8 going to 24...stayed pretty windy all night.

Been too cold to melt any snow. Did some good animal tracking yesterday and confirmed the red fox is still using the old den.

May try to get into town today to go to the gym, and BEF has me wanting some 5 Guys...maybe if I do extra cardio.

Mostly, cool weather station, but not sure you'll ever register any precip like it is.

Ed, hope you can get a nap today...or at least some quiet time in your shop.

BEF, glad you don't need the surgery...and hoping it stays that way.

Riptides, I bet you're counting the hours down to get home...hope it is a good trip.

12 feels like -3, but shooting up to 19 today, -3 tonight 18 tomorrow. Near 60 next week, bring it on!

Call from nursing home to tell me I might have been exposed to type A influenza Wednesday when I went to visit mom. I did wear a mask because of my own upper respiratory stuff going on. Gotta call doc to see if I should get Tamiflu prophylactically.

Indeed outstanding good news BEF.

WOW! That is a fair bit of snow for MD. I think I would hire a kid to shovel it.

-20 and going to warm up to -9. Wind NW 17 mph. 30% chance of flurries, but no accumulation.

I don't think I have anything on my plate for today. At least nothing I am going to do.

Stay safe all and NO snow shoveling. Remember, the good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away. It will be gone by June.

7 degrees and the temp keeps dropping.
Not motivated to go out in this and it's going to get colder tonight.

Still a little sore from shoveling for two hours yesterday.
This was not a light and fluffy storm, even with drifts. Each shovel had some weight and it all adds up.

Still wondering how to deal with this in the future. Best implement on my paved driveway would be a forward rotating brush but have no other use for it. Geez I thought I'd never have to walk behind a snowblower again....
My initial idea of using my pull behind blower was a joke, axles are too low, would have gotten jammed up in snow.
I won't get my back blade anywhere near that pavement; don't trust my abilities not to wreck things.

On asphalt I turn the blade around so it won’t dig in. I don’t have asphalt here just shells and pavers, but old place was pavement and concrete.

New official snow total is 12.5”.

and it's not melting...go slow with that Randy. Little bit at a time.
Where are the bands of teenagers all holding up shovels and looking for work?

forecast for tonight and tomorrow? Pipebusting weather. 1 degree tomorrow night. Very, very cold for this area.
Going to light a fire today and just let it run, have lots of wood to burn and this is the time.

Randy, I saw on the CocoRaHS weather reporting that Chincoteague had 13 inches, so you guys got hit the most.

Drew, you may never see another snow/temps like this...plus it will likely melt off your drive Monday. I bet your RAM would like to go 4 wheeling in the snow. :)

Just looked at the weather at the trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains where I had wanted to go... -3 with a high of 6 and 45 MPH winds.

   / Good morning!!!! #67,392
Below 0 the next two nights.
Drew, get a rubber edge for your blade or just go spend some more of that fortune on a broom. LOL

I had to clean off my heat pump yesterday, sounded funny and short cycling.Near completely buried and packed with snow.

Good Morning!!!! 38F @ 3:30AM. Rain. High 54F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a half an inch.

A little skiff of rain came through a bit ago and woke me up, and now I'm having trouble getting back to sleep. This head cold is still hanging on, but seems to be getting a little better. Got first homeowner's insurance quote from a local independent agent yesterday, and it's 250% higher than I'm paying now. The office girl that prepared the quote was also trying to rush me into signing up immediately, leaving me with an uncomfortable feeling about that business. Fortunately I've got plenty of time to get other quotes. The local paper ran a story about insurance companies declining to renew policies in the California counties that have had the fires, and some 10,000 homeowners are in the same boat I am. In reality, I bet the number is far higher than that.

Hope you can keep healing and get by without any more surgery, Buckeye. But take it easy slinging those pellets around, OK?

Hope you folks dealing with the cold and snow can take it easy and not try to do too much at once. Maybe look at the weather report for the next few days and see if it'll melt on its own. Much of the eastern seaboard will be thawing out early in the new week. Not so much in Maine, though, but the cold will still ease up a little for you.

TGIF gang. Like Thomas sez, it's been a long one.

Got up couple hours earlier plow driveway clean steps and path,by the feel and sounds wind I'll be doing it again after work.

I did my work last night after work...waste of time since the wind blew it back across the drive. Fortunately, as I'd written in an earlier post...we didn't get much...3 inches or so.
I was concerned about the tractor starting...even with the block heater. It's been so cold, I expected the battery to be weak...but my fears were unfounded...the Deere started right up!

Morning folks!

-14 this morning and it feels like it! Getting the wood stove cranked back up for the day. A little extra Bailey's in the coffee is called for I think.

Ordered my tractor before xmas and still patiently waiting for delivery. For once, I hope it doesn't come today as I don't want to be outside to put it in the barn. :)

plus it will likely melt off your drive Monday.

Yup.
forecast for next week? Four days in the 50's and 60's even. Need to be patient....

11 this morning high of 20 maybe wind still howling warm up next week but I'm afraid only for a short while then cold again. The storm track will remain across the Deep South east coast so I would not be surprised to see more snow/ice for areas that do not normally see such things

Prayers for Riptides Buckeyefarmer Toppop Ed and other silent requests

Drinking second cup of coffee. -10 with clear skies this morning. Heading to 7° with mostly sunny skies. Wife and I got all the christmas decorations down and packed away in storage bins. Need to get them out to barn. But not today. No plans other than stay inside out of the cold today.
Buckeye, good news.
Drew, put a piece of PVC on the FEL bucket edge. Does a good job and does not mark drive. Check out the guy that used a 50" VIZIO box to move snow.
Ed, get some rest, hope your wifes feels better soon.
Randy, hope the flu stays away.
ETWoods, good plan. Unless you can talk deliver person to put tractor away in barn for you.
Good Morning All.
