I evacuated at noon and am now staying with friends in Chico, Ca. So far, the latest fire map shows my property hasn't burned yet, but the fire is awful close:

I saved two motorcycles and the F250, but the van, tractor, and the rest of the worldlies are on their own for now. Fingers crossed...

This greeted me this morning, burning several miles to the north, spreading in a SE direction. Close enough I can hear the propane tanks around the homes exploding. Truck is ready to go, every thing else is parked in what I hope are safe places, far enough away from the house and other combustibles. If it starts coming down the canyon I'll bug out; the Sheriff has already told me I've been issued an evacuation order.

Keep yer fingers crossed for us up here, fellas. It's called the Campic fire right now, that may change. Started in Concow, and is spreading to the large community of Paradise, which has largely been evacuated.

Well, things are a happening. I haven稚 posted much and been very involved mostly because I致e non-tractor lifing.

That changed today. If you look at my profile you will see that instead of JCB 165HF my tractor is a Volvo MC85C. The Volvo is built on the JCB assembly line, I知 a mono boom kind of guy, love the door since most of the time I work by myself.

Old JCB was named Iris and the Volvo is named Maggie. Both of them are named after grandmas.

Maggie is a 2013 and has 378 hours. She was employed in a horse operation so she never did any real work, mostly moving stuff, horse stuff.

That will change this weekend.

Good evening all. 53F this morning, calm wind, overcast skies. Skies remained overcast all day with intermittent light drizzle, wind light to moderate and high temp of 54F. Finished getting house put back to normal, dog sit and bike ride today.
RNG sorry to hear you had to bug out. I hate the thought of the van still there, it is sooo close!!
Harv feel free to include non tractor life, some of us have no tractor or acreage anymore.
Randy when Mom had issues living alone,, after she left the hospital, she had to go to a skilled nursing care facility. I was already living in Texas and was a two day drive to visit her. Long story short, she did not improve enough to live on her own again, and did not last a year in the skilled nursing facility. Wish I knew that when I could visit her:ashamed:

Good morning, not too cold this morning at 9C/48F, however the wind is going to be up in the 40 mph plus region with plenty of rain, probably best to find something to do inside today.

Yesterday the lamb that held the record for getting it's head stuck in fences and gates got itself stuck again twice before 10 am. He couldn't have been looking for grass, as there was none on the other side of the fence. His other trick this last week was to pull all the hay out of the rack without any desire to eat it, he would just watch it fall to the floor. Now he has finally gone off to auction and I am feeling a little of PJ's empty-nest euphoria

Glad I mowed/mulched the leaves again yesterday. They are plenty wet now.

I received the woodstove slip connector pipe from TSC Wednesday as promised and assembled, drilled, and screwed all pipes together and did a trial fit yesterday. Added a new gasket and mortar cement to tighten the fit up into the chimney and let it set overnight. Will re-insert and screw into back of woodstove today and build the first fire of the season...about a month later than usual. Looking at low to mid 20s tomorrow night.
