33F right now......frost on the roofs........blue sky and very clear........we have a clam dig this afternoon........gonna watch some football......Happy New Year.

We now have clear, sunny skies and it's warmed up to 20 degrees. We've got some cabbage cooking, and got the tomatoes and onion sliced already, just have to make the cornbread, and get the corn, blackeyed peas, and beets on the stove, and we'll celebrate the New Year the way I like to celebrate.:laughing:

1 this morning and headed to 16 today. Currently 12. Tonight colder.

Ended the year with several breakdowns. Shut tractor off last night and looked at phone. Midnight. Happy new year . Wife and kids already in bed. Hopefully today goes better.

Still have to put out hay. And need to fix fence in last pasture. But may wait till tomorrow when it warms up a little.

Don, praying for your wife, Just went on Amazon to change a rating. We had gotten a DVD that had the wrong music on it. Had the right case and name printed on the dvd. We had given a 1 star and we were going to change it because they got us the correct DVD. However the review was gone, I guess we can't trust Amazons ratings ether.

Crab legs were excellent. Wife went to Kroger’s Friday and picked 2 large legs.

Don, why no WBS?

The news scroll said that 3 people have died in Travis county so far due to the flu.

No WBS for a few days because the smell of the wood make's her feel "stuffy". ??

Had a call from SIL in Harris county, she works for a HISD school and they had to send 100 kids homes 3 days in a row (300). because they were sick with the flu. They were going to shut the school down but they had just one more day before the holidays.
On the other side of Harris County my other SIL in reported that her son and many in school also had the flu, They missed Christmas with us this year.

When the kids go back to school next week I would expect many more sick and possible school closures.

Wife is OK just a lingering cough but no fever for 2 days. With TamiFlu I only had 2 days of fever and am at the same stage she is now. 90% good to go, just using caution. We both had the 9% effective flu shot, and are on the 91% ineffective list.

(I got the 91% from a study released in February (2014) that found that the flu shot was only 9 percent effective in protecting seniors against the 2012-2013 season’s most virulent influenza bug)

I'm skipping it next year because it is so ineffective and of the

I would think Amazon would be more honest than Costco when eliminating reviews. I can see why Costco eliminated my review because of lawsuits. But they could have at least investigated the defective device and thanked me for reporting it.


Temp is at 33˚ now and no frost on the heat pump. Two more cold nights, or with this group should I say warm nights above 0˚?

Finally reach -0F for high today but another -20F plus cold night tonight.

Thought today was going to be kick back day until phone rang it was work...7:30 - 2pm facing old man winter bite,now I am kicking back soaking in nice warm wood heat.

Had a nice New Year's Eve with the family made baked stuffed lobster for all then after everyone had a full stomach they went home and I was asleep before the stroke of midnight. My son had to work the midnight shift I remember when I did on cold nights almost felt sorry for him, but he loves his career.
Looked out the window across the bay couldn't resist taking this shot.

Son in law cooked my black eyed peas and did a good job, my daughter took down my decorations and grandson entertained.

Had a strange occurrence this morning wile waiting on my daughter, I was watching a Coach marathon and laughing at their antics. I clearly and without any doubt, heard my wife cough in the living room, the cats didn’t budge, so I knew nobody had come in. I got up and walked down the hall, when I get in the kitchen I could clearly smell her, hair, perfume and powder that made up her unique aroma. Only lasted a moment or two, but was strangely comforting.

Boy...just watched a YouTube video...Erie PA got 5 FEET of snow within a week...including 3 feet on Christmas Day.
Makes me feel foolish for complaining about the few feet we got over the course of a week...week and a half. BTW, it's snowing now, as I type this

Good god. We are use to alot of snow but that is alot of snow. here in Eastern Canada is have been having it very cold some times -37 celsius. I don't mind the cold but that is just to cold. Right where I am at we had -27 and that is really to cold to be outside for long durations. Not only that people's water pipes are freezing because we only have about 10 cm = 4 inches of snow on the ground. Everyday is very cold for this time of year but like somebody said...we are one more day closer to spring. lol. Thanks for posting the video.

Wife and kids made it home safe. Had to turn on heat strip upstairs, before i could come up from the basement, wife was yelling that something was burning. Was the dust on the heat coils, first time used this season. Temp was 3° beliw set point, coming up with aux on. $$$$$$$.

Good evening all. 13F this morning,clear, cold, windy north wind. It was so cold, the waves were freezing on the dam! High temp was a meager 25F, stayed windy most of the day and clear. Got back from Missouri last night, 1500 mile trek, rear heater quit working on way back and snow in the pickup bed. WBS duty today, outside fan on heat pump not working in cold weather. Trying to get house warmed up in cold weather, good fire going in insert, heat still kicking on some. Just getting stuff put away after trip and watching football.

Right now 8” looks real, if it stays on course, further east would get us of the hook. Either way it’s going to pump some Arctic air our way, as if it’s not cold enough.
