We are in between 2 large rain events, Randy getting the one to the east, another slightly west. I hope they miss me, i need to mow tonight.

Just like groundhog day, i awake to the same song on my phone, Red River. It used to be Tennessee River.

Here is a picture of the Ohio River entering the Mississippi River at Cairo, IL. Always wanted to see it, check that off the bucket list.

69 outside this AM. Heading to upper 70's. Rain moving in later today with off and on showers for the next few days. We do not need the water.
Yesterday was a bust. Road trip moving people around. Did manage to cut the grass when I finally got back.

Oh, was on the road stuck in traffic on I95. Tractor trailer lost wheels and part of an axle. Wheel set with axle part on one side of road, tractor and trailer on the other with a state cop.

That must have been really interesting to watch if you were behind that guy. Twilight Zone stuff. No other vehicles looked to be involved.
<snip>.
That's why I moved to be close to work. Back in '78 we lived in Occoquan, commuting from Kingman Bldg, Ft Belvoir on I95. 12 miles. One day going home to change clothes and go back north to the mall there was a traffic jam for about 4 miles. There was a tire on the guardrail in the middle of the road and a tow truck off on the side waiting to get it. No blockage, just people slowing to look. Going back north a half hour later the traffic was backed up to Springfield, about 10 miles, stop and creep. Probably 45 minutes to go 5 miles in the southbound lane, 5 minutes to travel the same distance in the northbound lane. That was 40 years ago, it's only gotten worse.

I estimate I saved at least hundreds of hours every year with my 1 mile commute.

Morning First sounds. A good topic for a Good morning thread.

What usually are the first sounds you hear when you wake up in the morning?

For me it is the JD utility maintenance vehicle on the golf course making his early morning sprinkler rounds (or whatever he does before sunrise).
Good topic
For me it's usually SWMBO's snoring followed by birds chirping.

Got to work this morning to find that someone over the weekend decided to add a drive-thru to our building. Apparently, a high-speed chase around 3am ended with the chasee crashing into one of our buildings. Not content with shooting bullets at us, now they're shooting cars at us. Never a dull moment in North St. Louis City.

First sound I hear in the morning is our competing alarm clocks, which buzz in stereo on either side of the bed. This is quickly followed by the scurrying around of three dogs and two cats, who now know we are supposed to be awake.
Pretty bad when your building becomes a drive thru.

73 degrees and I guess the NWS can say we got some rain. The airport, 10 miles from here, shows to have gotten about .06" but I think I'd be stretching things to say that my gauge got .01". So I watered around the foundation at least.

For all those with Air Fryers, or planning on getting one I got a letter from QVC today to see a safety video to reduce the risk of overheating and fire.

It applies to all Air Friers.

Cook's Essentials Air Fryer Instructional Safety Video - YouTube

By the way, the Cook Essentials QVC Air Frier is pretty tough. My wife tripped while carrying it and it fell on the hard wood floor, bounced and the inside tray went flying in one direction the rest of the fryer the other and it still works perfect.

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!

Lower humidity and AM temperature in the mid 50F's made for a good start to the morning. The humidity will start increasing tomorrow.

Spent the morning puttering around in the garden; spent the afternoon completing and scanning the rebate forms for the mini-split. If I am lucky I may get ~$1500 back. We'll see.

Buppies- Good luck with this week's surgery. I hope that the procedures go smoothly and with minimal pain.

RNG- I hope ups remain out of harm's way with the fires as well as any potential fires.

Drew- Good luck with the new car. I hope you have many uneventful miles.

Ed and Bird- I was never fond of roosters. Thanks for the stories. And Ed I hope the doctors treating your infection figure out what's going on with you.

"This will just be a longer recovery than I anticipated."- Ted I was lucky with my light duty with my torn ACL. I was not as fortunate when I shattered my ankle at work requiring 2 pins, 1 plate, 6 screws, and some wire. I was also in a physically demanding work environment with similar Disability and Employer BS. It's really hard to balance one's body's need to heal and meet work and personal expectations. I was my own worst enemy. "Venting" here is safe. Hang in there. I also wish your son and family safe travels and a successful "restart" in TN.

Randy- I love Gracie's picture. I prefer Brogen's snores to SWMBO's.

Don- Thanks for the video and sharing information about air fryers. It seems that many units have mechanical problems or problems with loss of teflon coatings.

Special + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for Ed, Ted, and Buppies. My usual + regards for the rest of you.

I hope everyone had a decent start to the week.

I tend to get up with the sun. If the windows are open Ravens squabbling over territory and Barred Owls advertising theirs in the predawn hours will get me going; but usually it is Brogen panting and drooling in my ear at bedsides is a definite day starter.

Wow! Everything may be OK and you may like and have good luck with that Worx, but I've never had anything even similar to that with my EGO.

I had a Worx string trimmer before the EGO model. One reason I went for the EGO was longer battery life between charging

Busy day today. Ran the paper work in and got some cantaloupe for the wife at the produce stand. Grabbed a few things at the grocery store and went to the bank. After breakfast we cut the boy's hair, he hates it and gave him a bath. Then I cut the wife's hair and we started lunch. Later I called and asked for my money back on the lathe and they said they can't. After a few words from me they said they would call back in an hour or two after they got the ok to refund my $$$. You already guessed it, no call. I hate dealing with dishonest people.

First thing I hear in the morning is my wife sleeping. The next is traffic.

Have a great night. Ed

I had an issue with a large reputable company years ago, they offered to refund my money based on used price, but I bought a new product that never worked (even after factory refurb and experts working on it). When I finally got refunded the full amount, I asked the guy, why did I have to be an a$$hole before they would do what was right. He replied, that is the way it works in business. I avoid the method, but have it for when I need it.
