Someone needs to make you a Potato King crown.

Hmmm. Maybe PJ's wife needs to work on this creation:
white potatoes
white fingerlings
red potatoes
dark blue potatoes

now what colors does that remind you of?
gosh what a Fourth of July decoration that could make :dance1:

assuming I had any artistic ability...anyone want to design a patriotic potato flag?

For when spud sales are flagging ? :)

A few years ago they were trying to promote alternative uses for potatoes with your idea Drew, although the voice over in this video doesn't quite come off and it's not until the very end that you get a glimpse of a patriotic display of red, white and blue.

An unexpected light shower is just passing over. For the past week my left foot has been getting damp walking through wet grass as my wellie boots have worn through at the toes, however I've gone and treated myself to a new pair. Both the old and this new pair were made in France by a company called "Le Chameau". It is one of those occasions when paying more for top quality really does seem to have paid off as they have been been exceptionally comfortable and have withstood being worn on most days of the week for the last 4 years.

Of course being a cheapskate at heart, I will still be repairing the old ones , only strange thing is that everywhere that sells the best repair glue are out of stock. All the fishermen must have been be patching up their waders - or getting high on the solvent.

Cajun, Creme Brulee air con - that's cool !

After a week of low 70s and low humidity it’s back to normal today, still not bad.

Ed, BEF and Don, you all had good days for very different reasons!

I mowed here yesterday, trying to pass Ellen’s grass off to the 30 year old son and his gf that are moving in there soon.
Ellen has been here a little over two weeks and from the looks of the walk in closet she is not planning on leaving soon. The dog now calls me daddy! LOL.

Eric, thank you, fascinating and creative 8 minutes on where the potatoes with green spots go.
A bit longer trip than I think my taters can make...:D

yesterday's dig in my elevated garden started off with a great big Yukon Gold. And then small ones, and I stopped. Tried the dark blue
potatoes; nope, they were the size of eggs. Tried the Fingerlings, the lighter colored ones, just three little ones.
Figured I was just too soon, put the whites and blues back to bed for two more weeks.

Pulled 13 Texas Sweets, put one in the fridge for me. Neighbor told me they were ready when tops fell over. ??
Almost all mine had fallen over and still seemed to still grow so this may be a clash
of wive's tales, or maybe wisdom from another region.

Garden Club luncheon today with the Ladies and then dinner out with a friend.
Not a day to get dirty.
But tomorrow will come.

Cooler morning, 60 out, very nice, thunderstorms mid day possible.
Hope you all have a good day

Trimmed pine trees along side road and move all the branches to the need to chip pile. Back to neighbors place to do a final rototiller, leveling and raking before planting grass.

Good news from several people. Wishes for the good news to continue.

71 degrees this morning going for a high of 94. Interesting weather yesterday. "Severe" thunderstorm came from the north, moving south; backwards from what we normally experience. We had high winds, although I didn't see any damage in my immediate neighborhood. In fact, I was quite surprised to not see any broken tree limbs. We had lots of thunder and lightning, and with one particularly bright and loud clap of thunder, the lights went off at 5:20 p.m. We had a pretty heavy rain for a short time that put about .30" of rain in my gauge. After a little more than an hour, I called TXU Energy to report the power outage. Their automated system said it was expected to be restored by 8 p.m. About 8:15 p.m. I called again and the automated system said power was expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Sure enough, the lights came back on at 10 minutes before 10 p.m. Thank goodness the rain and clouds kept it from getting too hot in the house during the power outage.

My hometown is home to the GM Proving Grounds. Some memories from 1966.

Are you talking about Milford, MI, just south of Flint? I believe it was about 1984 when I visited the GM Proving Grounds there; very interesting place. Fleet management was part of my job at the time and I had gone to the annual fleet managers meeting in Flint, then we went on a bus for a tour of the proving grounds. I remember there was a vehicle up on a lift that I'd never seen and when someone asked about it, our guide said he couldn't talk about that one. I think it hit the market the following year and was called an Astro Van.

And who, our age, doesn't remember Joie Chitwood?

Decided today was a good day to install the new battery in the Tundra.
Took old one out, cleaned up everything, even wirebrushed and painted the nuts and rust spotted holder. Put new battery in. OOPS, terminals opposite. Not a problem, just turn battery around. Now a problem. Cables too short. Neg cable actually long enough, just need to loosen and adjust the angle. POS terminal, short by inches. Makes me curious how one knows, I thought buying a 27 battery meant it was a drop in replacement for the original 27 battery. Luckily I had a short, heavy duty extension suitable for the task. Wonder if the dealership will notice next service call?
There are usually 2 version a 27 and a 27F back in the day we always called the "F" the Ford version and the post were swapped was the only difference.
