Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 56F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.

Showers in the morning and again around noon dropped 0.39" of rain yesterday, the most we've had all month. It's a good start for another set of storms that'll start tomorrow, ushered in by a Winter Weather Watch. They're talking feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains, a very good thing because they're down around 20% of average right now and account for 2/3 of the water storage in the state. Things are rapidly sliding toward drought conditions again and this next series of storms could make a real difference. That said, I have an appointment in town Thursday I think I'll reschedule so I won't have to be out in it.

Every year, Warren Buffett sends a letter out to shareholders of his Berkshire Hathaway company explaining what went on for that year. And every year Mr. Buffett has given a lengthy interview to the Squawk On The Street news crew. I enjoyed listening to snippets of it this morning during another bout of insomnia, and found some very good financial advice along with some good insights into the country's current financial climate. Buffett also talked a bit about the new venture he's started to reduce the cost of healthcare, not so much of what or how but when (very long term). An interesting listen if you have the time:

Here are Cramer'''s top 4 takeaways from Warren Buffett'''s 3-hour interview

Hope you get over this crud quickly, Farmer, but don't mess around if it gets worse. Go see your doc so it doesn't have a chance to really lay you low.

Also hoping your fields stay above freezing, Drew. You've worked too hard for your efforts to be wiped out by a wayward frost.

Got a start on the wiring harness on the old bike, cleaning it up really well and finding only a few issues. All those wires going into the headlight shell are a bit intimidating, but taking each wire one-by-one will eventually get it done. So I'll give it another lick today and see what happens.

I also need to roll the touring bike outside and hose off all the salt it picked up last week. Not good to leave that stuff sitting any length of time with all those wires and aluminum turning into oxide.

35°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 65°. Voice on the radio suggested possibly near 70°. Maybe some rain and thunderstorms tonight.

Wife dug out some of her Grandmother's old trinkets, and found a brand new rain gauge still in the package. Guess I don't have to buy one after all.

She attended a 2-1/2 hour women's self-defense class last night, put on by a neighboring town's police department. Having studied martial arts for several years, she didn't really learn any new fighting techniques, but did gain some insight into criminal minds with bad intent from the male and female officers. One of the interesting things they discussed was the importance of making eye contact. They noted how Subway restaurants used to get robbed a lot, until they changed an employee policy. When anyone walks in the door, every employee stops what they're doing and looks at the visitor while they welcome them. Every one, every time. They rarely get robbed anymore. I never knew that's why they did that. Smart stuff.

... and as for remembering what everyone posts here ... there's not going to be a test is there? Because I didn't study. My dog ate my homework. My book was still in my locker. I forgot. (sounding a lot like a certain someone I know)

(I notice the forum doesn't support the extra letters used in Slovak!).

I use ascii alt codes for the goofy stuff, like alt+0176 for the degree symbol. You may be able to find some of those letters in there. Not really familiar with the Slovakian alphabet. One note, though, is that sometimes the forum software gets a little confused by mixed formatting, and takes the liberty of inserting some extra jibberish for you. Sometimes it happens when you post, and sometimes it doesn't show up until someone quotes your post. Weird, but editable.

daugen [I said:
Guess I better find my decoder ring before Wednesday. [/I]

Thomas, may I borrow it after you are done please?
I need to know if my snow peas are going to freeze.
That's all, where the upper level cold air is going
doesn't matter, are the first half of my beets going to freeze?

What does the ring say?

If only it would stop freezing March 1 every year and rain every Wednesday night.
That's not asking for much, is it?

sun is coming up and hopefully the temps will rise quickly. Otherwise it will be a slow quiet morning waiting for 50 degrees to show up.
........................
Wife refuses to hand the ring over, she fears I might lose the ring and needs ring to figure me out often.

Good morning everyone. A clear sunny breezy day here. It started off below freezing. We should reach the mid to high 40F's this PM.

Looking4new- Thanks for the gas/diesel motor information.

Farmer please take care of yourself.

Freedomlives- Thank you for sharing. It's sad that a place within eyesight takes hours to get to due to "politics."

The most recent weather model runs do not reflect the upper and lower jet streams phasing for this pending storm. The NWS/Taunton,MA weather discussion has been amazing this year as to pre- storm event analysis and outcomes. A segment from today's discussion:

"...Given the large spread among deterministic and ensemble guidance, a
model blend is likely most skillful at this time range. Thus much of
this forecast period was weighted toward a model blend. Thus all
possible outcomes remain possible ranging from a glancing blow to a
direct hit to something in between. Thinking in 24 hrs 00z guidance
will begin to converge on a solution as jet energy becomes better
sampled by upper air CONUS network and 00z aircraft data."

And from NWS/Buffalo,NY:

"... A very untrustworthy weather system is then set to impact the region
Thursday into Friday. Why untrustworthy? It has nothing to do with
the chance of precipitation, which is near 100%, nor the QPF amounts
which are generally around inch centered over the western Southern
Tier, tapering off to around a quarter inch in the North Country. It
all comes down to thermodynamic profiles and how much cold air is
available to cause a transition to snow on Friday. This event has
been mainly billed as a rain event that is expected to change over
to and end with some minor or nuisance snow on Friday. But not so
fast..."

= more data needed.

This storm however it finally develops will set the stage for the next storm ~ March 7 - 9.

Car shopping today........ It will probably be a trip to the Subaru dealer. Wifey wants another Forester. They are decent snow vehicles. It's her car; her choice. I hate dealing with car salespeople.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes.

Good morning all!, not to chilly this morning, only down to 38, going up to 58. Supposed to get windy again tonight and tomorrow. Considerably colder tomorrow, only to 43, then rebound up to 52 on Thursday. Weather can't make up its mind.

Couldn't wait any longer... went out yesterday and started making up the laminated beams for my project. Knee started screaming after a few hours, so called it quits. Not too bad pain this morning, so gonna go out again and work until the balance between pain or fatigue occurs. Never been one to sit and "nurse" a problem, more like "just walk (or work) it off". Some things like the flu or illness, no, get sleep / rest, but a physical injury, work through it. May be good or may be bad..don't know.

Got caught up in reading two long threads here related to property easements, property lines, etc. Scary stuff how the courts proceeded and didn' even uphold their own decisions. So with that in mind, I may have a problem that could be nothing, or could arise and bite me in the arse. Here goes:

The property adjoining our 5 acres has a fence that is on our property 2', at approx 330' from the shared property corner. This fence was installed by the previous owner about 4 years ago. He sold the home / property 2 years ago to a retired couple, they have not moved here yet, trying to sell their farm first. Shortly thereafter, about a year and a half ago, I subdivided my property, and in the survey process, found out about the fence line issue. I called them and advised them of the fence problem. They "told" me "you can take down the fence, we were going to take it down anyway". So here's the issues: 1) I don't have anything in writing about removing the fence. 2) Do they want me to take down the fence so they can say- you took down the fence, now you have to put it back up! 3) since it is on my property, can I remove it legally w/o any ramifications? 4) are they just ok with it and really don't care if I take it down? 5) If I send them paperwork to sign getting written permission to remove the fence, I don't want to piss them off, making a bad neighbor before really becoming neighbors.
I don't mind removing the fence, just gives me tractor time. I have been "burned" before going on people's word, 99% of the time no, but I am a little concerned with this situation.

Prayers out to those needing them. Hope everyone continues to get better from illness.
Have a great day, be safe!

The low this morning was 7*, it was in the mid 30' yesterday. Today is going to be about the same as yesterday. Mid 30's, partly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. The wind will be of the WNW at 5-10 watch is odd.

farmers 2009... I think it is the same one you have, 2015 570 Ranger Crew full size. I had the soft cab put on it when we got it. I added a Firestorm heater last fall. It works pretty good if I can keep the water temperature above 180*. That means low gear most of the time. I also have one of the cheap 12 volt seat warmer that you plug in. Believe it or not that makes a big difference.
I really like it, I drive it more then I thought I would. I use it to run around up here. I have it licensed for the road and take it hunting, if I hunt around the house.
I can see why you love it.

The neighbor has to take a car to town get it worked on today. So I'm giving her a ride back to the house. I talked to her husband yesterday and he is doing better. But he has to stay in Riverton for a few more weeks.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.
