Good morning! 56 ˚F heading to the 70s cloudy. Prevailing SE winds from the Gulf of Mexico.

Eric are garter belts really called suspenders in UK?

I, like Randy, remember wearing elastic suspenders as a child, the kind with the little metal clips. Apparently the belt was the new fashion used after WW1. Do suspenders eliminate plumbers butt? If so there are some people in the garden that need them.

Ron, a game camera aimed at the golfers? I don't know if that is legal. I need to check into that.
Do game cameras have a remote on off switch so when Whipper is in the back yard I can turn it off?

Sure they do. I do not know if this is a good one. I would hide it at the fence.

Good morning all. Marvelous weather forecast ahead, no temps lower than 40 in it, means I can replant the zinnias I croaked by putting them out too soon. Yesterday I sprayed Neem oil on all the veggies and collards, remarkable how many little holes already in the small veggies. Hungry bugs out there. Well, eat this...;) Mixed some spinosad (Bob's Dead Bugs) into the mix, both organic pesticides while the Neem oil helps with other issues.

Spent a good hour yesterday sharpening blades on LP 84 finish mower. Lifting the mower up with the three point hitch makes it so easy to work on, and now with a cordless impact gun, it's still a job I can do. Lots of rust in my face, same old, same old but I got all the hardware soaked in lube and then reinstalled. Mower is seven years old and still runs great. So later today I'm headed out to mow roadsides aka pick up trash. I used to take a garbage bag with me to throw it in, now I just throw it all in the FEL bucket, which works fine unless it's a windy day or I forget to clean out the bucket. Then next time I go for a load of mulch or dirt, all the cans and crap falls out and it's one of those Oh Man moments. The sins of someone else's past comes back to revisit me...

Going to try out my noise cancelling headphones today, charged them up yesterday, hope it allows me to run machinery with better results than just normal headphones I wear. Left ear still buzzing away.

Have a bad feeling about my new weedeater crew I contracted with, they have made excuses last two weeks why they haven't come, and still no show this week. I think they will be terminated before they start. Reliability is really important to me and chasing folks down to work here really annoys me. I leave phone messages, they don't get returned. Likely not a good fit for me. Am hoping to be pleasantly surprised today or tomorrow. Great weather, no excuses not to come. Thankfully I have my regular helper but he can only come three hours a week, which totally consumes him with weedeating versus other jobs I'd rather have him doing.

Sun is coming up, bright blue sky, going to be nice.
Hope it's a day of health and happiness for all.

I have to wear a elastic belt or overalls to keep pants up. Maybe I should try suspenders? When did that start? I don't remember my pants not staying up when I was younger.

My wife hung what I think is my first or second grade school picture on the wall in this room, and yep, suspenders with a white open collar shirt.

We never had suspenders growing up, but sure saw a lot of them.
Mennonites and Amish West of us wore suspenders almost exclusively.

Visited my next door Dr neighbors. Have not seen them since last year. I think I fixed there wifi. But they have a Apple all in one computer. :confused3: I have 290 mbps hook up. They have 70 mbps. Something is wrong. Well at least they now have constant 70 mbps. They are 250' away from me on a fiber optic system..

How old is their router? Especially if they're connecting over WiFi, an older router will limit their network connection speed. I think the latest is AC. The other possibility is that they aren't paying for anything faster than 70 mbps even though they are getting service through fiber. 70 mbps is still very fast.

I have been having so much fun and laughing about my white rock that I put outside my yard. Golfers keep coming to it to see if it痴 their ball. View attachment 597733
I知 amused easily.

Just think of all the extra exercise you're making for those golfers, Don. And all the bad karma you're making for yourself.:laughing:

They have a Apple router and a Comcast router setting 12" from each other. I think that is part of the problem. The Comcast has both 2.4 and 5G.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:15AM. Scattered thunderstorms this morning, then mainly cloudy during the afternoon with thunderstorms likely. High 58F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Couldn't sleep last night and ended up starting another of Rob Siegel's books. This one is something of an autobiography, and I was surprised I'm a couple years his senior. But we both seem to have gotten sucked into wrenching on things through bicycling, and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes with a successful repair. Not to mention not being taken advantage of by unscrupulous mechanics...

Speaking of which, I'll drop off the defective clutch master cylinder off at the ex-mechanic's place this morning since he expressed interest in pursuing a refund for it. I don't expect to see any of that money, just as I don't expect him to ever come up with a final billing.

The gear oil for the van showed up yesterday, and if the thunderstorms hold off, I'll see if I can't get that pumped back into the transaxle this morning. I have a slightly modified garden sprayer I use for the job, recently rediscovered on a high shelf along with a half gallon of very expensive ATF for the BMW car I used to have. Brought a tear to my eye when I dropped that stuff off at the recycling center last week.:hissyfit:

Grocery run to town this morning, drop some tires off at the recycler, then if I get home in time and the weather cooperates, more wood cutting.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

The last Airport router Apple made ran at 802.11n speed, or 450 mbps, still way faster than what they seem to be getting. But if it's an older router, that could be the issue. There should be a way to disable the WiFi on one of those devices. If you can figure out which one is the fastest, disable the other one or just unplug it. There's an Apple application called Airport Utility (Applications->Utilities->Airport Utility) for configuring the Apple router. The Comcast probably has a web interface at 192.169.0.1 or something similar. But you probably knew all of that, right?:confused3:

The last scoutmaster I had came up with the idea that we'd all get dressed up in knee socks with garters, shorts, campaign hats, and suspenders, and that we'd all go out and get jobs to earn the money to pay for them. He was an idiot and had a weird idea of what constituted fun, and a lot of us ended our scouting career as a result. I don't blame the suspenders, though.

Don, you need to get one of those little cocktail stirrer that looks like a hole flag and put by the rock.

I bet their English is a lot better than my Chinese, but they'd sell a lot more of 'em if they got someone to proofread that Amazon description.

I just took delivery of a 3.9mm diameter endoscope that came with NO instructions. Eventually the seller sent me a pdf that was probably written by the same folks. Fortunately a password, which is really all I needed, is language neutral.

Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission, Don. I think the homeowner's association would have a hard time justifying any action to curtail your efforts to improve the security of your property. Just make sure whatever game camera you get also captures sound. You might find the opinions on your pet rock that those golfers express to be entertaining.

FWIW, I wish I had a way of wirelessly downloading the images from my game camera without having to fool around with removing and installing an SD card. But then I have to change batteries every six months anyway, so I still have to get to it. But I'd check the images more often if it was more convenient.

Where Don lives there is probably someone that speaks and reads any language you want.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

A hazy sunny 18ºF start to the day, 28ºF presently, and I anticipate temps ranging around 50ºF later. Woodstove has been fed for the day. PT later and upon our return home we will be trying a “health conscious” uberPC :eek:bakery/pastry shop/restaurant. I do not always meet the established “standards” of conduct in these environments. I hate getting "The Talk."

Lou- I just ordered those suspenders. Wifey thinks that my mental status is further deteriorating. It’s not a problem with my head; it’s a problem with my powerful pear shape following the law of gravity.

Bruce- Thanks for the laugh.

Drew- I am sorry to read about your experiences with roadside trash cleanup and the “lawn service” crew. More examples of the deteriorating sense of community/civic standards and work ethic in our society. I have ~1/4 mile of road to clean up once the snow melts and I am more able to walk. Not only do I have to deal with the nasty debris I have to contend with the oblivious, cellphone involved m@$$h*le drivers driving well above the established 35MPH speed limit. It appears they can not see people, turkeys, nor tractors on the road.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

Mt + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.
