Irv, it is a WII round ram Bridgeport. 12X36”. I need to take a picture.

Drew, it may be a rain out. Raining hard with .5” already.

Roy and Buckeye. Our bodies are all different in many ways. Including how they react to meds. My doctor neighbor has been having back problems. I told him how my back has completely stopped hurting since getting off beta blockers Turns out he is also on them. He says side effects don’t list back problems. I told him they do list muscle pain. Even doctors have a problem with how we react to meds.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 94F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Too early to be this warm; it’s gonna be a scorcher this afternoon. Got more spraying to do this morning, then I think I’ll try to find something to do inside for the rest of the day. Might even have to fire up the AC for the first time this year.

Startled a doe and her fawn on the way to get the mail yesterday morning. The doe took off and the fawn went down like a pile of bricks and just laid there in the open. Apparently that’s their instinct, and when I came back down the hill they were both off grazing again. Fired up the Kubota RTV and started spraying weeds by the pump house, and as I stepped up to a sage plant, that little devil of a fawn came bursting out of the bush right at me! Almost had a heart attack, but from the looks of its wobbly attempts at running, it was the one with the bigger startle. Then later, the two bucks that like to hang out around the box trailer were back, and just stood there looking at me when I tried to shoo them away. One of ‘em’s gonna have quite the rack this year, but I know if I get a deer tag they’ll disappear the week before the season opens.

The Lagun here has an R8 spindle, but I’m not sure how I picked up my set of collets. Prolly another Craig’s List find. I do remember I purchased the boring head new from a SF Bay Area tooling supplier. I remember it cost several hundred bux, but I had a project I needed it for that nearly paid for it. And that’s how most of my tools came to be here: Their cost was offset by not having to pay someone else to do something that needed done. Most of this was happening in ‘08 and ‘09 when a lot of businesses that use machine tools were going bust in the Bay Area. You name it, it was there on Craig’s List for pennies on the dollar. Like a lot of us, I’d taken wood and metal shop all through junior and senior high school, and always missed having the wherewithall to make and fix like I had back then. I still have the hammer heads, screwdrivers, and chisels I made in those shops. It’s a crying shame that the youth of today have been robbed of that kind of education. I think that’s a big part of why we have a “throw it away” society now, and post people only know how to buy stuff instead of make it themselves.

I picked up a rotary table for the mill as well, smaller than yours, and mounted an eight inch three jaw chuck to it. Very easy to set up, and great for milling flats on shafts or turning rounds on odd shapes, or ???

Is that a Wellsaw bandsaw I see over in back of the mill? I have one that has the same red cover over the belt drive, and it's been a great saw for years!

The cutoff saw is a Milwaukee Pneumatic. Made in Taiwan. Got it out of a catalog. I think from Northern Hydraulic before they became Northern Tool. To the right of saw with shop apron hanging on it is a WWII Grob Brothers 14” metal band saw. Had to make a new top bearing/wheel mount for it on Bridgeport. They have no info for it. Many parts are similar to a Delta. Makes me wonder who copied who. They are still in business.

Good morning to all! Woke up to a cloudy sky, looked like it was going to pour. Of course, it didn't and just went on by. Then heavy overcast. Temp was nice at 52, going up to 76, forecasted to be around noon, then cooler temps in the afternoon. Weather guessers say rain showers/storms late in the afternoon. I'll take it.

Got all the fencing project done (cutting it lower), next weekend maybe put the cut sections up on the other property line if the weather permits...extended forecast shows temps in the upper 90's next week. Today is making dog food day. Not hard, just time consuming. They sure eat well... Then maybe some shop time. I have to cut a small section / notch out of a backhoe thumb that is interfering with a bracket. It's 1/2" thick steel, but hopefully some of the soft China stuff....

Drew, awesome 'tater harvest. Can't believe you got that many out of just 3 rows! That will help feed a lot of people!:thumbsup:

To everyone on BP meds: maybe ask your Doc's to "split the dosage" and take it two times a day. Had dizziness and fatigue taking mine just once a day. Split it in half, take it at 7 and 7. Works better for me that way. Everyone is different and so are meds, so ask just to be sure if it will work for you.

Well, it's been 3 1/2 months dealing with the knee... Staying at home... It will be very strange returning to light duty at work tomorrow....

Thomas, glad your able to get by with the well situation, hopefully repaired soon!

RNG, the wildlife must really like how you keep your place....5* rating B&B:D

The wildfire near my son's place seemed to calm a little, they got a reprieve with cooler temps, higher humidity, and low wind. They hope to start getting containment today. The fire in NM blew up to 27000 acres as of last night...still no word on control of that one.

Everyone have a great Sunday, prayers out to those in need.

Main task of the day is to finish up assembling that grill I wrote about yesterday...

Well, after a couple hours assembly, I found the tabs that hold the grill to the base were either bent wrong (before welding) or the holes in the grill upper assembly were mislocated. No way to continue assembly and it's going back to Amazon for a refund.
Now, I have to disassemble everything and re-box it. Most of the packaging material (lightweight Styrofoam) was damaged during removal...so the parts will just be packaged as best I can.
