Good morning! 32˚. Last evening was the neighborhood walk about where the neighbors either walk or golf cart the 6 streets in or neighborhood and look at the Christmas decorations in the yards. Two of the house were open for visiting and refreshments. It was well attended, about 150 neighbors at the two open guest houses.

I tried to hike to the trail area we are cleaning up Thursday but the water was too high from Friday's rains and the cement bridge over the creek was under water. I'll try again this afternoon. Its about a mile hike to the platform and trail area that needs our maintenance.

Happy Birthday Betty!

Crazy day here at work today. Apparently, my three days off was almost more than they could bear. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in this building who's not deathly afraid of metric measurements. I'll never understand that, as metric is so much simpler. Wondering how they'll fare when the same thing happens this coming weekend.

See what happens when you become so good at your job you become an essential part of the machine? Try screwing up more often; they'll start looking forward to your days off!:laughing::laughing:

left the charger for this laptop home so maybe I can find another tomorrow, or I'm going to do a lot of catching up on Friday.
hope you all are well.

Try asking at the front desk if you can look through their "lost & found" box for a replacement. Most hotel/motels have a very good selection of chargers left behind by previous guests, and he price is right!

Glad the snow stayed south.

I like the stihl caps, never had any issue with them.

I like hot sauce, but use it sparingly.

Happy birthday Betty.

My wifes birthday is coming up 2 weeks from today. She gets a Merry Birthday.

It was 20° for the low this morning. Yesterday was another nice sunny day in the low 40's. Today is going to be in the high 30's and sunny again. The forecast says we have a chance of snow showers tomorrow.

We got the windshield wipers on yesterday without any problems. We drilled a pilot hole and then went back with the right size drill. It only took about about ten minutes to do one. We went for a ride when we got done, to see if we could find some elk and deer. The only thing we saw was three moose and a lot of tracks.

Not sure what I'm doing today.

ronjhall ... Tell you wife happy birthday.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 6:15AM. Partly cloudy. High near 55F. NNE winds shifting to SW at 10 to 15 mph.

A brief power outage woke me up at about 4:45AM, triggering relays to go clunk in the night. It's been windy, hopefully it wasn't power lines slapping together showering the ground with sparks somewhere. Not that there's much danger from fire here these days; there's precious little left to burn.

Had lunch with my evac host yesterday, oddly enough in a bar. The food was good, but I don't drink during the day, especially if I'm driving, and he's not drinking alcohol at all these days. But apparently the place is his "Cheers", and every so often someone he knew would come over to say hi. Very friendly place!

Noticed that the clutch pedal was slippery on the van as I arrived, and there was brake fluid on the floor. Turns out that the master cylinder for the clutch was leaking. Called the mechanic, who agreed to look at it, and verified that the seal around the actuating rod on that brand new part was leaking. He didn't have a replacement on hand, but agreed he'd fix it, and confessed it's a PITA to get one in and out. But not until after the holiday; he's booked up with work on evacuee vehicles and from time he took off at Thanksgiving. :confused2: : I wrapped a rag around the leaking line, and will limit driving it for the next few weeks. The leak is small, but it's for sure not going to get any better and will in all likelihood get much worse.

The good news is I figured out what I was doing wrong with the speedo pulse frequency box and was able to fix the ignition cutout problem. My first clue that I was onto something was when the van cutout at 5 MPH in the driveway! By the time I got to the main highway, I had it tuned pretty closely, and two more stops had it right on. Turns out I had to hit the reset switch after each adjustment, and I was leaving it in the adjust position. That wasn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions.:eek With that fixed, the van saw 80 MPH for the first time, and still had pedal to go...:D

Also picked up a new cap for the fuel tank on the chainsaw. Just as I was paying, another clerk set a new chainsaw on the counter for the customer standing next to me and announced the price. It was the same as mine five sixty-one. Except his had a couple extra zeros tacked on.

It was dark by the time I headed home yesterday, so I got to try out the new LED headlight "bulbs" I'd installed in the van. What a huge difference they made! For the first time, the road ahead was well lit and I could see clearly several hundred feet out. I'd even guessed fairly well on the alignment, and only needed to tweak them just a little during a stop on the quiet road close to home. The high beams were also very good and cast light even farther. The cheapo LED matrix lights I substituted for the old high beams are broad work lights, which will help with cornering, but didn't do much at all for distance, though. So if I install an LED light bar, it'll be more of a pencil beam. That's a pretty big if because the regular high beams are probably good enough.

More tree hacking and dragging on the agenda for today...

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

A brisk 5ºF to start my morning. Coffee going down far too quickly:eek: Temperature should be hovering ~30ºF later today. This midweek clipper is pretty moisture starved. I do not anticipate any real accumulation. Weather models are still struggling with this weekend storm. I do not see a lot of frozen precipitation with this weekend storm for me if I see any storm at all. We'll see.

RonJ- Good luck with the PT, try not to overdo the recommended exercises or the physical activity around your place (like now shoveling). I hope you achieve completely pain free full ROM. Good luck. I hope your wife has a great birthday today.

I sooner rather than later had to replace most of my Stihl equipment's gas caps.

Bill- Thanks for the recommendation.

Billy- Now I am envious. Snowshoeing in a Winter Wonderland is one of my favorite activities. My snowshoes are still waiting to see use, but my YakTrax see daily use ~4X/day.

All my dogs loved to go snowshoeing except my last two Saint Bernards. Miss GracieLou would é›»isappear every time she saw me bringing them out. Leo would just step in my tracks and on the backs of my snowshoes = face planting for me.

Randy- Good luck with doctor.

"... Heat for the sake of bragging rights ranks right up with hitting your toes with a hammer, just because you can doesn稚 mean you should."- Randy. Nowadays per demands of my GI tract:mad: I have to agree.
:(

Buppies- Thanks for the pictures. Nice job plowing. Enjoy your snow management activities today.

RNG- It's nice to read your daily agenda activities again and that life is back to a new "normal." I sometimes get tired just reading about your daily activities. :embarrassed:

Nothing really planned for today that I did not do yesterday nor the day before. I am awaiting the delivery of a LED light kit for the tractor. That will at least give me an excuse to fire it up. I was reminded that our anniversary is tomorrow

I hope that everyone is having a manageable day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Happy birthday Betty! Have a great red hat day and stay warm.

Don, you would have had trouble getting out of your old place due to flooding.

22°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 52° today. A few more days of warmer weather ahead, but rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. Looks like we won't dip back below freezing until Sunday night.

Happy Birthday to Betty.

I heard some crime stats on the radio yesterday that suggested overall crime was down in the city of St. Louis. But, even the reporter questioned that and presented some startling numbers. While they like to focus on "gun" crimes, the one that stuck out the most to me was the 2500 cars stolen in the city from January through November this year. That's over 200 cars a month. Those numbers are for the city only, and don't include the surrounding areas of St. Louis County or the metro east communities. That's just insane.

Well Eric, I once had thoughts of my own runway, grass strip anyway. But no, actually less guests due to some local government changes.

Hmmm, that new 50 sf is on the volcano side...

Happy Birthday, Betty

Pretty snow pics. Just glad I dont have to shovel.

Happy Anniversary tomorrow, Jay

Wow Buppies, looks like mid winter in New England. The little that fell here is stubborn about leaving.

Doctor visit was good, have to get bloodwork done yet, got an update on my kidney decline and aorta stenosis. Looks pretty good for the mid term at least.
