Good morning!!!!

LS, I hope your knee gets better. I've had knee problems and they seem to take forever to heal. Not fun. I couldn't get into the back seat of most cars, because I had to extend my leg to keep my knee from getting stiff. Will work let you operate in a light duty capacity to avoid "lost time" claims? What city do you serve that you all have that many calls? That's a lot of calls.

Ron, give it a break, ehh? ;) (I'm sore in my whole body from the waist up, fighting that tractor tire mounting and unmounting.) I don't know if the Berrymans tire sealant is going to do the trick or not. If not, I'll have to tear it down, clean it out, bite the bullet and order the high dollar stuff. Oh well, good exercise.

Cooked rooster soup late last night. Used the good old pressure cooker to tenderize the meat. Wife is having trouble thinking about eating her pet. Our dog thinks it smells good. Will cook some rice this afternoon to add to it.

kind of feel just plain old "out of it".......Headed to work, to get my coffee.

Have a blessed day all.

Good morning! Day 14 of over 100 so I need to get outside as soon as I can see the ground.

Randy, an hour of mowing is a good deal. I did have one time in the country that the EGO battery was too hot to charge and I thought it was broke. But that only happen once and then it did charge after sitting for 30 minutes.

Morning First sounds. A good topic for a Good morning thread.

What usually are the first sounds you hear when you wake up in the morning?

For me it is the JD utility maintenance vehicle on the golf course making his early morning sprinkler rounds (or whatever he does before sunrise).

79 degrees this morning going for a high of 85 according to the NWS, with an 80% chance of rain coming down from the northwest. Right now the radar makes it appear that most will go east of us.:pullinghair:

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 4:30AM. Partly cloudy. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 97F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Just after I finished yesterday's post I learned there was another fire only two miles north of here that took two outbuildings but was quickly contained at only an acre. It's comforting to know that local firefighters are still on the job after so many of them have been sent over to the Carr Fire to help.

Then later in the day, this showed up on Facebook. The main marina on Lake Oroville is located next to the dam, about ten miles south of here. No word yet on how it started, but once it got going, there was no putting it out. Fortunately it didn't sink, as the water is several hundred feet deep there and it would have been a major operation to get it out.

It's against your professional training and your own nature to put yourself first, Ted, but that knee's not going to get better without your help. Saying "no" has got to be hard, especially in your line of work, but you've gotta do it. Either that, or start looking for a job in your field that isn't so physical but still uses your training. No, I'm not your mother, and I don't play one on TV either, but keep going the way you are and that knee will be screwed up for the rest of your life.

Every time I make chicken'n'rice soup, Kyle, the rice ends up soaking up all the broth and it ends up chicken ON rice. Especially with the leftovers.:confused2: Hope your soup turns out good enough to crow about!

Got the transmission shifter mechanism cleaned and polished up yesterday, and then set up the tooling to start measuring for bearing end float and shimming on the three shafts inside the case. Supposed to have 0.002"-0.004" of end float, and my measurements of the tooling tell me it has 0.0005" of variation and my measurement technique is probably no better than +-0.0005". Today I'll set up a spread sheet to calculate the needed shim thickness based on the measurements, and to help me understand which way the variances can go to help or hurt. This should be "interesting"...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Morning First sounds. A good topic for a Good morning thread.

What usually are the first sounds you hear when you wake up in the morning?

Some mornings, it's the hummers on the feeder hanging just outside the bedroom sliding door. Other mornings, it's the refrigerator coming on. It's kinda loud, especially with the great room/kitchen open architecture thing going on just outside the bedroom door. Then there's the mornings when I hear my neck creaking or my ears ringing, or the groans I make getting out of bed...

groans I make getting out of bed.

Usually a mockingbird squawking away in a nearby bush. Can't hear the coon hounds until I go outside. New windows in the house and my sitting back a ways
helps quiet the outside.

Spookiest thing is all the noise the kitchen fridge icemaker makes.
Those solenoid noises, kerthump, kawhack.

That giant floating home on fire sure must have left a nasty slick on the lake, pollution anyone?
I'm guessing one of three things, kitchen fire, electrical short, or gasoline fire in engine.
Not winter so it wasn't space heaters, which is usually the culprit.
Bad day boating for sure.

another half an inch of rain last night, and it's raining again. Definitely an inside morning.
Afternoon taken up at car dealership. Still getting info on any loan origination or early termination fees they
just might not have mentioned to me yet...
Might turn out better to get my own financing, Audi's is smoke and mirrors with high interest rates offset by first month's payment made and 1500 back.
What they don't tell you of course is if you keep the car until paid off, it costs you 1550 more dollars to do so with their higher rates.
and I bet if they tell me there are fees for the Audi loan, the whole thing will be a straight wash with my own financing, but they have to get there
with marketing nonsense that in the end doesn't represent any savings whatsoever to the consumer.
What is it about the Germans and not telling the truth? As an old VW TDI owner...and a guy with a German last name.

I am determined to get out of the dealership today and pay absolutely nothing extra beyond the car itself.
F&I guy just couldn't believe I was a no no no guy. Going to be a dry afternoon for him.

Take your checkbook with you, and be prepared to walk out. Then do it and see what the salesman does in response. I bet he comes running after you saying yes yes yes!

70 going to 79, and calling for heavy rain.

I agree that Slime is not the best way to fix a tire leak...used it on my old mower tires and didn't last long...haven't had to change a tire, but am sure there must be a mess inside based on the amount of slime I pumped in.

Good idea, Don...we usually keep the windows closed, so don't hear a lot of outside noises...but sometimes someone is running their fox or coon hounds back in the woods, which gets Coco barking, sometimes the train whistle and diesel roar from the tracks about 1.5 miles away, but most often it's our refrigerator, too. This morning it was rain falling on the roof, quite a pleasant sound in which to reenter the conscious world.

LS, glad your son found another job so quickly, in such a nice place. When you go visit, you'll probably want to move there.

RNG, while we were outside refilling the bird feeders, we smelled smoke, with an unusual plastic smell, and I got to thinking of you. On the way to town, we passed some folks burning trash or leaves, or brush (couldn't see) but the smoke was slowly moving straight out over the woods towards out house, about a mile away. I sure hope they get those fires put out.

The battery on my Echo trimmer has an economy and turbo setting, too, but uses only one battery. I've run it until it dies, and has only been warm, not hot. But I still let it cool before recharging...while I grab a water and recharge myself.

Did two tanks of backpack spraying yesterday...should have quit after one...I'm a hurtin' today.
