Weren’t you aware of your neighbors when you moved in? Just playing devils advocate, but it’s like the people that move next door to a hog farm then complain because it smells.

In Drews defense sometime you don't know that the stuff is junk till it dosen't move for 6 months and also realize the the junk sitting in the yard is not awaiting a trip to the landfill but that their yard is the landfill. The unpainted house with mold does not get cleaned in the spring and the yard and fence are never kept and you don't meet the neighbors until months after you have already moved.

But there are so many plusses when you do live in the country you tend to overlook the little things and just hope you don't get hit by a stray bullet during hunting season. I enjoyed it the county. Each community has it's flaws. The only thing I knew was a problem but thought it would get fixed, in the 20 years I had the place, were the roads that I paid taxes on every year. It was never blacktopped but all the surrounding newer roads were. 6" of red clay is hard to clean off vehicles.

On the mower -

Man, I am so very disappointed. Yes it sounds like fuel starvation. Very odd that it happens an hour into the mowing. I sat there and fiddled with the ignition switch, the gas cap and adjusting the choke. I'd find that sweet spot, then disengage the blades. It would slowly return to normal as I brought the choke back down. I even turned it off and on a few times with no issues, then immediately proceeded to mow for a few minutes until it started to act up again. Frustrated and hot, I returned to the house. Running, at speed without the blades engaged..

If it takes an hour of running before the symptoms, manifest, it's no wonder the dealer couldn't find the problem. No way they're gonna take that much time with it.

Next time it stalls, get your ear right up next to the fuel tank cap and listen for a woosh or hiss when you open it. If you hear one, the fuel tank vent is blocked.

If that's not it, heat build up could be the problem. Does it have an electronic ignition? The control module or rectifier could be getting hot enough to malfunction, or a connection somewhere is faulty and acting as a diode when hot. Get a can of spray freeze (I think it'd just carbon dioxide) at an electronics shop and shoot it at any suspect component to see if it fixes the problem.

Sounds to me like you've exhausted your options at the dealer, so maybe it's time to go over their head and try to find someone at Kubota at a higher level that can help. I bet there's a thread or two here on TBN where someone has done that and would tell you how they did it.

I always wondered why a lot of people in the country leave their old vehicles as yard decorations and never trade them in?

Because it costs money to have them towed to the junk yard, and they buy their replacement vehicles from an individual instead of a dealer that would take a junker as a trade.

That or they're working on accumulating a collection of Eastern Mountain Appalachian Roadside Modern Art. Hint: That's a David Wilcox reference...:laughing:

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

In town yesterday I picked up the parts I need to finish the exhaust system, bag mounts, and several other aspects of the old BMW, so it'll be a busy weekend working on that. I wasn't greeted very warmly at the mechanic's, who was trying to diagnose an electrical problem by telephone call with another customer that looked like it had interrupted work he was doing on someone else's engine. When he was done with the call I told him that the transmission problems on my Ford were getting worse and I was taking it in for service next week, and I wanted the van back NOW. He told me he didn't have time for that discussion now, and then said he needed help fixing a drive line vibration. I said let's do it right now and he walked away. So today I'll start being the squeaky wheel with texts and phone calls until he decides to work on it or I just go down there with the trailer and checkbook and take it away from him. And hope the truck makes it back up the hill...

RNG, you are a very patient person. I don't think I would be able to deal with the mechanic any longer. It seems you have been down this same path with him before. Good luck finding a resolution.

The low was 38° this morning, for some reason it feels colder. Today is going to be in the high 70's and sunny.

The subdivision is having it's HOA meeting this morning. I have been to the last 10 meetings. It's always the same, about a dozen people show up and complain about cows, roads, fences, gates and the bridge. Less then half the people in the subdivision pays their dues. The ones that don't go to the meeting or don't pay the dues are the ones that complain the most about the way things are. But try and get them to help do anything or pay their dues your S O L. There are only about six full time residents in the subdivision the rest are weekenders.

I think I'll go up and help a neighbor cut some fire wood after the meeting.

I grew up in northeastern NC, and my parents were from northern Alabama, so I know what he means. I was just calling attention to a situation that aggravates me, people moving to the country, then complaining because it’s like the country, then trying to make it like wherever they came from.

Hit 90 today. Currently 72 after a few isolated thunderstorms.

Went and picked up a lift today for the riding program. They have a lift in their arena but didn’t have one if at another venue. Now they have a portable one. Fits into a receiver hitch on pickups. Local welder did a really nice job on it. Lift is to sit wheelchair riders onto and off the horses.

Then came home and bush hogged till after dark. 2015 Kubota MX5200 hit 1,000 hours today.

Yesterday’s post. Fell asleep typing last night.

Today it’s 81. Been raining most of the morning.

Take care of birds and take wife to get shoes for kids. Maybe to Lowe’s for a few things.

If it drys off enough this afternoon maybe some more bush hogging.

David, I read here where a guy used a big excavator to run over a piece of bent metal, worked well; where's an excavator when you need one?

My original plan was to drive the tractor over it but the angle of the bend was too acute. Long end under the tire, Big crescent wrench and 6 ft pipe and I was able to get angle to point I could use the press. Only 40-50 pressings. Small adjustments, time consuming but I think effective. Had to be especially careful in beginning that piece didn’t slip due to angle.

In the coincidence department, Eric, the current issue of Home Shop Machinist has a small write up on a home made strap wrench for loosening over tight Albrecht chucks. It was made from a length of strip steel with a piece of 1" conduit welded to the end so the band would have something to wrap around. He used a ViceGrip type plier to hold the band tight.

Rip, have you tried what someone mentioned, loosening the fuel cap a bit? Your tank may be creating a vacuum and trying to pull the fuel back in.

Wngsprd, somebody has to beat Alabama and Clemson first!

Mine stalls if i dont loosen gas cap. When yours stalls, open cap and listen, you will hear if it has a vacuum.

Back in my lazy chair. Conduit is in place. Pulled 2 pieces of 12 gauge wire into circuit box. Sweat is pouring off me. Temperature is 82°. I do not know how others can work in temperatures in the 90’s.
