RNG be safe, all the stuff won’t amount to to a pittance when we are gone.
Mom has been there for 15 months now and will be 96 in April. She stayed with us for 3 1/2 years before that. We were getting our world back to the new normal after she went to the care facility, three months later Lynn died.
So now I have an altogether different new normal.
Rain and mild today before turning cold for the weekend. God bless.

29 and going to 34. Wind NNE 13 mph. Snow in the forecast. Environment Canada says 10-20 cm (4 to 8") None yet.
The Weather Channel is still saying 1-3" for Friday day, Friday night and Saturday day. YES! I get to wear my new Mukluks!

RNG, as long as your butt is safe the rest is just 'stuff'.

As far as scammers go, most of the time I let the call go to voice mail and then delete the message. Every so often I will call them back to hear their pitch. I NEVER give them any information, no name, no SSN, no address. They have all that because they called me, I tell them. It usually goes down hill from there. They threaten me with jail, I say "Yeaaaaaahhhh! Free room and board and no bills! Bring it on, baby" and then hang up.
I hardly ever answer 'private number' calls, nor do I answer 'restricted number' calls. They can both go to voice mail and I will pick it up from there, maybe.

I bought me a new Sawzall, couch and diesel pump yesterday.

Have a good day all

It was 9° this morning, going to 45° this afternoon with a 15-20 mph wind. Yesterday was in the mid 30's and windy with sunny skies.

Will be working on cleaning camper up and putting stuff away again today.

RNG ... Hoping everything goes will for you.

The weekend is almost here. Hope everyone in joys it.

Good morning to all! Low of 25 this morning, going up to 46, spotty fog in the low areas. Supposed to get a little warmer for the weekend, highs of around 55. Then a drop to a high of only 30 on Mondaywith a chance of snow.

RNG, glad you are safe, hope the fire keeps its distance from your place. Unbelievable amount of damage that occurred so quickly. I'm sure the pictures we see on the news doesn't reflect the true devastation. God bless you, stay safe.

Ron, beautiful picture....

Everyone have a great weekend, prayers sent.

35° and rain this morning, going up to 40° today. Supposed to drop to 20° or maybe even in the teens tonight. Will be our first hard freeze. Some areas just to our north got some snow this morning. One coworker from Jerseyville IL said she had almost an inch.

Glad you're safe, RNG. Hope your property can dodge the bullet as well.

Got a few hours yesterday afternoon on the storage shed. Just a bit more and all done (except for power washing the siding and painting (used metal that needs cleaning)). Temps dropped fast last night, 22F when I went to bed.

Still with friends in Chico, looks like the firesafe zone at the house got tested last night, but won't know if it survived until they lift the evac orders...

Fingers crossed...

fingers and toes crossed for RNG.

sign in Senior Center this morning, listing three biggest scams for seniors:
1. IRS demanding money
2. Something medically related
3. Grandchildren calling for money in emergency, usually jail bond (not)

My sister in Muir Beach reports first smoke she has smelled there, the "Butte" fire? She said that fire map was scary, and yes it is.

A neighbor is reporting this scam today today:

"Got a text message today that read
Notice-512mynumber from CHASE-Bank. Code: Visa Debit-Card temporary locked. Call us now at 918-203-3115 to unlock.

I have a Chase Visa debit card and Chase has sent me fraud alerts in the past, but the wording made me suspicious. I called the number from my land line. A woman's automated voice said something like,

"Welcome to Chase Credit Card Fraud Department. Please enter your credit card number and hit the pound key."

I entered in a made up number, "4141 4141 1414 1414 #."

"Please enter your PIN code as you would at the bank."

I put in, "1113."

"Please enter the expiration date as a 4 digit number. May 2016 would be 0516."

I entered, "0519."

"Enter your zip code." I put in, "55555."

"Enter the 3 digit code on the back of your card." I entered, "007."

"To verify your identity, please speak your name in a loud clear voice."

I said, "Barack Obama."

After a short pause, "You credit card has been unlocked. Thank you for calling Chase.""

this is when you wish you had a camera installed...though watching it could be worse.

is there such a thing as a nonflammable tree or shrub?
I'd get a bunch...
Metal or terracotta roof, automatic extinguishing systems under eaves, swimming pool plumbed for big pump and building sprinklers.
Lot of money to live in a fire zone...hard to stay safe. Except to leave.
RNG, don't think I could do it. Even with all the safety bells and whistles nothing will stop a fire storm. You have to get rid of the
fuel first, which is why many fire breaks get jumped because they weren't big enough. Too much fuel...too much wind, too much of everything.
Too hostile an environment. Of course one could say that about living in the Florida Keys too.
Both have a lot going for them, until they don't.

May RNG's home get two inches of rain tonight.

Started snowing here in the last hour. The forecast called for it, but I recall how much they predicted. Flakes have been varying from big to really small. Temps are around 33F. Just in time to make rush hour fun going home on Friday night.. glad I work from home. Wife is headed out to pickup granddaughter from preschool in a few minutes, praying for safe trip.
