Happy New Year everyone! 2019 is starting out 36 and you guessed it-raining. 2 more rain events listed for the upcoming week. We need snow!

Happy New Year All!
We made it through another one.

Strangely warm this morning, 68 out going to 71, very cloudy.
Going to take down rest of xmas lights, then might prune the rose bushes.
Have to wait another couple of weeks to prune fruit orchard, just too warm out. Pruning them now would
activate tree growth, not what I want. Trees need to be as "asleep" as possible, meaning as cold as possible.

speaking of cold, studied floating row covers this morning and ordered about 150 feet of 1.2mil plastic and 4 foot hoops to hold it up.
This way I can get some early vegetables going while reducing chance of frost damage. We may be having a warm winter this year but only takes one freeze to ruin a lot of work.

Starting the year off needing to lose ten pounds somewhat quickly. Too much holiday food, too much sugar. Belt is tight, depressing reminder
of spare tire being carried around. At least it's a small tire, used to carry a 50 pound tire around.

66 degrees outside is the welcome to the New Year! Very windy, and won't get any warmer, maybe even another shower. Drizzled or rained all day yesterday, but still only got about .15 inch.

Hope Mrs Bird had a happy birthday! ...and same for today for Kekoa.

Hope RNG is enjoying his trip.

Stayed up to kiss my wife at midnight, and was in bed asleep by 12:05.

Perhaps a bit of an odd start to the new year, but NWS says it's currently 37 degrees just before 5 a.m. and that will be the high for today, with 30 tonight for the low and a good chance of rain the next 2 days. We're getting a bit tired of rain. But we don't have anything planned for today, so we can stay in and take it easy.

Is it only in the south that you must have Blackeyed Peas on New Year's Day for good luck? Fortunately, my wife and I both like then anytime, so we definitely have them on New Year's.

Got started off on the right foot by pouring first cup of coffee of new year. 34° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 34° with cloudy skies. Steady light rain yesterday. .6". Fell asleep in recliner yesterday evening. Woke up about 11:45. But do not remember seeing clock hit midnight. :ashamed: Got footrest finished yesterday. Need to bring it in from shop. That should be my projects for the day.

Went to all 3 big box stores yesterday. I now know why I like shopping at Menards. Needed some rough sawn cedar for a project I am working on. Depot and Lowes had 20 pieces of some scrap that was not even good for firewood. Menards had about 60 boards in the rack. Which allowed me choose boards that would do my project. There were 2 floor people working the area going threw every rack picking out bad pieces of wood and removing them from the racks. Then they took them to a chop saw and cup them up. Price for the boards was $4 cheaper than the other 2.
Maybe Lowes and HD are trying to follow in the step of Sears. Our local mall store will be closing in the near future.

33F light steady rain low 40's for high.
Little over 1" snow sleet combo light coat icing and wind going huff and puff around 25 mph.
Plans for today... Once the rain ends plow the mess before it turns cold clean steps walks,other than that kick back putter in basement.

Pretty warm here...47 right now. That's as high as it's going to get with the temperature dropping to the mid-upper 30's today. Pretty sloppy slush on the walks and drive, so I'll want to clean that up after a coffee or two.
