Ron, those cranes are way cool. They must like your feed.

Larro, just looking at all that pine made my back hurt.
Which it is at the moment since helper did a surprise show up so I've been working hard outside
with him all morning. Got all the leaves cleaned up and we are stapling down new plastic in the garden,
as I try to envision what goes where. One thing for sure, nothing grows through this professional plastic.
Never ever buying that stuff from Lowes again.

ok, back to work. I have a tough boss:D

I do not know why they did not head south. They have been by the feeder almost everyday since I started feeding birds in early October. Last year I thought I heard them on quiet days. But never saw them. Had as many as 5 in yard at times this summer. Only 2 this fall. I keep worrying they will attack our dog when she is outdoors. Still interesting to watch.

Still no power but we are still doing fine. Dominion Power has 11,000 Meters in Waynesboro and only 3,000 are turning. Talked to to Dominion guys today from northern Va so they are calling in help. Buppies, hope you get power soon.

RNG you could check into an ozone genertor for the smoke smell. Ed

hope all without power get it back quickly.

back is screaming, headed for long soak in hot tub.
helper works me to death...;)
we got all the leaves done plus finally got new plastic down in the garden.
going to experiment with growing in plastic this year. That and the right kind of mulch
and this veggieorama should be easier this year.
Center "lane" is walking lane, then two strips that I'm going to cut
out the equivalent of the footprint of a 2x4 and plant in that hole.
Going to lay a 2x4 down and just cut along the edges.

am off to become a pickled prune; wonder if they have a waterproof kindle, I'd stay in for too long likely...

older brother just emailed me, his lawfirm just shut down
their Sacramento office due to bad air quality, and are keeping a watch on San Francisco.
The products of combustion are life threatening:
one of first things you learned in fireman training.
Why they have to wear airpacs so much now.
They learned the hard way, old "leather lungs" didn't live to a ripe old age.

RNG, so glad you are doing ok. Just be careful what you breathe.

Thanks, Drew. UPS dropped off new N95 particle masks yesterday, the kind with exhaust valves to keep our glasses from fogging up so much. Seems like glasses are very popular with my host's family. The air is really bad, as bad as I've seen it in other towns in the west during wildfire season. Mostly we're staying inside, and not dawdling outside when we have to run errands. Even so, we're all coughing and there's lots of congestion to go around. Not fun.

The weather is supposed to change Wednesday next week, with winds from out of the south and more than a half inch of rain possible. We could sure use it.

Good evening all. 29F this morning, clear sky, calm wind. More wind today, sky stayed clear, High temp was 67F. Kitchen cleanup and dog sitting to start the day, then outside to mow, almost finished before lunch. Nap time after lunch then could not get started again :(
RNG, thanks for the post. My BIL folks went through the 73 and 93 Mississippi River floods, 73 got to their door step, 93 had 4 feet in the house. They were were in their 70's so just sold as is and moved to town. I think they had lived at that location for about 30 years. Like you said, wait to see what happened, then seeing the extent of the damage really took the "wind out of their sails".
Billie glad your visit to SS office went as well as it did. :drink:
Farmer you have back up genny for the birds?
PJ talk to a friend in St Charles county abiut 10AM they had 3" snow on ground and 3" more expected.
Prayers for all.

Rained all night until about 4, wind gusted over 30 until noon or so. Got to 39 this morning, 52 today and 33 at 9:45 pm tonight.
RNG, I’m so glad you didn’t lose yorhome!

Buppies, hope the power is on, it’s a pain, even with a generator.

Didn’t do a lot today, did visit my mom and she was having a good day.

Have a great weekend everyone, God bless.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, we have a chance to be selfish and create big smiles for ourselves by helping some folks, that for whatever reason, can’t help themselves. If it’s dropping off a turkey or a bag of potatoes at the shelter, or making sure some kid that thinks Christmas is just for other kids, finds out Santa loves him too, or slipping $5 to a homeless guy that might buy a burger, or might by a bottle of wine. Either way, if do what we feel is right, what others do is out of our control.
We get the feel good and someone gets helped. We are all so fortunate while many are not.

Goos evening all. 43F for the start, clear, calm wind. Sky stayed clear. wond stayed light, high temp was 73F. Worked on removing rotting timber landscape wall, was more of a chore than we thought, several pieces were not as rotten, and held onto the rebar rather tightly. Subdivision has dumpsters this weekend for such projects, all gone now. 6 pieces of rebar left to remove, have jack to help. Tomorrow is Denton Turkey Roll ride, probably won't be far from Bird.
Farmer, that is some genny!
Hope those w/o power get it back soon.
PJ that was a scary conversation, like dingbat was not listening to boss!!
Kyle thanks for update on the deputy.
Paul Welcome to the thread.
Weather in Missouri was volatile as well PJ can confirm.
Prayers for all.

Evening bits and pieces and random thoughts:

Iphone mystery.
When the garage door opener is used a song starts playing on my wife's iPhone. Any ideas how to stop the music? Has this happened to anyone else?

Kyle, Deputy Lehman from LaGrange was on the 5:00 Austin FOX news. His face looks peppered from the shotgun blast but he seemed in good spirits. He says he wants to get back to work. He was in very good spirits. He is still back and blue around his seeing eye. I hope his vision is not too impaired, he seems like a nice guy.

Eric, on The Great British Baking Show they always call cookies biscuits. Do you have anything called cookies over there?

Waveform of my primary generator not looking good.

Load vs no load, no difference.
Changed out the AVR, no change

Should look closer to this

I'm sure everyone has heard the old saying, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a few minutes, it'll change." After a low of 21 degrees 2 days ago, this morning the low is 40 going for a sunny high of 71.

RNG, always glad to hear good news.

Here we say Drive 5 minutes. Quite often don’t have to go that far.

I have the Sunsetter telescoping flagpole, my 2nd. 20 ft but I can’t fly that high, usually 1 section lower due to wind. We go through 3-4 flags per year, the 4x6 embroidered nylon ones. They usually fray starting from the top stripe. Sometimes they fray yet don’t separate, so they almost look whole from a distance.
