I lived in or mostly near town from the time I was 19 until I was 59, they will have to drag me feet first from here.

I thought the same thing when we bought 10 acres 20 miles from town (only 10 miles from a tiny little town with no stores, doctors, etc.), but . . . . what was the saying about the best laid plans of mice and men? We just never know what the future holds.

I moved into the country 45 years ago. It still looks like country. But stores, hospitals and other commercial business have moved as close as 2 miles away. Like Randy they will have to take me out of here feet first.

I’m five miles from my doctor, hospital and major stores, but I’m in the country. My daughter, SIL and grandson live 3 miles away, something’s can and will change, but I will not voluntarily leave here.

I feel the same way, Randy, but realize that at some point I'll no longer be able to care for myself, let alone keep up with the maintenance here. It'll be a heart breaking process, but I'll probably end up in some forsaken old folks home. Hopefully my end will come soon after; I've seen enough of those places already taking care of parents, etc. Maybe I'll just wander off into the woods instead and save everybody the trouble of dealing with a cantankerous old man that misses the heaven he still loves...

57°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 87° today.

Wife got the border collie statue painted yesterday to look like the oldest one, Evey. She pretty much nailed it. She's always had a passion for art, and still surprises me with how good she is.



Set a few mole traps last night, as the solar powered vibrating thingies don't seem to be bothering them much anymore. Trying some of the newer ones with a scissor action instead of spikes. Definitely much easier to set.

I asked her last night if Evey had seen it yet (she has not). Not many dogs get their own statue, much less while still panting. :laughing:
