20 with a high of 34, wind SSW 15 mph. Snow in the forecast slated to start at about 11 A.M. and go to 11 P.M.
We got about 1" overnight. The tractor is plugged in and I will go out about 5 P.M. MAYBE to do the people I plow for and leave mine until morning.

Our local (only) grocery store is closing. Seems head office and the owner of the building were having a pissing contest about the rent on the building and the parent office said screw you and closed the store. Well, the 'screw you' just screwed all the people in town that don't drive for whatever reasons. Now they will have to go 5 miles south to Sundridge to get their groceries. 5 miles isn't that big of a deal to people that drive, but the non drivers are certainly going to feel it.

The only good thing to come out of it was the 40% off everything in the store sale, $520.oo worth of goodies in the cart and paid out $342.oo I managed to 'stock up' on some stuff that we use on a regular basis. I am going back today to see if there is anything left.
After that it is down to Sundridge to the butchers, D-I-L really likes the butchers sausage, but she says his Sons' sausage is too salty.
A trip to the hardware store is in order too. I need a bunch of angle brackets and some 10-32 machine screws and nuts.

Happy Friday, all

Good morning all.

About 45 with the weather people in a tizzy about a possible snow storm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, last night I walked around the farm taking pictures of my flowering fruit trees and anything else that was blooming. A healthy diversion, except when I got to the far back fields. That wind storm a while back did a lot of tree damage. I have managed to cut up about 1/2 of the ten cedars I lost. But I have burn pile duties for the rest. I walked quickly past those still waiting for work. Sigh.

Today, I need to hop on my equipment-less (LOL) shed and fix (nail/screw) about six metal panels back in place. Mother nature laughed at us when that storm came through. She just flipped the panels over on each other like opening a sardine can. Instant skylights. My cow shed in the back forty fared much worse. The nails stayed in place while the roll effect on the panels happened. It's a loafer shed, since I don't loaf and don't have cows anymore, I just might take the metal to the scrap yard and burn the rest. It would open up the views really nice.

I hope all have a safe and productive weekend. Hoping the weather will stay on the warm side now. It's good to be outside.

66 degrees for a low today going for a forecast high of 79. And I noticed the first of the catkins yesterday from the live oak tree in the front yard. I think live oak trees would be great in the pasture for shade for your livestock, but I'd never recommend having one within a hundred yards of your house, especially if you have rain gutters that they can clog up.

Good morning all, 36 now going to 66 and partly sunny, 90% chance of rain/sleet later tonight. Got a Dr appointment this afternoon, just a new patient thing. No other plans.

RNG around here we don't talk about BM's. We use the word my mother in law used, tinky. :)

RIP, I remember those days when I walked around and the equipment and the cattle were gone, prayers sent for that too. Good things will come again, just wait and see.

LS, prayers sent for your healing and wisdom in what to do/not do.

Have a great day. Ed

33 going to 71 and windy. Snow and sleet tomorrow.

rip, glad to hear from you, but sorry to hear things have been so rough.

LS, good that your surgery is over...now be a good boy and don't overdo it.

BEF, happy anniversary to you and your bride. I drove through Rexburg a few years back...don't remember the town, but do remember the several different thundersnow storms amid otherwise blue skies that I drove through.

Ed, hope that farmer plants something that the deer like to eat so you can continue seeing them.

Steve, beautiful to see eagles on the beach...thanks for sharing.

Good tractor seat time yesterday...Bush hogged the last couple of acres needing it yesterday...the hawks and vultures were very interested, but best I could tell, I didn't run anything out for the hawks, or kill anything for the buzzards...just exposed a few insects that the bluebirds went after. Took the cutter off and put the tiller back on so I could maneuver into the yard and do a couple of chores for my wife. Then drove back into the woods and cut up a fallen pine to move the logs.

Not sure what's up today...long list to choose from...do need to pick up some filters and do maintenance on the tractor.

Hope everyone had a great day.
The population sure is growing we saw 12 all in about a 1 block area yesterday all waiting their turn to eat!!

It's warmer this morning 36*, it looks like we got a rain / snow mix overnight. They are saying a 50% chance of rain today with the high in the low 50's and 15-20 mph wind. They are calling for 90% chance of rain and snow over the weekend.

I have a old harbor freight flux core welder the that needs some TLC. Going to see if I can get it working good and gave it a way.

Hope everyone one gets a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

40°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 49° today. Looks like the promised 2-4" of snow from yesterday's forecast has become 0" of snow, as the weather seems to be going around us. Here in the St. Louis area, we call that "The Arch Effect." :confused3: They've also removed the snow predicted for Sunday. I'm OK with this.

Wife and I went to the grocery store last night. I was going to run to Walmart to pick up a couple of things, and she wanted to hand me the grocery list as well. I suggested she go with me, so she did. It's been months since we've gone to the store together ... a fact not lost on either of us while we were there.

Apparently, others were troubled by the threat of another impending April Snowmageddon, as we both had a good laugh when we walked into the bread isle.

Good morning everyone.

A mostly cloudy mid20F morning and the clouds are increasing. I am awaiting the 1" - 3" of snow this PM that will change over to rain later tonight. I agree with Buppies - changing weather dynamics in the Pacific will finally bring on Spring around here.

Considering the age group here it is only natural for topics of medical condition(s), number of and types of pills and specialist "counts", and all kinds of information sharing about BM's and BM'ing to "occasionally" become a topic:rolleyes::cool: Like Drew, I am a firm believer in the magical powers of prunes.

Steve- Thanks for the eagle pictures. The eagles around here congregate along the CT River to scavenge the dead/dying shad, eels, etc. that migrate upriver to spawn this time of year. And the Quabbin Reservoir nearby has plenty of "buffet" items frozen into the ice. Awesome good eats for scavengers.

Randy- Great job with the pork chops. They are easy to cook; but really difficult to cook well. I only cook boneless loin pork chops that I/are cut from the loin roast and then brine before I stuff them. It reads like you and Ellen's comfort level is increasing. Congratulations and good luck with developments.

I agree with David about the need for strong advocacy when dealing with any representative of the health/medical care and insurance industries. I have few "good" memories.

PJS- The weather hysteria prior to these over-hyped weather events amazes me. This time of year any accumulating snow melts pretty quickly. We have had several 20" snowstorms around here in April and one in may in the 40 years we have lived around here. The frenzied food hoarding exhibited in grocery stores prior to these "snow events" is to be avoided. The way people act prior to snowstorms is a sad predictor about what will happen if something really serious happens (again).

The solar panel contractor technical people showed up unexpectedly this AM. I have been experiencing power fluctuations including shutoffs during what should be peak production conditions. I've been trying to determine a pattern to report. My production is monitored. They figured it out before I. They are replacing the inverter. If it's not a defective inverter it's a problem with the power company's transformer. My dairyman neighbor is renting out his fields for an installation. I believe that his installation will be 100X larger than ours. I already know the electric company has to install "another pole" to accommodate his anticipated electricity production by an "abutter's notice." I bet they need to upgrade transformers and lines as well. We'll see.

The good news is that Brogan although curious and wanting to meet the techo is handling their presence. No introductions with them; but with two of our friends later today. I/We have no clue as to his "sociability," and his jewels need removed ;)

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all. We are all on this strange trip together. I feel and think better due in part to the relationships here.

I hope that everyone has a decent day today.
