Anyone know if receiver is supposed to get the audio from the hdmi, as it comes in from components, and not returned from the ARC link, or optical audio to the tv?
My understanding ARC is only to get the TV audio since it has no input. I need to order an optical audio cable

I'm confused, Buckeye. Is your TV an audio/video source? These days, or at least in my case, the TV gets audio/video from a satellite or cable box, or something like an AppleTV. So each of those devices get plugged into receiver INPUTS, then a single HDMI cable goes from the OUTPUT of the receiver to the INPUT of the TV. But if you're using the TV to capture over-the-air signals, then you you can use an HDMI cable from the OUTPUT (sometimes called a feed through) of the TV to an INPUT of the receiver. Pioneer's manuals are usually pretty easy to understand, but I think they also have a toll free line to call in. I've never had to use it, though. Hope this helps, and good luck!

ARC (audio return channel) returns tv sound to the receiver. Not sure mine supports ARC, but it does have fiber audio output, which can connect to receiver to do the same function. Manual shows both methods of returning tv sound to the receiver.

Need it for ota, if using the tv tuner. I do have ota dvr that will also go thru receiver, so could use it.

However, when i hook satellite receiver, or blu ray thru the new receiver, i get no sound from the receiver, only from the tv speakers.

Today was supposed to be tractor day, but the alcove like area behind my garage where my trailer is, still has around 2’ of snow covering the 20’ approach and the trailer itself. I haven’t felt well enough to shovel it, it would take half a day. I’m hoping enough melts today to get my truck in there and hook it up. Then I can pull it around to the side and shovel it out. I don’t want to tear up the lawn getting it out. If only kids today had any work ethic I could hire a couple away from their X Box and Twitter.

Upper 20s early, around 50 later, I hope it melts this crappy snow!

I hope you guys have a good day and life is good to you all.

No, didnt think of that, thanks.

I put the receiver under my tv, stereo is too far away to reach the other components right now.

25° planning on going to work for a couple hrs today.

BEF;

I have a fiber optic cable from 65” Samsung TV to Pioneer receiver. Regardless of whether I’m on Dish Network or Bluetooth DVD audio works.

Hi bird, ever get those lawn tractor tires squared away

How long ago are you thinking of. I did put a tube in one rear tire on my last lawn tractor. But I went back to walk behind, self-propelled mowers. I had a good Toro, but gave it to my grandson, and now I use an Ego self-propelled that I really like.

34F and mostly cloudy @ 10:30, high today should hit 46F.

Got that new (old) lid for the other Magnum filter installed last night, also finished cleaning one of the sponge filters. Had to use boiling water to get the old fittings and valves out of the vinyl tubing on the Magnum. Have a little HOB filter to clean out today.

Have to bring the tractor around back this morning and move about twenty 2 x 4's up to the garage where the saws are, so they can be cut. Probably try to clear the slop off the driveway down here around the house while I'm at it.

After that, head over to the license bureau to renew the registration on the van, then mebbe the trip to Menards.

Happy birthday rs!
Thanks Kyle.

... I like those diablo blades too. They sure cut smooth when brand new.
Yeah ... I've seen a lot of positive comments on them.

I put one on the table saw a while back and it cut nice ... haven't used it enough to say how it will hold up long-term, but so far so good.

Good Morning!!!! 50F Cloudy. Periods of rain this morning. High 51F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Looks like we picked up another inch of rain yesterday, and another 0.04" since midnight. So far it's all been pretty gentle, giving it a chance to soak in. Having said that, though, the waterfall across the canyon is roaring, and is once again visible from the front porch. Not much in the way of wind, either, and that's very good news for the new tarp over the wood pile.

Sounds like you folks back east are getting a little break in the weather. Hope it lasts!

Sorry, Buckeye, you're on your own on ARC. I don't think anything here uses it, and I've never heard of it before. Maybe a little RTFM (Read The Friendly Manual) is in order? I really wonder at this stuff sometimes, about how much more complicated it can get and still be marketable to average Joes like us. But then maybe that's why companies like the Geek Squad are flourishing?

It got to the point here that I had to break down and buy a programmable Logitec remote controller. I've been using inexpensive RCA controllers and the open source JP-1 software to do the same thing, but the new devices weren't being supported and I used it so infrequently I was having trouble remembering how it all worked. With the Logitec, it just plugs into the laptop, you find the devices in a drop down list, and the software sets up the macros needed to switch between all the different inputs. I was surprised it works as well as it does.

Spent most of yesterday getting turned down for homeowner's insurance. None of the online quotes I tried would work, and the clerks I talked to were all very apologetic, but it's now sounding like if your house is more than five miles from a fire station manned 24x7x365 and there's no fire hydrant within 1000', you're SOL for homeowner's insurance. At least from the major companies; I tried The Hartford, State Farm, Farmers, Geico, Progressive, Allstate, and AAA. I have a quote from Scottsdale, which is apparently a Nationwide subsidiary, but their Yelp! reviews are horrible and Moody's just downgraded Nationwide's outlook to negative. I have a couple more to try today, but it's not looking good.

In the better news department, the old motorcycle transmission came back yesterday, as did a replacement engine stud for the non-stainless steel one that was shipped by mistake. Maybe this afternoon I'll get some garage time, but I said the same thing yesterday.

Happy Hump Day gang!
