Lots of wrecks all around due to slick roads

This is a great little spot on the net. I'm doing better, but still a little off. We are still going up to the low 50's by Thursday. Cant come soon enough.

Yes thanks for starting this very satisfying and great group of people

Our temps have been rising after dark, up to 31° tomorrow will be 1st time above freezing in over 2 weeks.

Good evening all. 38F for the start, light wind clear sky. High today was 58F, winds moderate, and clear sky. Found .2 inch in the rain gauge from yesterday. They are starting to moderate the temps for this weekend. Choir practice this morning, followed by KP duty, bike ride, lunch, replace truck headlight and nap. Need to get Christmas lights down and work out what's going on with the van's rear heater.

This has been one significant "anomalous" arctic airmass over the eastern CONUS. In the last two weeks there were 9 days with early AM temperatures at 0F or -0F here.

The only good that came of this is that I determined that my current diesel fuel "mix" reaches cloud point somewhere between -7F and -10F.

33 this morning and a high of 39. Currently 38. Rainy misty all day. Now lots of fog, visibility is under a quarter of a mile.

News had false reports of school closures this morning. Not the first time that’s happened. Bet the superintendent is wishing he’d just canceled and made the news happy. Had a school bus top a hill and the other side was a sheet of ice. Missed the curve and slid into ditch. 3 of the 8 students were transported to hospital. Mostly precautionary. Very rural roads. No salt outside of state highways. Buses around here don’t get winter tires or anything.

Always nice to hear that clip from Paul Harvey.

Spent most of day getting things ready for birds to leave end of the week.

33 right now...that's the warmest it's been this time of the morning in 3 weeks, give or take. The high will be in the low to mid 30's.

Good morning all, 39 going to 48 and mostly sunny. Got a good dusting of snow last night, just see it on flat surfaces. Not sure of the plan today, time will tell.

Prayers all around. Ed

Slick roads here too now the temperature has risen to a smidgen above zero, with light rain on top.

I've been feeding the wood burner with timber from the back of the pile and found a few more pieces that had come from a public park - some interesting pieces in there, like this wire tree.

Wire Tree.jpg Do I burn it or plug it in ?

At least those wires are clearly visible, unlike the fence wire and staple I found yesterday, buried inside an old hawthorn. I should have expected it as I had just treated the Stihl to a new chain and it thanked me yet again by finding steel before it had time to drink a single tank of fuel :confused3:

30 now with icy roads. Mid 40s later. I’m hoping this snow melts.
Prayers for us all, have a great day!

31 going up to low fifties today, yeah
Sure was nice to wake up to a warm house, no cold toilet seats...
and no laying awake at 2am wondering if the heat will run out. Slept great...

I promised the lady at the propane place if she got me gas this week I'd bring them brownies.
Gas showed up same day....hmmm. Down to bakery in town and those ladies are going to get some fancy
pastries instead. So a few errands to run, then back to melting snow.

Hope Mrs Riptides is doing ok and both are happily home.
Getting back into one's own bed is one of life's great joys after an experience like that.
And I bet Rip will be happy to argue over the remote now.

Irv, Ed and Buckeye, all feel better. Sure I missed someone.
Tis the time to catch the bug

Good morning! 37˚ heading to the low 60s sunny, wind is from the North but shifting from the South. More garage cleaning today.
Yesterday I put the new seat on the BH. The other ripped when that tree fell on it. It's only been sitting in the garage for a year. Christy claimed her great grandfather's dinning table and will take it off my hands. I tried to give away the cedar serving boat but my wife decided she wanted it as a table decoration. Making some progress in downsizing.

FD metting last night and FD decided to try to buy the land we have been having the fish fry on if the owners will sell it. My mother remembers when they used to have school and church picnics there. The picnic grounds have always been private land and the FD just leases it for the Fish Fry We should be able to buy it with two to three years of Fish Fry profits. Then we will feel better about putting in some structures instead of tents. The FD already put in the water and electric.

37 high of 54 today after yesterday's dance with freezing rain. Cold came in fast and had staying power but left just as fast. There is no blocking NAO to hold it in.

Great football game last night best so far in college championship game I think

Prayers for Riptides Buckeyefarmer and Toppop and all other silent requests

31 going to 50s...local TV weather lady says black ice caused her to slide into the ditch on the way in this morning...she's about 9 months pregnant, too. We still have snow on the ground, but yesterday's rain melted most of it.

Eric, I don't know if finding metal and wire inside old wood counts as learning something shocking, so you'll have to plug it in. Sorry about your new chain. Cutting with a new chain is one of life's great pleasures. I'm promised my new sharpener will make chains cut better than new...at least that's what the satisfied reviewers say.

Buppies, I actually stayed up until the end of the game last night...after taking a short 1st half nap...started the game with no favorite, but found myself pulling for the Dawgs.

Wife coming home today from NC, after taking her dad to doctors and to have a procedure on his esophagus...been gone a week...I guess I have some cleaning up to do :). I haven't told Coco yet...she get's so excited.

wngsprd I was rooting for the Dogs due to the Frank Beamer connection. He was a great coach at Va Tech and just inducted into college football hall of fame. I like you took a small nap but watched game in its entirety after short nap

Drinking first cup of coffee. 21° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with partly cloudy skies. A little more snow should melt today. Should be a good day to hook up chipper to tractor and see how well it works. Been using my infrared heat gun lately. Found a cool spots that need some added insulation. A trip to Lowes for some batts of insulation. May crawl into attic and put it in place.
PJ, no idle chit chat at our place. We do not have a dishwasher. Well not the automatic type you store dirty dishes in. :D
Hope everyone is feeling better today. Payers for all.
Riptides, best wishes for your wife's fast recovery now that she is home.
Good Morning All.
