Jay, I had activated our SAR team, which was enroute to your place. Glad you finally surfaced! Fantastic news on the physical changes...keep on doing what your doing.

With a radiant barrier, roof attic antennas are no good. Direct TV and the other cable provider are expensive and full of unwanted channels and hidden fees. I just want an over the air antenna. So I'll ditch the paid tv provider during it's 30 day trial period and go with an outdoor antenna. For movies I'll stream netflix or hulu like in the country. The only difference will be a faster internet at about $20 cheaper. The mom and pop tV store that I took my TV to be repaired will be out to evaluate my location for the type of antenna I need. They also said community association cannot disallow it's use as it protected under federal law. The community rules book also acknowledges this.

I didn't know this. Our homeowners association rulebook stated something like "Can't have an antenna in plain view from street." I had to place my directv dish near the back corner, and then point it south towards the street.

I'm split between the rules and not having them...They benefited and cost me when I lived under them. Ying and Yang.

You shouldn't need much antenna to get Austin/Temple Belton Killeen Waco. Think omnidirectional would be best if it has the reach since the channels are opposite directions. Rabbit ears might suffice.

68 and rain currently. Low 90’s for high.

Finished setup and got most of the feed packed. Well the two teenagers I had working did the heavy lifting. My regular 16 year old helper was trying his hardest to impress(but didn’t) after being out worked and witted by wife’s 14 year old nephew. Regular guy had never even weedeated until he started with me. Patience I know patience. Breathe. Breathe.

Curtain installers showed up over a week late. Tear down went fast. Then new salesman figured out half of curtains were wrong. His boss had made a mistake before he started. Think we have a solution worked out but will have to talk with Flock supervisors tomorrow and make sure they are good with it. Otherwise there will be deductions from installation prices if birds are delayed. Replacements were fast tracked and should be here Tuesday. Breathe. Breathe.

Don. The ugly bad neighbors place isn’t next door. Its every place across the street. Some are decent folks and good neighbors but they don’t keep their places maintained. Neither does their landlords though.

Good morning. Raining again. Gotta be the wettest spring on record.

Don, I don't think I could remember and quote the rules. But it's not really any specific rule; it's just that when I pay for property, I like to be as free as possible to do as I please. No matter where you live, there will always be some rules, but . . . .

Before we bought our current home, we looked at two NEW homes and would definitely have bought either of them, if I hadn't learned that they each had a "Homeowner's Association" that had a wide variety of rules; no separate storage building, couldn't paint your house without prior approval of the homeowners association, no change in fencing, no widening or otherwise modifying your driveway. no change to the lawn or landscaping without prior approval, and on and on with the rules. Maybe such rules are good, but they can all change with a vote by the elected board, so you really don't know what the rules may be next week.

Now I don't blame anyone else for buying into such places, but it's not for me.

I agree 100%

66 going to 88.

Jay, good to have you back.

Davis, really funny! I'll share with my wife when she gets up.

Should dry out enough to mow this afternoon when I get home from an early county meeting and the gym.

Worked on moi French drain yesterday. Had to redig about 5 wheelbarrow loads of mud/dirt/clay that had washed into the trench from the big downpour, then hand shoveled 2150 lbs of gravel around a 4 inch PVC pipe. 90% finished...still have some dirt/sod to replace and would like a bit more gravel to top off.

PJ, I looked up the Owl diner in ABQ...cool looking place and menu. Can't believe I didn't know about it when we were there several years ago.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and howdy neighbor to RoyJackson especially.
I've been quiet on this thread for a while but still followed daily.
We bought a 10 acre farmhouse in Bennington Vermont and close in a couple of hours from now. So it's been a whirlwind of packing, loading, discarding, and tearful goodbyes and cheerful hellos for the last month!
Put Oklahoma house up for sale and it sold 12 days later. Everyone told me it would because of the work that had been done to it but it was a labor of love and hope to do it once more with this one.
Big Penske truck crammed full, and the Kubota on the back 1500 miles in the last three days. Course it rained.

I have to go back and get my pickup, tilt trailer full of implements but I'm going to wait a week or so. Then once more to get my boat. I'll do that during closing when the Oklahoma house is completed. I suspect fishing season is about over for this old boy this year. There's gutters to replace, trim to paint, lawn to mow, garden to dig, and,and,and...
So to all on this thread that I've been quietly eavesdropping upon, I'll probably start asking questions again real soon as the knowledge on here is unbelievable (sometimes really unbelievable!)
