I prefer scotch too Bird. A twelve year Glenfiddich for me, diluted with nothing but an about equal measure of good water.

Yep, Eric, it's been awhile since I had any Glenfiddich (or any other scotch), but that's hard to beat.

14 with a high of 27. Wind W 16 mph. 30% chance of flurries. That will be on top of the 2" we got last night.

I wont bother to plow that.

I got most of the stuff I need for the camera install (still need a staple gun) and the new portable shelter as well as burying my sump pump line. $1069.70

IF I drink anything alcoholic, it is a wee taste of the Dram. Summertime beer doesn't count.

Happy Easter/Passover all

Happy Easter to all!!
April Fool's day, to all those who it fits (that includes me sometimes)

Low 40's right now...and it's going to cool off as the day progresses.
I've got to look over a 200 question customer survey for one of our sister facilities (plant in CT). That's enough to keep me busy for the day. This is definitely going to interfere with my beer time!
During any breaks, I need to finish cleaning out the ice-melt spreader and was it down.

Unlike Thomas, I do need to get a little seat time...between the township plow truck (along the road) and me (on the drive), the lawn has been torn up a bit. With the ground being pretty soft, a couple passes over the torn up areas should flatten them out enough to mow when the time comes. If I can get to that today, great...if not...I think I still have a couple weeks...

Buckeyefarmer hope you feel better soon

Thomas glad you are healing slow and easy is your motto

Nice motor cycle RNG

I thought RNG would report today that the van is finished.....

Happy Easter ALL!

Drew, "reflection" is a good word for the day. A good song for perspective for me is "It is well with my soul" By Horatio Spafford, who penned the song after losing his 4 daughters in a transatlantic ship wreck catastrophe. (He had already lost his son 2 years earlier to scarlet fever).
Horatio Spafford - Wikipedia

Here is a nice version by Dave's Highway when they were quite young. It brings a tear to my eyes.

RNG, beautiful Bike. The color is a great choice. Gives it some "pop".

Take care all and have a blessed Easter.

Good Morning!!!! 54 @ 6:45AM. Sunny. High 72F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather, Buckeye. Oh, and thanks for the reminder. When I got home last night there was voicemail from the mechanic telling to come pick up the van Monday. It's all done!!!!

Wandering through one of the big booze warehouse stores like Total Wine or Beverages and More, I'm amazed to find so MANY different kinds of Scotch and Bourbon/whiskey. And you know what? None of them taste the same! Couple that with the fact that no two of us will perceive those tastes in exactly the same way, and we're left with a rich opportunity for colorful discussion and information exchange. Now that's the kind of research I like, but I'm running out of cabinet space in the kitchen.

Glad you're mostly over your bumps, Thomas. None of us heals as fast as we used to.:(

The 2500 gallon water tank had coliform contamination when I bought this place, David, and we used the bleach treatment you described to clear it up. Haven't done it since, and you have me wondering if I shouldn't be shocking it regularly?

Fantastic news on the Saint Bernards, Jay:cool2: Sounds like you two will be in doggie booger heaven before you know it. Do you think you'll stick with their given names, or if you decide otherwise, is it too late to change now?

I've had to patch up pallets for storing the firewood, Kyle, usually by taking apart ones that were in bad shape. The wood seems brittle and splits easily, and whatever kind of nails they use sure don't want to come back out! No doubt easier and quicker to drag home a chicken coop from Tractor Supply :), but think of all the memories you'll be making with your kids and the stories they'll tell their kids about how grandpa made that chicken coop from a bunch of old pallets!

Piloon, L4N, sorry about your late snow, but there's a reason Canada did so well in the Winter Olympics...

There's a grocery chain out this way called Safeway, Ed, and they offer a similar gasoline discount program. But they also are very proud of their offerings, and you pay for the gasoline with jacked up prices for the lettuce and cookies. But if you swipe your membership card in the checkout line, often it'll turn up discounts on the groceries as well. I guess that could be fun if you want to play those kind of games, so you should be proud of payoff at the gasoline pumps!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Oh, and about the van...

Frank Sinatra made it popular in his time, it being his beverage of choice. I have to cut it with just a splash of water when I drink it neat, but Gentleman Jack is my go to served neat. If you get a chance, give it a try, as it's smoother so the flavors are more pronounced.:licking:

RNG the Gentleman Jack is also excellent, I’ve a bottle in the bar. My regular after dinner beverage is Jack, ice and a splash of club soda.

FWIW, I’ve been a Tennessee Squire since 1975.

Good morning to all, HAPPY EASTER, PASSOVER, or any other celebrations this weekend. Hope everyone enjoys the time spent with family and friends.

Low of 45 this morning, going to 68. Light winds at 15-20 mph. Going up into the low 70's next couple of days, but going to get windy. I'm counting the days before surgery...3 more to go...maybe relief then:p

Ed, glad to hear the service for your Mom went well. Apparently she touched a lot of people's lives. Cherish your memories.

Wngsprd, hope the toothache has calmed down a bit, hopefully the dentist will get you fixed up pronto!

Eric, prayers for better weather for you and the lambs, hopefully this week.

Buppies, "looking at jobs around the house"...you should describe it more like "going around the house preparing for jobs" ... This way your covered when asked why it's taken so long:laughing::D

RNG, I sure hope the mechanic stepped up and really finished it, you have been a very patient gentleman customer. The bike is looking good! You did a fantastic job doing the resto.

David, sounds like a big chore out of the way, lot of work going back and forth, plus time consuming. How often do you clean / sterilize the system?

BEF, hope you get over the cough.. Maybe allergies? Don't let it get too bad.

Jay, CONGRATULATIONS! Long time coming to get some StB's. The pics look good, hope the logistics aren't too difficult. Keep us posted and good luck.

For anyone I forgot about, my prayers and thoughts are out to you this morning. Hope everyone stays healthy, safe, and most of all, out of trouble (that time of year when everyone wants to get outside and do something...usually without thinking about it first):confused2::eek:

Good morning everyone and I wish you all a Happy Easter and/or Passover as observed.

I think/feel "reflection" is a good way to spend some time doing today. Actually it should occur every day.

I've run the spectrum of boozes as my taste buds change. Now I am basically a vodka (martini) drinker with "occasional sips" of rum or tequila. Due to my weight I drink light beers; strictly for "hydration" purposes.;)

We are still working out the dog logistics. It was decided that we let "Brogen" adjust here with us prior to introducing him to another dog. This :censored: weather system that has tracked across the CONUS will be impacting midAtlantic states and SE NE tonight/tomorrow. It amazes me how different CONUS regions react to snow. It looks like the dog adoption will be tomorrow in the PM. We have always kept the dogs that we adopt their given names + a few add ons like "bone head," "super pooper," etc.

BEF- I hope you feel better soon.

Eric- I hope your weather improves for your lambs.

Thomas- I am happy to read that you are gimping around better. I hope you start walking "normally" soon.

RNG- Nice motorcycle.

Randy- I hope the social activities continue with you and Ellen.

LS- Good luck with the knee Wednesday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all today

My sipping beverage of choice is a quality Tequila, currently Casa Dragones Blanco a very smooth sipper not something to toss down shots and not enjoy.
wish all a Happy and safe Easter.

My regular after dinner beverage is Jack, ice and a splash of club soda.

Club soda! Now there's something I've never found a use for. Of course I'd heard of scotch and soda, so the weekend after Labor Day, 1969, my wife and I drove out to Carlsbad Caverns. When we arrived in White City, we checked into the motel, then walked across the road to the White Buffalo Saloon. I ordered a scotch and soda, took one taste, and told the bartender to throw it away and bring me a scotch and water.

I'll drink scotch on occasion...always just preferred a couple ice cubes rather than water...
Scotch is a good mix with a good quality cigar....

With the upcoming surgery on Wednesday, all this talk about liquor has made me think of an alternative plan if they don't give me any pain killers...(you know...there's a prescription pain killer abuse epidemic going on). I ussually don't drink at all except maybe on a special occasion, so even 1 shot will probably help considerably. My plan will be to just sample all the scotch, whiskey, bourbon, vodka, and rum in the closet (most of it is at least 20 years old...hope it's still good):licking::p

   / Good morning!!!! #73,776
LS- Good luck on Wednesday. I can not take NSAID's. Two bone dry martini's are part of my "pain management" plan.

Seltzer water is an "acquired taste." I like it. It mixes well. :) I think it really changes the taste of scotch especially the "good stuff." :(

67°F and no rain. Sun shining.

Happy Easter
Special prayers for those in need.

No Ham class today. Rescheduled to next Sat by consensus. I have been doing the practice exams, both the ARRL site and the IOS app.

Doing our Easter ham on the Primo today.

Be safe
Have a great day

Nice looking dogs, Jay. Thanks

David- I have been doing the practice exams in the training manual. That ARRL site is awesome. Good luck with the examination when you take it. I hope Sophie is having a good day as well. Dinner reads to be "good eats." Not the typical Easter dinner here. Tonight I am cooking a corned beef in my pressure cooker. Wifey is not that fond of ham, and we eat a lot of lamb in the Big Green Egg grill.

I spoke with the "foster parent" of Leah today. She was 50 pounds when she was rescued from Puerto Rico; now she is 140. She is an emotionally "shut down" under-socialized dog who was in a horribly emotional abusive home environment. I/We rescued a very large German Shepherd with a similar background. It was recommended by the "experts" that she be "put down"....... some "experts"..... One of the best dogs we ever had.:(
