Good morning, all.

Temp -20 and going to a high of -11, mainly Sunny and wind N 7 mph.

I managed to pick up a cold over Christmas. I'm sitting here coughing and sneezing. I haven't lost my sense of smell, nor taste yet, but I am sure that will happen. It, like everything else will pass.

All you people that are getting freezing rain today, stay safe. I would rather have a foot of snow than even 1/4" of freezing rain.

Drinking first cup of coffee. -9° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 12° with partly cloudy skies. Came up with plans for chipper dolly. Work on putting it together today. Shop is heated to 50ï½°. That should make it bearable to work in.
Wife used her IP yesterday. Made pea soup. Soup was good. But need some practice using it.
Riptides, prayers for wife and you.
Buckeye, prayers for a faster recovery.
Drew, good luck with front mower order.
David, nice balcony project.
Good Morning All.

If you'd like a warm seat Drew, buy one of these

[Also available in Kubota orange ;)]

If you want it remote operated, ask your butler to fill with hot water and place on seat 15 minutes before you go out :)

Drew’s Butler starts and warms it up before bringing it the front door. LOL

I want what's in your coffee...so I can dream too...
All tractors should have seat warmers and warm steering wheels. There should be a law...:D

I did chuckle because I remember Roy calling my place a plantation...but even better, think of Lord Salop in a long coat delivering my tractor each morning.
With a freshly baked scone. I could do this...

And Randy, all it takes is two presses on the key chain. And then, if the truck is facing away, I get the most marvelous bark from the hemi starting up. It goes into a high idle briefly and then settles down. Makes the birds jump and me smile. You would like it...

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 4:00AM. Lots of sunshine. High 59F. Winds light and variable.

Saw a weather map of the nation yesterday showing most of the central states dipping down below freezing this week. Bundle up out there, folks, it's gonna be cold outside!

With all my ins and outs at hospitals, the nights seemed to hold the worst surprises, Rip. One time they decided to discharge my mother at 3AM, no advance notice, nothing. They made arrangements to move her to a nursing home without our knowledge, and we were told when we showed up for visiting the next morning that she wasn't there! Had to track down the social worker handling her case to find her. So you're very wise to keep close tabs on your dear wife, and don't let the night crew pull any fast ones.

Very clever idea, that lighter, Eric. Hope you keep us in the loop on how well it works and how long it lasts. Until then I'll keep whittling away at my stock of butane lighters. May the Force be with you.

Gonna be hard to keep a low profile at work today, huh Thomas?

My friend gave his wife a new laptop for Christmas, and at first she couldn't figure out how to transfer over the info from her '09 MacBook Pro to the new one. I found an article on the Apple web site and we started the process yesterday morning. When I left, it still had 19 hours remaining...

Uneventful trip home yesterday with no stops, just plenty of sunshine and light traffic since this time I skirted the Sacramento area entirely. Everything was OK when I got home as well. A fire in the woodstove sure felt good though, as the inside temp had fallen into the 60s. Fell asleep on the couch at about 5PM, woke up at 7:30 and just went to bed. Too much holiday making over the last few days, and I'm not as young as I used to be.

One last round of checking the tires and oil on the touring bike, then get it packed for the New Year's celebration down in the desert east of San Diego this weekend. Leaving Thursday, coming back Monday, looks like I might get wet on the way home. Wouldn't be the first time...

L4N, feel better. Bet you got your cold from kids. Tis the season.

wash hands a lot, whatever you touch in public is likely to be crawling with germs.

-6 right now...high of 12 today. No snow in the 10 day forecast, but if Thomas is hearing about snow, we'll probably see it too.

Plans...do the dump run that I should have done yesterday...a little banking and a haircut (maybe). I'd also like to visit a buddy of mine sometime today. Those are the plans...we'll see how much I actually accomplish.

21° but no snow yet, some on the radar in the area. Going to see doctor today.
Got call from dr office about next weeks appt. New yr, have an insurance deductible, they wanted $600 up front before my appointment. I got pissed and told them to bill me like everyone else does.
I am so tired if all this, wish now i had never had the surgery, except i really needed it.

Others are in worse shape, so guess i need to shut up.

I'd also rather have snow than ice.

The fire starter looks neat, might order one to try.

Good morning! Ron you forgot to close the door the cold is escaping. 39˚ and only heating up to 40˚. Need to re-wrap pipes and get ready for the wintery mix on new year's day as a low of 24˚ is predicted.
Thomas that kind of call can cause stress.

Thomas, good luck at work today.
I saw yesterday i got a bonus deposited in my account last week. They have been very supportive of me, letting me work from home and going negative on my leave. But in the back of my mind, I've been worried they might let me go for being off so long.
There has been another company calling me several times asking if im interested in a new job.

2°F and partly cloudy here this morning, going up to 18° today. Brisk, to say the least.

Spent the better part of the evening last night trying to find a way to limit the boy's internet usage. Wife got him a new laptop for Xmas to use for some online classes he wants to take. My first thought was, "Well, there goes our monthly data limits again." After some rummaging through the Linksys "smart" wi-fi menus and finding nothing, some Google-fu helped me determine it can't really be done ... unlike data limiting on a cell phone. Apparently, according to a bunch of geeky tech websites, routers just don't do that. So, we ended up with a workaround by setting up a guest login which we can turn on and off with the Linksys phone app. When he wants to do school work, he has to ask one of us for access. When he's done, off it goes.

Nice-looking project, David. Much easier than building in-place.

Doctor called and cancelled my appointment, rescheduled for tomorrow. He had to be in surgery. Glad i saw the voicemail, before driving an hour in.
We are getting light snow flurries.

Hope you have better news Drew.

Well, this isn't going to make your day but it did make mine.
My new mower was sitting there being built when I went down to the dealer.

That 72 RD deck is a monster, I can see why rear bumper weights are standard.
Now turns out they had ordered it for me on our handshake a month ago so it took about a month to come.
Now I have to figure out what has to be moved to fit this in, takes up a lot of footprint.
Think I'll move everything down so it gets parked next to the diesel tank.
Might be time for another shed.
Though I am going to sell my 1968 Cub Cadet because the points keep sticking. It needs to get away from the coast, or be put in a nice warm barn.
I don't use it enough and I need the covered space.

Here's a link that may help, along with links to other pages for other different Linksys routers:

https://www.linksys.com/ph/support-article?articleNum=136710

It seems to indicate that access can be blocked for computers with certain IP or MAC addresses (MAC would be more reliable) for certain times of day, which I think is what you were trying to do. There's a tip at the bottom of this page for finding the MAC address on Windows computers:

How to Restrict Bandwidth in a Linksys Wireless Router | Synonym

And here's an article that discusses monitoring data useage, then using the information to establish priorities or outright limits by MAC address or application. Say the boy likes to play Call of Duty, and that sucks up large amounts of bandwidth. You can limit the times or data usage of that application on the network.

How to measure, monitor, and manage your broadband consumption | PCWorld

And finally, even the satellite internet companies are making plans with higher data caps available. The HughesNet account I have offers 50 Gb/mo anytime use, and another 50 Gb/mo good between midnight and 8AM. And I'm told that Exede will soon have a no cap account available in my area, though my experience with their tech support was abysmal. Find a local, independent, Internet reseller in your area and see if any of those plans are available.

HTH...

66°F and no rain last 24 hours but appears there is quite a storm west of us the drenched Oahu with record rain

New guests coming in so last minute prep this morning. Hope that replacement remote is in the mail.

Hope to get my balcony bolted into final position this afternoon. Just so glad it went in place so readily. I swear lumber must be getting heavier
Once in place, a trip to HD for the Trex, but that might be tomorrow.

Be safe
Have a great day.
