65°F and another .01 inches rain.

Another positive day yesterday. Today will be cleanup. The Cottage tenants come home today from their mainland holiday travels. Hope they have good news regarding their property purchase.

Be safe
Have a great day

Rescued a kitten snowed under the porch this morning, her mom was following me through the snow desperately meowing, I stopped and listened and heard Sassy through the few holes that weren’t covered. I dug down beside the steps and used the handle to punch out under them. Out pops the 7 month old, been there a couple of days I guess. She joined Mom and headed to the deck box that has the food.

Good for you.
Our neighbors outdoor cat has been in our garage during this cold spell. Wife put in a cat bed the other day, it will barely leave it. It has litter box, food, water. Cat is loving it. Still pretty cold in insulated garage, but not like outside.
10° and very windy out.
Just went out to pickup a UPS delivery, cat acted like it wanted out, got to the door, changed it's mind, went back in garage. Lol. Smart cat.

It's almost still morning;
Went out at 8:30 started the tractor, did a little bit of shoveling started plowing, finished plowing, topped the fuel tank on tractor up, even went and changed the filter on the bulk tank hand pump.
Now it's time for more coffee temps clear up to 1 degree F now at noon, after a bit I'll go to town to pick up some odds and ends.
looking out the kitchen this morning 6 to 8 " dry fluffy snow from 4 Jan storm

Now there's some serious snow, great pics Lou. I like the icicles on the cab.
I think we drive the same truck, Ram 1500

I push quite a bit of my snow to this location so it builds up some,
I got kind of a fancy truck for my retirement, a 15 Ram 1500 Big Horn with the little eco diesel,
been a good truck so far about 46,000 miles on it now.

I look at Lou's well equipped powerful tractor, a real snow machine, and flash back to my teenage years.
John Deere B with a snow blade out front, manual turn, and manual hydraulic blade lift.
Pumped my arm off. The steel green seat was incredibly cold, the steering wheel was cold, but that tractor pucka pucka'd
the snow year after year. Our farm lane was about a third of a mile long, three parking lots, barn doors to dig out, then when done
I could go make money with that tractor going up and down our country road.
I'd just drive up and meet them at the door, usually greeted with a Bless You and Are You Warm Enough?
and then I tried not to hit anything lurking. My first IED's...with a foot of snow, which was not unusual, and you are on someone else's property with no
lane flags, well good luck not hitting something. And i sure tried to keep the blade from scalping up the gravel. Bad enough I had to clean up my own endless gravel driveway.

I can just imagine how much fun that would have been if I had Lou's tractor back then instead. Like coming out of the Stone Age.

I'd go home really cold, wet, tired but with a pocket stuffed with cash. If you want to earn you just have to work.
Never slowed down since. Well now I have.
Nice snow machine Lou.

Ironically I was supposed to go pick up a Kubota with multiple attachments yesterday.
My little Cub Cadet would have laughed me in this. My son in law is sending the Calvary.

51F right now......very light drizzle. Will get some rain this afternoon. Looking down at a herd of elk....at least 25......very nice. Went to start tractor this morning......battery finally pooped out. Have charged it several times.....no cranking amps left. Realized I bought that battery in 3/2000.....got my money's worth. New battery.....group 51R cost $95 with core exchange.....pricey little devil! Hope it lasts 8 years!

7F and partly cloudy @ 13:45, with a windchill of -13 ... so we've already beat the predicted high for the day (6F) ... overnight low for tonight will be around -4F again.

Looks like there is a warmup on the way, high Sunday should hit 24F (same as the predicted low) ... and possibly going up to the 50's for a high by Thursday, with more "normal" temps after that.

Need to see if I can scrounge up a reasonably straight and untwisted 2 x 4 to frame out that door opening. Also have to go up to the shop and grab the cordless drill ... now that I've managed to remember where I set it. Also need to find the 5' level and some framing wedges.

If I get that done and the door hung, might start washing down the walls.

Van has not been started in a while ... will probably wait until Sunday to attempt it, as it has glowplug issues (probably one or more bad)

Hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

Good afternoon look like I'm not the only one snarling at the snow. Went out and played last night for a few hours then woke up this morning early start to go clean out my wife at the house at the lake that was 2 hours of shoveling and a walk behind snowblower I'll pay for that later feel it in my shoulders already. After all the fresh air took an hour nap.
Don't know about short leg dogs but when my 4 Shepard's went out before I plowed the all stopped at the top step and looked at me before jumping in the snow. I plow an area on the side of the house for the to take care of their needs.
Buckeye sounds like you had a good day yesterday, five guys and a good news call from Dr.
For all who don't often get this much snow be careful out there drew I bet most cars in your area are sporting summer tires. I hear a lot of people say why do I need summer tires I have all weather tires after they drive off the road and think of my father in law who was in the tire business he always said if all weather tires were that good tire company's wouldn't make snow tires..

tonight will be bad news; can't see the icy spots, glare everywhere, going to be a lot of vehicles in the ditches.
Once it gets icy, which this packed down snow has already gotten, it's been my experience that only careful driving and slow speed will work. Had a guy following me mimicking my driving, thankfully from a nice distance behind me. When I straddled the middle of the road in a shiny icy spot, I saw he did too. We crept up that road but kept up a pace that still allowed steering and stopping. I was in 4wd Auto. The latest Michelins, as do the Continentals, and other high tech tires have better silica rubber compounds, stays softer in the winter and in regular snow has surprising grip. I never felt myself slip today. Actually I did but only when I was hooning around in my UTV doing power slides in 2wd in the snowy fields. Juvenile but great fun.

Sounds like to me that you may grow older, but you will never grow up! Me too.

Just a before and after mow.
Then we were called out to a 10 acre fire, typical winter day.
