Good Morning!!!! 62F @ 5:45AM. Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. Thunder possible. High near 65F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
A little after six yesterday evening a storm cloud rolled over and dumped 0.11" of rain, the first since last May. Another 0.01" came in after midnight, and we'll see a bit more today. The weed season begins. But it was enough to cut the dust on the driveway, and the Volkswagon got its first bath in a looooooong time. I'll have to go looking for leaks in the roof now.
The iPhone said it got the special Presidential message at 11:18AM yesterday, but I was out of the room at the time and didn't hear any noise from that direction. How nice to be a member of such an exclusive club!
Bet it feels good to have the driveway job behind you, Drew. Hope it lasts a very long time!

Got the driving lights mounted to the engine guards on the old BMW yesterday. The kit came with bolts to attach the yokes at the bottom, but to use them the tubular guards would need to have a threaded sleeve installed. I found an old bolt to make the sleeves from (easy lathe work, huh Ed?), and used the mill to drill the holes. Turns out the iPhone already had an app for measuring angles, but I couldn't quite get the 25° slope needed in the vise. 29° turned out to be close enough for the girls I go with. Tried welding one in but made a mess, so the rest got silver brazed. That's when I found out I was out of both oxygen and acetylene on the big torch; it only took thirty-eight years to empty them.

Had dad's old air-acetylene outfit still, and that turned out to work just fine with a little patience. The guards'll get bead blasted today if I get a long enough break in the rain.
Grocery run into town today, and will take those bottles in for a refill as well. The Vanagon will get a workout, but only if I can figure out how to keep those bottles from rolling around.
