Good morning all, rain has moved out, cloudy day today, colder weather finally coming in.
Buppies, feel better.
Toppop, that has to be hard on you, hope you have as much time as is good for your Mom. I'm glad Ellen is there for you.

Have no idea what I'm doing today. Kind of nice actually to have nothing planned for once.

Good morning! 56˚ misting, 80% chance of rain, NW wind, high of 61˚.

Rotate tires and a oil change today in the Subaru. A few house and garage maintenance projects today.

Mom seems to have settled down after being rattled. Mom said she called the sherif and they were glad she did not give them any money but beside that she said they did not seem too interested. RNG thanks for the suggestions, some are already in place, just because of something just like this.

Buppies take care of yourself, we aren't getting any younger and as a good friend said: "It only gets worse."
Hmm, I guess that's not very encouraging. Hope your arm feels better soon.

No coffee yet this morning. 35° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 43° with some sun. Trip to airport was not as bad as it could have been. But still glad I do not have to do it for my job anymore. Early morning doctor appointment for 1 month visit after surgery. Then return for first cup of coffee.

Buppies, take care of that arm.

Randy, Prayers for you Mom.

Don, I have been getting some of those scam calls lately. Disgusting.

Good Morning All.

31 going to 34F. Wind WNW 15 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

A town run is in the cards for today. Get some fresh(er) greens, and a new pump for the oil tank. Maybe a new oil tank IF the price is right.

I have an appointment for the end of the month to go over the Dodge with 'a fine tooth comb' and change the oil and filters. The air filter looks good.
That is something I should have done right after I bought it, but 3 days after I bought it, I was back to work and it sat all summer. The mechanic says that the suspension is what goes first on them Dodge Journeys and he wants to put it on the front end hoist, which is booked solid to the 28th Nov.

The DIL is hounding me again to get the flu shot. It is only effective for about 4 strains, so in order to be protected with no guarantee that I wont get the flu anyway I would have to get well over 30 shots. That AINT gonna happen. Natural immunities are way better and the only way to build them up is to get the flu.
She says the flu could kill me, I say I could slip in the shower and die. I am on the down hill slide anyway (72) so what is the difference. I plan on living until I am 99, but realistically speaking I am not likely to live until I am 98.

Have a good day all

Interesting weather we're having. I see many of you expecting a very slight change from the low to the high temperatures today. I was a bit surprised this morning to see that the NWS shows the current temperature, the low for today, and the expected high for today to ALL be 55 with a 60% chance of rain, mainly after noon.

And since I was expecting a cool, rainy day, I haven't planned on getting out, and I already have a big crockpot of Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Chili cookin'.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 71F. Winds NNE at 10 to 20 mph.

I've gotten a flu shot every year for as long as I can remember, and don't recall ever having the flu after getting one. Some pretty bad colds, yes, just not the flu. Maybe I'm lucky, but I just think that getting protection from some strains is better than not getting any protection at all. If you get a nurse or pharmacist that knows what they're doing with the syringe, it doesn't even hurt that much. Mostly, though, immunizing a large fraction of the populace prevents the disease from spreading; it prevents pandemics that in the past have killed many, many people. That's the main reason I get the shot.

My heart goes out to those caring for an older parent. All you can do is do your best and roll with the punches. Enjoy the time you have with them; the world will be emptier when they're gone.:(

The old 17" laptop came back yesterday, but now I'm catching my self reaching to tap something on the screen, iPad style.:confused2: Very glad to have a trackpad and decent keyboard again.

My suspicions were right about the old BMW: The exciter circuit was open and the rotor wasn't getting the current it needed to magnetize; no electricity was the result. One of the leads to the bridge resistor someone installed had broken right next to the resistor, and pulling the tape off of it made it obvious what was wrong. Put in a new one and still no juice, and tracked that down to a bad voltage regulator. That was another used part that I thought was good, but hadn't tested. I've installed a nifty volt meter/ammeter on the other older BMWs, and it uses an innovative shunt that is very small that's easy to fit to the negative lead of the battery. Went to order another one yesterday and it seems they've been discontinued. Substitutes I've seen so far are pretty bulky and the meter just displays amps, so I'm not sure what I'll do now.

The weather service issued another Red Flag Warning yesterday that lasts until Friday, and so far I've had two robo calls from PG&E warning me that they could shut off the power at any time if they think weather conditions warrant it. Better that than having their power lines spark another disaster, but I can't help but recall that a few years ago they were heavily fined for diverting millions of dollars from a fund set aside to do line maintenance, and using it to prop up shareholder returns. And recently our governor signed a new law that relieved them of any financial liability from the fires of this year and last, even if power lines are shown to be the cause. So we customers sit in the dark while the wind howls, and PG&E says there's no money to do the work they should have been doing all along.:muttering:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Want to sell me all kinds of medical stuff. You have 1 day to pay a court fine. Stuff like that.

I got an email a while back, using a good friend's return address, that claimed he was somewhere in Mexico, broken down and out of money, facing some kind of fine/legal problem. I was to wire a large amount of money to him and he'd repay me when he got back in country. I responded asking for a photo of himself holding up a local paper to prove he was who he said he was and where he was, and got no further response. Later, I used google to search for a short passage of text from the "ransom" email and got back returns that showed it to be a scam. If I wasn't the suspicious type, my concern for my friend would have cost me dearly. It doesn't take much imagination to understand how easy it is to take advantage of caring friends and relatives, especially those that don't have much experience with computers, the internet, and the dregs of society that pull these stunts with virtually no chance of getting caught.:2cents:
