That's why there is a serious obesity problem out here! ....But boy, it is good stuff!

Around here at all the Farm Shows, Fairs, and Carnivals some of the venders sell deep fat fried dough loaded with powdered sugar after it's cooked. A guaranteed sugar rush, elevated blood sugars, and bad heartburn. I have not eaten a doughnut nor fried bread in over a decade. I prefer my grease and carbs in other forms. I am considering going to a Processed Junk Meat and Sausage Eaters Anonymous Meeting soon. I am getting those cravings again.

Been listening to Jim Messina since the Buffalo Springfield Days, then on into Poco, then with Kenny Loggins, then out on his own. And I agree, his mandolin playing really sets him apart.

I was first thinking tostada also but down here the tostadas are more like a flat corn taco shell, the gorditas are more of a bread.

I am being educated on what tacos, tostadas, and Gorditas really are. I am still learning about Mexican and SouthWestern foods and cooking. There are couple of decent Mexican restaurants around here that I believe cook authentic dishes (or close). I am still more comfortable ordering tequila than actual Mexican/SW foods. I actually review their menus on the internet and then google the food entrees.

Lately I have been thinking about cheesesteaks. Other than the processed junk meats I do not miss the "less than healthy" foods/food groups.

We love Mexican food. (We love lots of different ethnic foods.) I could probably eat tacos every day and never get tired of them. There are so many delicious things you can shove into a tortilla and eat.

I never had much exposure to Mexican/SouthWestern foods and meal preparation. And the Mexican fast food chains' offerings of years past were generally tasteless/bland pasty stuff which needed a lot of hot sauce. Luckily we now live near a diverse multi-ethnic area with decent restaurants offering "authentic" ethnic/regional foods. With an idea of how a meal should taste from the restaurant entrees I will experiment with the right ingredients until I get it right. I no longer consider Mexican food bland.

My tree trimming was over before it started today. The early 5-7 mph winds, turned into 15+ mph with gusts well over 20 mph.

Sun is still out though. Maybe winds and sunshine will help in drying this place out a bit.
