend. I suggested she was crazy, as most places were probably already sold out by mid-week. She checked online for the little theater in Highland IL, and sure enough, they still had seats available for the 3pm matinee Saturday. She bought two tickets. About 10 minutes later, she got a call from her nephew wanting to know if she could help him a bit. Him and his girlfriend and her 5-year-old son needed a place to stay over the weekend. Won't go into the details here, but they were essentially kicked out of their apartment. She told them they could stay in our spare room in the basement while they looked for another place. The girlfriend had to work Saturday, so The Wife went back online and bought two more movie tickets. I was surprised how well the boy did during the three hour movie, albeit sleeping through about half of it. The nephew wanted to grill yesterday, and had brought a bunch of chicken and brats, so we had a monster dinner last night. They really liked the change of pace of being in a nice, quiet atmosphere for a change. Wife suggested they might look for a place out by us and get away from the toxic environment they were around in Granite City. They agreed. The girlfriend hopped online and found the local senior care center in town was hiring, so she filled out an application then and there. The nephew is going today to put in an application where the youngest stepson is working, and they already found several places nearby that they can afford. Good kids, caught up with some less-good "friends," trying to make a new start. The nephew has a special bond with The Wife anyway. When he was younger, he used to come stay with her every other weekend for a couple of summers, to get him away from a rough home life. He always loved the time he spent at the farm. Hope this new change of scenery works for them.

Roy, I seem to have stopped going to gun shows. I used to never miss the local ones. It's been a long time since I've found any deals at one, that's for sure. It became more of a social gather for me for a long time. Here lately, though, I just can't motivate myself to go to one. Hope yours was a productive day for you.

Happy (belated) Anniversary, Bird.

Congrats on the new tractor, Ted. Not sure I've ever read anything bad about RCO.

Can't wait to see your progress reports on the boat, Eric. I looked online, but there doesn't seem to be a "Boat Building For Dummies" book yet. There are a bunch of websites devoted to first timers, though. What manner of boat are you going to build?

"... Just trying to show my respect."- Drew- Time to take a nap and rest those legs before the second shift checks in. Thanks for the pictures and sharing your world. "The War to End All Wars"

Ted- I too am waiting to see your finished headboard. Wifey woke up early (for her); apparently our Select Comfort bed lost some air last night. We've had a love-hate relationship with that "fancy" bed. We love it when it works. I've lost count of the # of compressors that I've replaced and one air mattress (my side) so far. Most of the replacements have been free, but one has to go through the required assessment process that takes a day or two. I am still sleeping downstairs on our memory foam mattress. I like that mattress and I am getting used to sleeping alone.;)

Paul- It reads like the expanded family situation is presently + workable and hopefully will be short lived. Nephew, GF, and son read like good people caught up in being a young family in "transition" which I bet most of us have experienced one way or another.
