It was single digits this AM up here in NYC. Sun is out, have not been out yet. Wife is fast asleep, drugs and our new morning routine. She took a few steps this AM. Ya! Buddy!!! And I booked our flight home for next week. That cheered her up. We need to push and get her physical and mental state to be out of here. The hotel is awesome. They check on us frequently and the location offers all the fast food and sandwich shops one can imagine within a sprinting distance. I even visited a grocery store across the street for Blue Berries and Grapes yesterday AM.

We are ready to come home, it's final count-down now.

We have a 60% chance if 1” or more, right on the line but in the 1-3 prediction. Last model runs have lightened our snowfall a bunch, if that hold# we will be more like an inch. Yay!

12F right now going down to 5 and up to 14 tomorrow. 1" snow tonight, 2" tomorrow and another inch tomorrow night. I think I will plow tomorrow after I get back from a dump run and town.

Dad tried to break the ice on his spring with mattock, so cows could drink, and it was too thick. Did say some was overflowing the catch basin, so they have some.
At least he called my sister before walking back there, said if he wasnt back in an hr to come looking. I had a sigh of relief when he said that, i was about ready to get on him. Too steep to get tractor there in winter. He was going to drive truck part way, it wouldnt start. Worry about him all alone at his age.

Cold here, but not as bad as some of you guys. We had a good New Years, but didn’t go anywhere this year. Don’t really like going out much in this weather anyway. I haven’t started up the tractor in a few days, not much new snow, and that’s the only reason to crank it in this weather. I am making plans for the 1st break in the weather, I need to finish a small outside job at the shop, then a few things at the house. I hope to get my barn made over into a shop this year. I need someplace to work thru the winter. A man cave I guess!

Still cold for us here. 29F here. My coworkers are from Poland and Russia. We were colder than Poland and the same as Perm Russia. Spasibo.

Had to wear my Ski jacket today. It is a bit bulky but nice and toasty in the cold and wind.

RV story: My buddy was staying at an RV park near Fredericksburg Texas and one of the nearby longer term stayers (from Alaska) said "It's too cold, I'm headed to Arizona!" He pulled up stakes and left.

I'm gonna have to "sell a kid down the river" to pay next month's electric bill. Glad my name isn't Bill (like my brother's), since nobody likes Bills. But he's OK, some of the time. Sorry if your a William or Buddy or Bill, I was just trying to make a joke.

We are trying to limit some types of foods in our autistic daughter's menu. Glutens, food dyes, peanuts, trying to cut way back on sugar too.

Good evening all. 16F for the start, cloudy, moderate north wind. Wind was 10-15, cloudy most of the day, and high temp of 25F. Stayed at the wood stove most of the day, and worked on catching up with you guys. Stove technique is getting better, burning bigger pieces and less wood. Furnace guy isn't coming till Friday, lots of folks have no heat . WBS keeps the living room at 70-72 in this weather, bedrooms not as warm.

4F and clear @ 23:40, with a windchill of -11F.

The Woman was on a cleaning tear today ... so other than getting her a bucket of water and moving the stove out so she could clean behind it, I tried to keep my head down and stay out of her way.

Got bills scheduled for payment and got the trash taken up to the road earlier when the sun was out. Skipped the recycles for another two weeks.

Also designed another two racks for the fish room for 18" deep tanks - 30 and 40 gallon breeders, back to back:

Only thing I haven't found a good location for is the utility tub ... was hoping to avoid punching a hole in the wall and installing another door, but I'm not seeing a solution at this point. Might be just as well ... the closet I would put it in (lower left of the image) if I did so actually has a tile floor rather than carpet.

Tomorrow it will get up to 19F so I plan on moving some lumber up out of the basement to the garage so it can be cut.

Might have to sneak outside here in a bit and get a look at that moon.

6 degrees right now...cold, but at least not as cold. Low 20s as the high today.
Looks like another 4-6 inches of snow coming in on Thursday...along with high winds. Almost blizzard conditions, if one believes the forecast.

I'll be heading to Connecticut tomorrow and Friday...forecast down there doesn't look much better..

Good morning all. My daughter and children are back home today, so I have no excuses left for not getting on with jobs again. Having them stay over Christmas and then again for another 5 days while their heating system was down has been a real treat and got me taking the longest holiday I have had in many years.

Ed, few things as satisfying as making something with hand tools. I bet the ease of sharpening chisels and plane blades with your new Tormek is making a difference.

Ron, it may be colder without your annual migration, but at least you seem to have more time now for lathe work. Any chance of a few pictures ? I miss the old days before CNC, when shiny round things happened right in front of your eyes instead of semi hidden behind a big coolant splashed guard.

Thermometer says 6 degrees, lowest temp I've ever seen here. And why am I getting more snow than Toppop! Geez nothing like a winter NorEaster to make a mess of things. Now up to 3-5 inches with localized 8 inches. And not one snow plow in existence. None.
Needless to say I'm going nowhere and staying home and baking brownies.

Got to get some pellets from barn to the porch storage box, while boys still here. I can put 2 weeks worth in box, large plastic deck box. Then pile a few more bags on top.

Thanks for the prayers, yesterday evening was rough emotionally for me.

We suddenly gave a 50% chance of snow tonight into thur morning. Wonnerful wonnerful. Friend was going to bring me 5 guys for lunch thur.

Snowing in Savannah and headed our way. They say at one point it was snowing from Mexico to Virginia.
Weather folks say up to a foot of snow in New England with 40-60mph winds. So this could be a major event due to the wind.
All I care about is that my backup gen starts when the power lines go down. Otherwise hopefully the snow will melt in a day or two at the most.
