Yes, I hear of this quite often. One of the stories we like to tell is when we told my mom that we were moving to New Mexico. She kept asking over and over why we were moving out of the country?. It took the assistance of other family members and a few weeks to finally convince her that it was actually a state.

I couldn't resist to keep the issue going, so after we got settled in, I would go out of my way to take pictures of old wagons, outposts, and ghost towns and send them back to her. I would make up daily schedules such as: 4am...go hike out to the well and pull up 3 or 4 buckets of water for coffee and washing. Then start the fire up. Make sure to feed the chickens and children before leaving for town... Etc... I had her going for months....

I just had to say goodbye to my little buddy of 12 years about 2 hours ago. It was a loosing battle with a very aggressive cancer. Just 4 weeks ago there were no signs.... Fighting to type from behind my tears... This was Kipp...

Ted, you certainly have my sympathy. We lost Dee, our chihuahua, 10 months ago. She was 10 years old and the ideal dog for us. And yep, I cried, still brings tears to my eyes when I think about her.

We see it happening to us in the future. Our Muffin is almost 14 years old. Blind and loosing her hearing. But still keeps us entertained and active. Going to be a very big empty spot in our lives when it happens.
