Good morning everybody. Its a lovely 5° here in southern middle Tennessee. Whichever of you northern guys lost your single digit temperature, you more that welcome to take it back. :) Some of you probably still wear a t-shirt at this temp. So do I, as well as a flannel shirt, thick coat...etc.:)

-5°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 19° today. That full moon was quite bright last night and into this morning.

We had a relatively quiet New Year's Day at our place. The Wife is the only one who likes black eyed peas, so she skipped those this year and instead made some soy-glazed swai over bok choy, and chicken yakisoba. It was delicious. Maybe a new "tradition" at the Smith house.

Our new furnace seems to be holding up just fine in this cold weather. We've been below zero every night since Friday, and the house is staying at a pleasant 70°.

Stay warm, fellas.

Don, my last electric bill was $122 also in an all electric house, and unfortunately, I, too, expect it to just about double this next time.

I'll see that and raise you, a bunch. Plus the propane at 1.89 a gallon. Both combine into $400+ months, I once rang the next bell.
Winters are expensive...way more than my summers. Next year I plan on blowing in more insulation. I did the windows and doors, but the upstairs can't be well insulated
because the heat pump up here runs constantly. Time to cut down on some of these big bills. It's money out the window because you get nothing back for it besides temporary comfort.

Good morning 2 deg. This morning I needed to run an errand then I started the truck in the garage the outside vehicle temp showed 22 by the time I drove a mile down the road temp read 1 deg. Looks like one more dat of this cold them warming up enough to get 6 to 8 inches of snow on Thursday.
All of you with electric heat don't feel to bad I have been listening to my furnace run burning oil nonstop for the las few days. Doesn't take long to empty the tank and this is a new "efficient" oil burner!
Toppop the short "visits" from loved ones are comforting for sure, when my mom passed last March put an alarm system in the house because it was empty, for the first few weeks I was called for the alarm going off no explanation but would swear things in the living room were moved.
Have a good day all and stay warm

7° and sunny at 9 am. Going up to 20 today. No snow in forecast, just colder at end of week.

Go back to doctor later today.

Flipped over to check the weather on the phone, now it says 13°. Guess it didn't update during the time it took to read 3 pages of good morning posts.

Gotta check in at the office. Company started a new login procedure today, wonder if i will be able to get on the network.

My electric bill is over $200 a month a lot. Used to be under $100. Mostly due to rates went up, partially to having 2 college boys.

Morning all,
Woke up to -16F this morning, went out to the kitchen and the coal insert had that end of the house at 74 felt nice.
Had to take my wife to work her cars in the shop, did a remote start for my truck to warm it up, (had it plugged in and heated for 2 hours)
danged overly smart truck didn't start because the hood wasn't fully closed, ****. On the way to take her to work temperature varied from -16 to -26
in a couple of spots. Had to fuel up the truck this morning and I had taken the power serve and funnel out of her, so swung by an Advance Auto and picked
up some PS and a funnel filled the truck up and came home for my bacon and eggs. Tractor is plugged in now just in case. Heat wave tomorrow and the next day
highs in the low 20's then **** Saturday forecasting a high of "0". Be heading over to my brothers in a bit give him a hand feeding and getting water opened up.
fun fun fun....

It looks like 6* is going to be the low for the morning. The wind was bad yesterday with the high in the mid 30's. It might get up to the 40's today with 10-15 mph winds and sunny.

Last week the weather man said that the annual snowpack is at 65% of normal so far this year. That doesn't look good for the runoff this spring. The temps are running higher this year also. But it seems like the wind is blowing more.

Going to take the elk in to have it cut up, I'll make this the weekly trip to town.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

CWB, how does elk taste compared to deer? stronger?

got a haircut, gas in truck and a couple of winning Powerball and MegaMillion tickets.
I promise to share the 8 million with you.

Bright sunny beautiful day, just cold. Still, 24 degrees must seem like July to some of you.

Got a call from trash pickup company, they sent me wrong bill, my cost stays the same, did not go up like the bill said.

Can not log in at work. New way nor old way works. Maybe it works in the office, but it sure ain't working remote. Guess i better call and tell them.

Up to 16°, glad to see CWB wyo reporting warmer temps, means we will get it here, eventually. Got a cold thur and fri coming, but staying on the positive side.

Brrrrrr, you guys sure are cold.
If you could do a favor. Would really like to see it warm up. We get in Va 01/20 to visit son and family. Not sure shorts and a tee are gonna do it.

As for diesel and propane, both right about $5/gallon here.

It was single digits this AM up here in NYC. Sun is out, have not been out yet. Wife is fast asleep, drugs and our new morning routine. She took a few steps this AM. Ya! Buddy!!! And I booked our flight home for next week. That cheered her up. We need to push and get her physical and mental state to be out of here. The hotel is awesome. They check on us frequently and the location offers all the fast food and sandwich shops one can imagine within a sprinting distance. I even visited a grocery store across the street for Blue Berries and Grapes yesterday AM.

We are ready to come home, it's final count-down now.

Thank you all so much for the positive vibes and prayers! God bless you all.

11F and mostly sunny @ 14:00, windchill -5F. Overnight low was 4F.

Have to take the trash up to the road here in a little bit, which will be fun no doubt.

The Woman spent yesterday cooking after running out to pick up groceries. She made the sausage dumplings and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes ... and entirely on her own origination ... I didn't say anything. She actually made double and gave half to our neighbors up the street. It was delicious.

Spent most of yesterday cleaning and moving junk out of the fish room. Still have a little more stuff to go and then I can start washing down the walls and ceiling and getting really to paint. I dunno what the paint is, that's on it currently ... looks to be almost flat but it might be satin ... and sure could stand to be repainted.

It was recommended to me to repaint the room with mold and mildew resistant paint ... thinking about using Zinsser Perma-White Mold and Mildew-Proof Semi-Gloss from The Depot. Supposedly a paint and primer all in one. I guess at $22/gallon it's reasonably priced. I don't think I'm going to have a moisture problem, as I plan to keep the tanks tightly covered ... but I'd rather be safe than sorry. If anyone has experience with this product feedback would be welcomed.

-4 this morning and it has made it to the forecast high of 20. Forecast has changed for tomorrow. Was our only day above freezing this week. Now that won’t happen till Sunday.

Home with wife and boys. Wife has another stomach bug and wasn’t sure if boys also had it this morning. Looks now like kids may have just been tired. Wife was supposed to go back to work today but hopefully tomorrow.

Winter power bills run $110-150. Plus about 1,000-1,200 gallons of propane. Summer power bills run $200-250. But winter bills also include any block heaters and tank heaters. Also has shop on it so some is for business use. Will change once I get new building completed. Pulling everything off the house and moving to a commercial account.

Drew. Definitely check attic insulation but also make sure the floor is insulated between levels. Especially with you having separate hvac systems.

Rip. Good news.
