74° here this morning and forecast is for high of 85° with rain chances at 80%.

Not to be outdone, by our East Coast friends, we have Invest 95L trying to form up in the Gulf. 70% chance it turns into a tropical depression so, looking for a wet weekend. All the forecast tracks take “it” south of Houston and straight to us.

Looks like some Kubota Zero Turn riding this morning before the rains come this afternoon.

Our local drought has finally broken and our county wide burn bans, since August 1st, were dismissed yesterday.

We got just barely 3/4” of rain total for July and August but, almost 3” so far in September.

Have an excellent day!

Prayers to all.

Good morning! 73˚ and staying in the 80s, another chance of rain today, Litle rains over the past week have amounted to 5". Rain every day through Sunday. Wonderful!

Yesterday was a landmark day as I finished the 5 year Century Study Century Health Study – Home Page.
8 hour round trip drive to Houston's Medical center and 4 hours of test.
I was in the control group - no extra classes, education, test incentives or asked to stay on heart healthy plant based diet but did anyway. Not what they were expecting but glad to see me do it. My reward was evident buy the result of the PET scan and endurance on the treadmill. The Pet scan showed no progression of my heart disease. The disease has been stopped. My heart was all red and orange indicating good blood flow through all vessels in the heart.
They invited me to enlist in the "extended" study so I'm with them another five years.

Ed the diet works!! It is the silver bullet against heart disease.

We have 2 tributaries on our place and they flowed like crazy and then at peak rain periods, they were even higher. I just kept saying, I feel sorry for those downstream.....which was the big flooding of Lagrange Texas.
.

Oh my, those poor chickens at the chicken ranch.

Looks like Calabash is going to get battered, best seafood on the planet is served in the Little Mom and pop spots there. I hope that whole area survives.

56°F and spotty fog this morning, going up to 79° again today. Supposed to warm back into the 80s for the weekend.

Wife brought home a new rooster yesterday. He's pretty cocky (pun intended). She got it from a couple near Collinsville IL. The husband didn't have a problem with him, but the wife was scared of him, so they got rid of him. My Wife is intent on "retraining" him, and got a start already yesterday when he took a run at her and she knock him on his behind. This should be fun to watch develop. :popcorntub:

Looks like a great ride, RNG. Envious. Thanks for sharing the pics.

It's 44° for the low, yesterday was in the low 80's and partly cloudy. Today is going to be about the same with a 20-25 mph wind this afternoon. They still don't show any rain for the next ten days.

I just heard the neighbor shoot at the cows with a 22 with bird shot. He has complains about the cows being around the house for the seven years that he has been up here. But I have yet to seen him work on a old buck and pole fence that was on the property when he got the place.

I talked to a friend in NC last night and he doesn't seem to be too worried about the storm. But he lives north of Charlotte about 40 miles. I hope is is right, the rest of you that are in the path take care.

Hope everyone has good hump day.
CWB.

Good Morning. At 0945 it's sunny, 84F with 74% humidity. Forecast high/low of 91/73F with 50% chance of rain. 10 day high/low of 94/70F with only 3 days of possible rain. Our longest "dry spell" this summer has been 4 days, so some sunshine would be welcome.

Drew and everyone else in the path of the storm batten down the hatches. There are so many new folks in that neck of the woods, many of them have not gone through a storm like this one. Most injuries come during the cleanup, so stay on your toes, even in the days after the storm.

The contents of my backpack would be a good starting point for life without power. A battery bank, an alcohol stove, a water filter, instant coffee, lots of Ramon noodles and packs of tuna, etc, etc.

Stay safe everyone.

<snip>

Remember that when the power goes off it's very likely that cellular phones will stop working as well. <snip>
And for many of us if the power goes out the landline goes out!

They did away with copper in my neighborhood and it's all fiber. They did away with backup battery systems similar to a computer UPS and went to a container that holds about 20 D-Cell batteries as the ONLY thing authorised to be hooked to the phone system. The D-cell battery system only lasts 8 hours. So now we are effectively WORSE off than back in the 1980's when we could rely on the phone working during power outages

So now I rely on my Mobley hooked to DeWalt batteries.
