Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #77,401
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and howdy neighbor to RoyJackson especially.
I've been quiet on this thread for a while but still followed daily.
We bought a 10 acre farmhouse in Bennington Vermont and close in a couple of hours from now. So it's been a whirlwind of packing, loading, discarding, and tearful goodbyes and cheerful hellos for the last month!
Put Oklahoma house up for sale and it sold 12 days later. Everyone told me it would because of the work that had been done to it but it was a labor of love and hope to do it once more with this one.
Big Penske truck crammed full, and the Kubota on the back 1500 miles in the last three days. Course it rained.

I have to go back and get my pickup, tilt trailer full of implements but I'm going to wait a week or so. Then once more to get my boat. I'll do that during closing when the Oklahoma house is completed. I suspect fishing season is about over for this old boy this year. There's gutters to replace, trim to paint, lawn to mow, garden to dig, and,and,and...
So to all on this thread that I've been quietly eavesdropping upon, I'll probably start asking questions again real soon as the knowledge on here is unbelievable (sometimes really unbelievable!)

Lenny
(Now in Bennington, Vermont)

Welcome to Vermont! The land of high taxes and some serious fruit loops in Montpelier!

I'm about 90 miles north-northeast of Bennington.

So, what brings you to Vermont? Our winters as tough as OK...but we do have less Tornadoes!

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Not much cooling off last night outside as another Pacific high builds in from off the coast. Looks like it’s gonna be another long, hot summer.

Good luck with the big move, Lenny. Maybe you can find snowblowers on sale this time of year?

Hope the tests turn out OK, Ron.

Pulled a carb yesterday on the big dirt bike and found oil in the intake manifold, which must be coming from a crank case vent that connects into the airbox. There’s an in line flapper valve that had become contaminated with grit and may have been leaking vacuum, which could explain the excessive oil. More than likely, though, the rings haven’t sealed well because I didn’t hone the cylinders, but I’ll give it a few hundred miles more to make sure.

The warm temps put me in siesta mode yesterday afternoon, with a late, light lunch and a comfortably long nap. More of the same today.

Happy Hump Day gang!

Lenny, Oklahoma to Vermont now that’s a serious move but just in time to escape the summer heat.

Whipper gets chipped today.

Kyle the dish/tv antenna/ cb antenna can be on sides, back or roof. just not higher than 10’ above the peak of the house or in the front yard.

66 going to 88.

Jay, good to have you back.

Davis, really funny! I'll share with my wife when she gets up.

Should dry out enough to mow this afternoon when I get home from an early county meeting and the gym.

Worked on moi French drain yesterday. Had to redig about 5 wheelbarrow loads of mud/dirt/clay that had washed into the trench from the big downpour, then hand shoveled 2150 lbs of gravel around a 4 inch PVC pipe. 90% finished...still have some dirt/sod to replace and would like a bit more gravel to top off.

PJ, I looked up the Owl diner in ABQ...cool looking place and menu. Can't believe I didn't know about it when we were there several years ago.
When building my house, the dirt wall in front slid in before my drain was installed, i had to dig it all out by hand. What a pain. And fill all the gravel by hand, i didnt own a tractor then.

Randy, not sure Ellen's Mom has been checked for UTI. Cause quick changes in patients with dementia.

Yeah, I ran into that with my mom, so I asked about that right away, thanks for the heads up.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

I love these cool early AM 40F/mid 50F temperatures to get some stuff done before things start to "heat" up around her >70F  Some rain showers midday today, and then as Buppies posted the heat begins with the humidity to increase over the weekend.

I suspect one would see my picture hanging in some P.O. as a wanted criminal than see my picture on some milk carton as a missing person. If I ever do "disappear" I will be found somewhere in the Osa Peninsula in CR "where only the 'wanted' and 'unwanted' people go." Thanks for the re-welcoming. I have been basically restructuring my ("bad") well established habits with somewhat "better" (i.e. "healthier" habits) as to my activities, diet, and lifestyle choices which really threw off my normal schedule. It took some time to get back to quantifying my daily calorie intake and blood sugars as well as converting recipes and taking a lot of "bad" foods and ingredients out of my/our diet. This "FitBit" spots/tracking watch I bought is a mixed blessing. Now I am recording myself physically as well. I am not worrying about my mental status; I "wrote" my that off a couple of years ago.

I recently discovered that Bonehead Brogen will try to exit a moving Tundra rear window going after deer; he discovered yesterday that I can still tackle and wrestle an unruly #150+ dog who tries to do a "Nantucket Sleighride" while on leash.

"I'm sure everyone has seen a place that they say 'I'm glad I don't live next to that.'"- Don Luckily I have no neighbors to complain about the "condition" of this seemingly derelict property well hidden in the woods.

Randy- I hope that the doctors/nursing home staff quickly figure out what's happening to Ellen's Mom. Usually when there is a sudden change in mental status and/or behavior it can be attributed to something new happening like constipation, and sudden toxin build up in the body caused by infection or something new going on internally. I made a decent living assessing longterm facility residents and when necessary having them shipped out to some specialized geriatric/psychiatric treatment unit for further assessment and stabilization.

Dave- Thanks for the laugh. I almost lost bladder control..... almost?:embarrassed::eek: Thank you for sharing the Tundra battery information. I hope that you and Sophie remain safe.

Lenny- Welcome to the neighborhood. I hope that your move goes smoothly. We really like Bennington, VT. There are/were quite a few really nice restaurants in Bennington. We used to go there often when we had friends living in Rutland and I was sailing on Lake Bomoseen(sp?). It is a nicer, scaled back version of Northampton, MA with less entitled kooks and weirdos. I think most of the weirdos in VT live in/near Brattleboro, VT. I am convinced that old hippies go to Brattleboro to die; driven by instinct to their final destination like the salmon, shad, and eels swimming up the CT River. There's an old, decent psychiatric hospital there... a private institution.

Roy- Did you know that a lot of the famous yodelers in the world come from the Brattleboro area?

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all.

I hope the everyone has a decent and manageable humpday.

It's a little warmer this morning 44*, yesterday was nice except for the wind. Today is going to be a about the same but I'm hoping for less wind. It's going to be in the 80's and sunny.

I got the deck done, it only took about 5 hours. Ended up doing it with a brush. I'm glad that it was a small deck 8x10.

I might start painting the water shed today. The last time It took a couple of days to paint it. I'll have to see how the morning goes.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

63° and surprisingly muggy this morning, only going up to 88° today.

Wngsprd, before we left for that trip, I researched the entire route and made an extensive list of places we might stop along the way. We were figuring on being near Albuquerque for lunch on the second day, and The Owl Cafe was on the list of potential stops. We like to find neat places like that, and the food there turned out to be absolutely fantastic. We only ended up stopping at a small fraction of the places on the list, as we were more interested in getting to The Canyon. On the way back, however, we did stumble unexpectedly upon The Volkwagen Ranch outside Amarillo TX. We were just getting off the highway for a fresh coffee break, and there it was. That was a fun, unplanned surprise.

Welcome (back) to the conversation, Lenny. Congrats on the big move.

Today was a good morning, woke up without a pounding headache. I suffer a concussion Saturday night around 2300 after hunting hogs, I was putting my atv in the old barn and was looking down so my wifes ATVs lights were not shining in my eyes and I walked into a low beam at the door. Wam, hit it with the top of my head fell back and bounced my head off the barn floor. Thank goodness it is a dirt floor instead of concrete. I do not think I passed out but my wife says I was out for about 2-3 seconds. I got up and locked the barn and got a ride back to the house and that was it for me. My head was ringing my eyes were hurting by any lights and felt nauseous really bad. My wife got me in the truck put my sunglasses on my and we headed to town. She decided to drive the two hours back home to our hospital in Humble where I have been seen before. She talked to me the whole way keeping my awake and engaged so I did not fall asleep. We Got to the er, had a CT scan which showed no bleeding or fluid so I got sent home in the morning. I had a dr visit Monday afternoon and another CT scan since it was more than 24 hours and my head still hurt like a vice clamping down on it. So I have been resting with no driving, tv, phone or reading for the last few days and no work this week, with a follow up dr appointment on Monday. So waking up today with no headache is Fantastic!!!
This is my third concussion, one at sea in the Navy and one in a really bad mountain bike wreck which hospitalized me for a week. So Dr said I have got to be more careful on the future.

Glad you’re better, concussions are cumulative and can add up to real problems.
I got my worst one when I flipped my Donzi and landed in the mud with it partially on me. Had a couple more minor ones also. They affect my short term memory and my short term memory. LOL.

Was that cadillac ranch??

Similar concept, but different cars. It's at the intersection of I-40 and 207, right next to the exit ramp, just east of Amarillo.

68°F and .37 inches rain

Playing cleanup in my garage tool room. Actually discovered the work surface of my primary work bench - exciting. I definitely need more discipline putting things away.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
